Olivia was a star athlete. She was the best wherever she went. She had real talent and she was pretty much sought after. She transferred from her former school to the school where Waking Olivia Book starts, on scholarship. Yes, as I said, she has sought after.

But, I would love to think that her former school put her up for transfer, to be honest, because of what she did to a co-student that upset her. Olivia beat someone up almost to the point of death. The scandal stuck to her so badly that anywhere she went, people eyed her in different ways, but all with the knowledge of what she had done before.

Moreover, Olivia had some secrets that had better not enter the ears of the wrong person or people, or else, it was guaranteed to be used against her.

Anyway, she moved to her new school on scholarship, and then she met her coach, Will Langstrom. It became a tussle between the headstrong and handsome coach of the female tricksters and Olivia who happened to have changed her name to Fin by the time she resumed at her new school.

Part 1: Storyline of Waking Olivia

Waking Olivia Book

In Waking Olivia Book, Will Langstrom didn’t want Olivia in his team for any reason. He had heard about her before. Even before she joined the school where he was coaching, he had heard about her, but he soon forgot about her as her buzz seemed to have died down after a while, but, here she was again.

After a couple of years, he was hearing about her another time, and as a matter of fact, she was right in front of him. Ridiculous! The things that Will Langstrom had heard about Olivia must have been not too good, so he didn’t want her on his team. Especially for this recent reason where she was said to have nearly killed someone via beating.

He scolded the head coach that initiated her transfer time without a number, but there was nothing Will Langstrom could do about it when he saw that the head coach was not going to pay him any mind, and he was going to be stuck with Olivia for a fact.

Olivia resumed at her new school and thought that her coach would be the famous Peter, the one that initiated her transfer but to her dismay, Peter introduced her to the man beside him called Will Langstrom, who did not like her. It was obvious from his expression, his choice of words, and what not that he did not fancy Olivia on his team at all.

Eventually, Olivia started training in her new school and she was undoubtedly the best. Of course, there was a former best before she joined her new team, and Will Langstrom intended to hold on to this former best person instead of Olivia, but Peter, his colleague was bent on Olivia and pointed it out to Will that Olivia was a better athlete than the former best in the school and Olivia proved it time without number, yet, Will never give her a friendly look nor compliment her the way he was complimenting others for doing less than her. He just totally did not want her around.

Well, In Waking Olivia’s book, Olivia considered Will attractive, but the fact that he was an asshole to her made her ignore his good looks. She always felt disgusted anytime any of her friends and teammates daydreamed about Will. Will was a man with his reality.

He was not perfect too and had his fair share of shattered dreams, life dealing him an unfair hand, etc. He stayed away from Olivia long enough until he was forced to know her better when she had an uncanny incident with a male teammate where she scared the wits out of him because he was bothering her. Will saw that in her lifetime, Olivia had been stabbed.

It was at this point that he started to treat her differently, even though he tried as hard as he could to keep himself from increasing the passive fire that burned between both of them.

Part 2: Main Characters of Waking Olivia

Olivia AKA Fin

Waking Olivia Olivia

Olivia is the female lead character of Waking Olivia Book. She was a talent by all standards and by far the fastest sprinter anywhere she found herself sprinting.

By the way, she changed her name to Fin. Maybe it was because of the numerous controversies that surrounded her, so she didn’t want to be spotted easily, and that was why she changed her name. There was a lot about her.

In fact, I read somewhere that Olivia was her nightmare, and I agree with that totally. Having been transferred from her former school to a new one on scholarship, she meets her unfriendly coach, Will Langstrom. Olivia did everything in her power to be in the good book of Will Langstrom, but he was always condescending to her for reasons best known to him.

Olivia had secrets about her that she had best kept hidden, and also, the fact that she was attracted to her coach added to the enigma about her.

Will Langstrom

Waking Olivia Will Langstrom

Will Langstrom was Olivias coach. At first, he didn’t like her for anything. During training, if he was giving everyone a thumbs up for the slightest achievement, he was condescending to Olivia. Maybe it had to do with her character. He just didn’t like her.

Will Langstrom also had a back story about himself, and he lived literally from hand to mouth, working several jobs to make ends meet. Moreover, his late father had left a load of debt behind for Will to handle, so maybe that was why he was so grumpy.

But I wouldn’t say that was the case because he was grumpy to only Olivia. Having found out some details about Olivia, Will Langstrom started to connect the dots and saw the reason why Olivia was the way she was, and as a result, he sought to save her from herself. He went on a charade of Waking Olivia.

Part 3: Evaluate Waking Olivia

Waking Olivia Full Book

Waking Olivia is a decent book. To be honest, it’s nothing extra-ordinary, even though the author did a great job in the narration.

Pretty cliche plot if you ask me, but there are so many other cliche plots out there so I cannot hold it against this author. Besides the cliche, the book is worth a read. The author followed a decent pace as well so that even if there were a couple of asides here and there, it was not for a long volume, and the asides were interesting and necessary. Unlike some books, I won’t mention their names.
