Part 1: Charlotte’s Journey In The CEO’s Addiction To Love
On her wedding night, Charlotte was supposed to make love to her husband, the man she cherished the most in this world. But instead of losing her purity to him, she knew that tonight she would have to give her body to a stranger. After all, she had made a promise to Bryson, her husband.
Nine months later, Charlotte woke up in the hospital after giving birth to a beautiful little boy. She never got to see him, but she heard the nurse praise the small child. He was healthy but she would never get to see or hold him.
After all, Charlotte only gave birth to the little boy to help Bryson escape an awful punishment. He begged her to have a stranger’s baby after he accidentally hit a pregnant woman, causing her miscarriage. The only way to escape jail was by giving her and her husband a baby in return.
This is why Charlotte had to endure the cold breaths and the touches of a stranger on her wedding night. She never got to see the man’s face, as the lights were switched off. It was complete darkness. Not that it mattered anyway. She only did what had to be done to protect her husband.
After giving birth, she learned that her father was in the hospital in a coma. He had a stroke after Bryson had stolen his company and kicked him out while threatening with jail time.
Not caring about being hooked up with needles, Charlotte ran away from the hospital and went straight home. She had to see Bryson and ask for an explanation. After all, she trusted him, she had made sacrifices to save him.
Reaching her mansion, Charlotte is stopped by the gate. She wasn’t allowed to enter the premises of her own home as Bryson had forbidden every member of the staff to allow her presence there.
Soon, her husband came home. And he wasn’t alone. He had the love of his life, Tiffany, with him. He mocked Charlotte, confessing that he wasn’t the culprit of the accident that caused the miscarriage of that woman, but Tiff. Charlotte had sacrificed her purity and her body for his mistress.
Bryson wasn’t even sorry for his actions. He seemed to hate Charlotte as her family once tried to hurt Tiffany in the worse way possible. Not caring about her poor health after just giving birth, Tiffany and Bryson got into the car and drove away, leaving her laying on the cold ground.
Waiting for death to engulf her, Charlotte felt a pair of strong arms lifting her up. She wakes up in Zachary Connor’s house, a famous billionaire known to be ruthless and domineering. He proposed marriage to her, but the girl refused.
Fleeing from the man’s mansion, Charlotte was approached by Victor, one of her father’s employees. He had always been a respectful man, but today he simply assaulted Charlotte, admitting that he wanted her body and he was the only person who could help her father escape jail time.
With everybody gossiping about her being dumped by Bryson and having Victor’s threat hovering over her, Charlotte realized that she could only be protected if she were to marry Zachary.
She finds him at a party after confronting Bryson and Tiffany. In front of everybody, she got on her knees and asked Zachary if he wanted to marry her. The man reminded her that his offer was a one-time opportunity and he didn’t go back on his word.
As an intelligent woman, Charlotte challenged Zachary to a race. If she won, they would marry, if he won, she would leave him alone. She manages to win the race on a bike, after Zachary avoided hitting her with his car and he agrees to marry her. He handed her a prenup which she immediately signed.
The next day though, Charlotte made a terrible mistake and violated the first amendment from the agreement they made. She went to Bryson to deliver the remaining things she had from him. Although it was a goodbye and she eventually burned those things, the agreement stated that she couldn’t get in touch with her ex under no circumstance without asking him first.
After seeing Zachary back down from their agreement, Charlotte makes a second bet. To get to the city hall by noon the next day, in a terrible traffic jam. She is late by two minutes though, missing her second opportunity.
Despaired, Charlottle blatantly kissed Zachary in public. There were many people thinking that the famous CEO might be into men since they had never seen him with a woman before, but now they were convinced that he liked girls.
Although he got mad at Charlotte, he eventually married her. He didn’t really want a wife. He had his own agenda though. He had to find out who was the woman he slept with nine months ago when he was drugged.
Can Charlotte be that woman? Is the baby she had just given birth to Zachary”s?
Part 2: Major Themes In The CEO’s Addiction To Love
The CEO’s Addiction To Love story gathers more than one theme.
The first one, the most important is the love theme. Although, in the beginning of the novel you wish to have Bryson change his mind and marry Charlotte, as the story progresses and you meet Zachary, you’ll see that he’s the better person for her.
Love after betrayal is beautifully portrayed by the author here, as Charlotte is reluctant to love. All she wants is to have her revenge against Louis, even if it’s the last thing she does.
Revenge is another major theme here, as everything seems to derive from Bryson’s need to avenge Tiffany’s mistreat. Revenge can only bring revenge as consequence, thus Charlotte will have the last word in this matter.
Betrayal seems to be a recurring theme here, as all characters will betray someone at some point. Tiffany did it with Bryson when she left the country, Bryson betrayed his wife, her father betrayed Bryson and Charlotte deceived Zachary at some point.
In all this turmoil, it’s not easy for Zachary and Charlotte to find happiness, but they eventually manage to overcome their differences and form a family with their child.
