The story tells of Lucien who was sold to slavery for ten years following the defeat of his kingdom, Salem by the kingdom of Mombasa. Lucien suffered for ten years at the hands of king Cone of Mombasa. He has finally escaped slavery and defeated king Cone. He plans to return all the pain he suffered for those years at the hands of king Cone. And, no one better to take all of the responsibility than the daughter of king Cone, Danika.
The Alpha King’s Hated Slave is so raw with its tale of torture and suffering. The hatred that is felt for king Cone by Lucien is so palpable, it practically drips off the pages. Lucien is not a hard character to understand.
Basically, he just wants revenge. However, he ended up killing king Cone. That was not enough, so he wanted the princess to take on the leftovers of his hatred which had nowhere to go.
But he might come to wish he had done otherwise. Danika is a strong woman really. Yes, she cannot be considered absolved from responsibility just because her father did all those horrible things and not her. However, you cannot help but think that such reparations easily breed an endless cycle of revenge and pain.
The author does a good job with the surprisingly deep characters and their wonderful backstories.

Lucien merely responded with a cold smile and told her he had been introduced twice. At the thought of subjecting the woman to this humiliation had gone through himself, he felt nothing except satisfaction.
At the courts, Danika was leered at by three kings. She hated the thought of going through what she did at Lucien’s hands, again in the hands of these three kings. They did not hide their arousal. Danika shrunk back in the face of it all. Unknown to her that she clutched Lucien tightly.
It only took his cold gaze to land on that spot for her to be aware of this mistake. She muttered an apology, immediately dropping her hand. A moment later, a slave of one of the kings was made to dance in front of everyone, but all their eyes were on Danika.
