The Formidable Son In Law: The Charismatic Lucas Gray is a romance novel that will captivate you from the beginning. The story is real, it’s vivid and it gathers all the right ingredients for a successful narrative.
You get a humble but strong leading male character, a vicious mother-in-law, a lying father-in-law, a distant family, a confused, but loving wife, and an innocent daughter. It’s very interesting to watch how they interact throughout the story as they try to mend their differences and work together as a true family.
Since there’s a six-year time leap between Lucas and Cheyenne’s wedding and the present day, there will be many gaps to fill. Just be patient and all your questions will be answered, as the author had done a terrific job in creating the narrative. It follows a natural course and it’s full of intense scenes that will keep you interested.

Part 1: The Narrative In The Formidable Son In Law: The Charismatic Lucas Gray
The story begins with Lucas Gray as he says goodbye to the Falcon Regiment. For the past six years, he had been captain of the assault team, special forces, and logistics team. Gray first came as a fresh recruit and managed to be promoted to general in a very short time span. He came to be known as the God of War.
After leaving, he draws a picture of a beautiful woman from his pocket. Cheyenne Carter, the beauty from Orange County, had the world at her feet but was involved in a tremendous scandal that ruined her reputation. She was forced to marry her chauffeur but she was still the mockery of the high society, for marrying a penniless man.
This made the poor chauffeur leave home one day for military camp, vowing to make a name for himself. That penniless chauffeur was Lucas Gray.
At the airport, a little girl with a stuffed bunny in her arms comes to him, calling him daddy, but Gray believes the child is confused and leaves her there. Getting to his wife’s house, he learns that his mother-in-law is about to declare him dead and marry Cheyenne with Seth Miller, a rich man with no romantic success.
When Cheyenne and Amelia come back, the little girl rushes into Lucas’s arms, calling him daddy again, which made the man wonder if the child was indeed his. Cheyenne doesn’t deny it but she tells him that he disappeared suddenly, stealing the family’s money, so she never thought that he would ever be back.
Lucas is stunned to know that he was accused of stealing fifty thousand dollars and vows to make things right. He promises to protect Cheyenne and Amelia and reunite his family. Will Gray succeed to win his wife back? Will he manage to shatter his mother-in-law’s plots against him?

The author of The Formidable Son In Law: The Charismatic Lucas Gray novel has done a very good job in constructing the characters. Each individual is well described as you fully understand their roles in the story.
Lucas Gray
Lucas is a young general, who spends the last six years of his life making a name for himself. From a young recruit, he ascended to general and became known as the God of War. He is unhappy to leave Falcon Regiment behind, but he needs to get back to his wife.
When Gray was a penniless chauffeur, he was involved in a scandal along with Cheyenne, a rich girl who had a great deal of potential. Someone framed them. Her parents, trying to clear the family name, made the two protagonists get married.
They even offered Lucas fifty thousand dollars to save his dying mother. Seeing that high society considered he took advantage of Cheyenne for her money, Gray decides to leave and come back when he would be worthy of his wife.
Upon returning, he learns that Cheyenne had given birth to a baby girl, his daughter. He tries to reconnect with his wife and daughter while fighting the scheming and plotting of his mother-in-law, who still sees him as unworthy of her daughter.
Cheyenne Carter
Cheyenne Carter, also known as the beauty of Orange County, is gorgeous, delicate, and exquisite. After she graduated from college, she became a famous CEO. Her life was smiling at her until, one day, she was accused of having an affair with the company’s chauffeur.
The scandal ruined her image and reputation, even though she did everything in her power to prove they were framed and had been drugged. The Carters, wanting to cover up the scandal, married Cheyenne with the chauffeur, but this only made things worse.
Everyone was mocking and criticizing her for marrying a penniless chauffeur. One day, Lucas, her husband leaves home without saying a word. Cheyenne gives birth to a little girl she names Amelia and struggles to raise her on her own, until, six years later, Lucas returns.
She will be torn between getting back with the father of her child or moving on with Seth, a rich man her parents chose for her.
Karen Carter
Karen is Cheyenne’s mother and she is the one who forced her to marry the company’s chauffeur, Lucas Grey when the scandal burst. She is cold and determined to get rid of her son-in-law after he returns home. She even plans on declaring him dead, freeing her daughter, and marrying her to Seth Miller, a wealthy man.
She doesn’t treat her granddaughter very well, locking her in the attic to teach her a lesson. This caused Amelia a severe shock, having a high fever for five consecutive days.
Part 3: The Formidable Son In Law: The Charismatic Lucas Gray Review
There are several reasons why I believe the novel is a worthy reading and why I believe that the charismatic Lucas Grey is a terrific character.
First, the narrative is incredible. It’s filled with interesting plots and dialogues, even some fun events here and there, and some heart-wrenching scenes as well. The entire story will put you on a carousel of emotions. Your adrenaline will go up and down and up again.
Secondly, I like the evolution of the characters. Lucas Grey is a humble, penniless chauffeur, but he becomes a powerful, respected husband and father. Cheyenne starts as the city’s rich beauty who has the world at her feet and becomes this humble but powerful woman, wife, and mother who is able to overcome everything.
Furthermore, I really enjoy how the plot changes, and how there are always new challenges for our characters. I can assure you that you aren’t going to get bored while reading the novel.
If I were to rate this book, I would give it five out of five stars. It’s still an ongoing online novel, so I bet there are still many surprises for us in the future.
