Walking away from a loveless marriage is easy, but turning your back on the woman you love, even though she hurt you countless times, is never easy. Unfortunately for Arthur, he doesn’t have a choice. Even though his mother-in-law was the one to force him to marry Stacey, she was also the one who commands their divorce.
Apparently, the only person to actually put his heart and soul into the marriage is Arthur. He’s like this obedient housewife, ready to please the object of his affection, Stacey and her family. He acts like a maid for all of them, cooking meals, washing, ironing, and driving everyone’s kids to school.
In return, all he gets is verbal abuse and inconsiderate. It’s amazing that, even when Arthur believes that he can’t take the abuse anymore, he finds the strength to carry on after receiving the simplest, insignificant gesture from his wife. A little kiss on the cheek or just a kind word is enough for him to forgive and forget.
Worse luck for Stacey’s mother as Arthur is no ordinary person. She may chase him away from their lives, but a free Arthur using his great heritage will turn his life around, making his mother-in-law reconsider her decisions. Will Arthur and Stacey ever get a second chance to love each other?

Part 1: Revenge Of The Heir Storyline
A teenage Arthur attends to his father’s wounds, shot with several bullets in the middle of the street. The old man urges his son to run away as it’s too late for him now and he needs Arthur to take over the consortium once he is no longer alive.
The teenage boy rebukes such a thought, he doesn’t want anything to do with the consortium, he just wants his father alive and well. Applying pressure to his wounds, blood keeps pouring between the boy’s fingers making him more and more desperate.
As Arthur starts yelling at his dad to stay with him, he jumps out of his sleep, literally screaming. It was just a dream again. Next to Arthur is his beautiful wife, who looks at him with concern in his eyes and asks him what happened.
Sad, Arthur realized he worried Stacey. Sighing, the woman glared at her husband and threatened to suffocate him in his sleep the next time he startles her like this in the middle of the night.
Even if the nightmare is over, the man is still restless and can’t seem to fall back to sleep. He decides to ask Stacey if he could sleep next to her, without touching her if it bothered her, but Stacey tells off her ‘dummy’ husband, threatening him that, if he keeps talking, he will be punished for an entire week.
Again, the man doesn’t understand why Stacey married him in the first place. After a one-night stand together, she blackmailed him to marry her and now, she’s forcing him to stay in the marriage. From day one, she used him as she pleased and punished him for insignificant things.
Resolved this time, Arthur asks for a divorce, while pouring his heart out for not being loved or respected in his marriage. Annoyed by his rattle, Stacey reaches out for her earplugs and tells her husband one last time to go to sleep, as he has chores to attend to the next day.
The man scoffs, knowing that everyone in the house treated him like a maid. Grinning, Stacey tells him that he is indeed a maid and he should know his place. In the morning, as promised, Arthur still wants a divorce and heads for his closet to gather his clothes.
Stacey tries to brush off his actions and asks for her morning coffee, but, seeing that he is dead serious about leaving her, she changes strategies.
A small kiss on the cheek and a promise to hire him in the company is all she needed to do to make Arthur go in the kitchen and make coffee, then carry on with the house chores such as cleaning, washing, preparing the meals and even driving the kids to school.
As everyone in the house mocks Arthur and treats him worse than a slave, Stacey never stands up for him. On the contrary, she always joins them in treating Arthur poorly. Secretly though, she fell in love with him but she couldn’t say anything, afraid her family might do something rash.
Gwendolyn, Stacey’s grandmother, finds out about her affection towards her husband but urges her to divorce him, otherwise, she will make sure Stacey will be a widower. The girl has no choice but to listen to her grandmother. Humiliating Arthur and pushing him away, choosing another man over her husband will eventually make the man walk away.
Strong, rich, and handsome, Arthur will turn his life around. Will Stacey be ready now to begin a real relationship with him? Can Arthur still love her after everything she put him through?
Part 2: Novel Review: Revenge Of The Heir
Arthur’s devotion and affection towards his wife are exactly what I call love. Even though he always had every necessary means to get away from a loveless, humiliating marriage with a cold woman, he still stood his ground and hoped that one day, she will finally see him as her equal and love him.
And he succeeded, even though he had no idea. Stacey fell for him hard, but she knew her family would never allow him to become a real member of their family, thus there was only one way to keep him close to her and that required her to mistreat him, show disdain, and put him to work.
I liked the fact that their failed marriage made both Arthur and Stacey wiser and tougher. Gwendolyn doesn’t scare them anymore, she can’t control their lives, yet, there are other aspects that seem to keep the two love birds apart.
The mother-in-law’s scheming made both Arthur and Stacey hate each other at some point, but once things settle and the truth came to the surface, the story took a straight path leading to their happiness.
There are lots of moments throughout the novel when you actually believe that this is it, Arthur and Stacey finally unleash their passion, only to be knocked off by a bucket of cold water.
Their journey is certainly rocky, but it’s entertaining and juicy altogether. There’s this cat-and-mouse play where sometimes Stacey runs after Arthur, sometimes it’s the opposite, and when you feel like they might never be on the same page again, love prevails.
