Part 1. The Storyline of The Defiant Mate by Jennifer Francis
At the beginning of The Defiant Mate, Jay-la reacts impulsively, which will soon cause her banishment order by her lover and future Alpha of the Blood Moon himself.
She and Nathan were childhood friends and became lovers for a year before Alpha Nathan found his true mate, Sophia.
Jay-la was pleading for some time with Nathan, and Sophia didn’t like it. She attacked Jay-la first, yanking Jay-la’s hands off the future Alpha Nathan, slapping her, and pushing her to the ground.
As the strong main heroine of The Defiant Mate, Jay-la’s wolf fought back and slapped Sophia with her claws all out, leaving Sophia screaming and bleeding in pain.
But Nathan reacted even more aggressively when he angrily ordered her to leave.
Jay-la did.
She left the pack and didn’t return six years later. She did not return by herself. She was forced, taken by men from her house, transported by a van, and to the tall gates representing Blood Moon Pack. All this because she’s been ignoring the letter with the seal of the Alpha.
The last letter was sent to her company under Browning Corporation, with 3 days for her to respond and 7 days to come home.
She called Jackson’s phone, the Beta, but Nathan was infuriated she was still not back yet and shouted his frustration which she heard from across the line, and ended the call in fear.
Alpha Nathan was forced to kidnap her in The Defiant Mate. The kidnapping was recorded, and the CEO of the law, Eric, firm announced it in the press with the letter as proof that the Browning Corporation did it, leaving Nathan with no choice but bring Jay-la to her human lifestyle.
Nathan must think of another way to bring Jay-la back into their pack in The Defiant Mate. It’s not easier as he thinks because she has a life with the humans that she cannot just leave behind.
Part 2. Supernatural Characters of The Defiant Mate
Who are the werewolf characters of The Defiant Mate? Get to know them here.
Jayla Freeman
Jay-la Freeman was only twenty when she left her pack in The Defiant Mate. She was pregnant with triplets then—also the reason why her wolf, Kora, attacked Sophia when the latter hurt her: to protect the pups.
She has green eyes and a small but fit frame.
She stayed at the dorm inside the campus when she left the pack. She planned to finish law school and an internship and return in two years.
But her plans changed when she learned she was pregnant. Now 26, Jay-la is working at Stanton & Co Law Firm to support the triplets.
Name of the triplets: Nate, Lilly, and Rosalie
Luckily for Jay-la, Alpha Blaine Browning, Nathan’s father, refused Sophia’s request to make her a rogue for disrespecting her. He did not react harshly like Nathan. He thought there was a reason why Jay-la acted that way. That there’s more to the story of Jay-la as the Defiant Mate.
Nathan Browning
The hero of The Defiant Mate novel is Alpha Nathan Browning, Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. He was 21 when Jay-la was banished. Now, he’s 27 and has moved up to the throne as the Alpha.
Nathan Browning has deep blue eyes, tousled blonde hair, and tanned skin. His wolf is named Havoc, and he’s been demanding Nathan take Jay-la back into the pack.
As we can see in his actions in The Defiant Mate, Nathan is an impulsive, impatient, and demanding man. He wants what he wants and gets frustrated if he doesn’t get it. Like when Jay-la continued to ignore all the letters, ordering her to return to the Blood Moon pack.
His last resort is the note reserve for serious offense in the pack.
Upon seeing the black envelope at the hand of the firm’s CEO and after hearing the Browning Corporation, The Defiant Mate, Jay-la, and her wolf, Kora knew they were doomed.
Browning Corporation is owned by the pack, and their pack’s disguised from the human world. And the letter from the corporation is only reserved for serious matters.
Part 3. About the Author of The Defiant Mate
The author of The Defiant Mate, Jennifer Francis, also Jenna, is from Australia. A young woman who dreamed of becoming a writer is now bringing the dream back to life. Her other works in Dreame are Unscentable, Her Alpha’s Orders and His Luna’s Already A Luna.
As a starter, she’s doing well in her book. Especially, The Defiant Mate. It is a fast-paced werewolf romance novel with romance that is sweet and loving but not too mushy or cheesy.
It also has many realistic conflicts, mostly Jay-la’s experiences being alone during her pregnancy and the urge to protect her kids from anything. The Defiant Mate novel will make readers feel for Jay-la as a mother, lover, and woman.
Overall, The Defiant Mate deserves a 4/5 score.
