The Royal We is a romantic fiction novel about an American lady, Bex who went to Europe to study at Oxford University. Apparently, it was a modern fairytale with delicious twists and witty banters which would surely entertain the readers.

A feel-good read for those who are searching for a light tell-all love story. There was salacious prose making the reading experience more intimate. Also, the narrative voice was compelling which I personally loved. The characters were relatable enough as the lead roles showed their flaws in a such beautiful manner.

Albeit the length of the story, I believed it only served its purpose. Yet, some commented that it should be converted into a shorter version to avoid draggy scenes. An epic love story that made a lot of readers binge-read it even in one sitting.

Unlike the YA novels the Fug Sisters used to write, The Royal We targeted adult readers. There was a mixture of sweetness, torment, joy, and pleasure, bonded all in a 414-page masterpiece. From the prologue down to the last page, I could easily commend the authors for pulling up a such brilliant plot for a royal romantic book like this one.

Part 1: The Enchanting Highlights and Characters of The Royal We

The Royal We Part 1 Background and Characters

Rebecca Porter whose nickname is Bex has a twin sister named Lacey. They were completely different from each other. Aside from being a half-inch taller than her, Lacey was always active in school while she was a softball team pitcher who used to be in the bleachers.

Bex was an aloof kind of person who enjoyed being in solemn situations and was not of Disney’s happy-ever-after concept. While the other one was a wild and extroverted kind of woman, dreaming all her life to marry a prince like in the fairy tales she used to read during her childhood. They both look gorgeous, yet Bex was not a hopeless romantic type of gal.

All she wanted was to focus on improving herself while diligently studying. However, things turned out another way, when her school proposed a junior exchange program. It was the first time they would be living apart.

This goofy dreamy The Royal We book started when Bex was preparing for her royal wedding. She was about to get married to the king-to-be, Prince Nicholas of Wales. With all the shenanigans happening to her, she considered herself a modern Cinderella. But she was not sure what the future holds for her living a regal life with the man she loves. Nick had found his queen in the hallway of the dorm on her first night in Oxford.

It was indeed an unexpected yet magical moment while Bex was wearing jeans paired with a sailor-striped T-shirt. That very moment, she claimed herself as dirty and stunk like a canned air of a public plane.

The Royal We - Setting

Living in England was a challenge for her especially when she got involved with the crowned price. But the first chapters focused on the flashback where the couple was still having their love for each other budding. There were tests that came their way before finally tying the knot.

Part 2: A Kate and Prince William Love Story-Inspired Novel

Before having a relationship with Nick, Bex had a casual fling named Clive who was also her dorm mate. Amidst her closeness with that guy, she and the prince had a significant connection with each other and eventually enjoyed each other’s company.

They used to watch their favorite series together and their bond made them inseparable. Until they finally confessed the real deal between the two. The story revolves around a decade timeline in which they developed their feelings until the time when they were about to marry. But because Nick came from the royal family of Lyons, their relationship was kept secret.

Things were so smooth in the succeeding chapters of The Royal We until a photo of them kissing was disclosed to the public which caused intrigue on her part. A lot of people judged her for dating the prince, knowing that she was just an ordinary person.

But this did not stop them from continuing their romance, Bex suggested finally coming out to the open. Yet this idea was not approved by Nick, he did not want for history to repeat itself. For his mother, Emma was mentally disturbed from being misjudged by the press.

Any relationship has its own flaws, just like what happened with them. Nick spent his time with his ex-girlfriend during his birthday celebration. And because he was hiding his real girlfriend from being conspired, he decided not to invite Bex which led them to a breakup.

She went back to the US and learned to move on with the heartache she had. Time passed and her father passed away, so she had to go back to Europe. Nick wanted to pursue her again and the two were eventually engaged and marry each other.

Part 3: The Royal We Regal Review

The Royal We Summary

In all fairness, The Royal We book had a pleasing ending. It was a happy ending yet before leading to that majestic part, a lot of obstacles still block their path. A British Monarchy novel that took years to finally be a completely astounding story.

I know this was inspired by the royal couple, Kate and Prince Williams’s romance but I could also see the original parts which were also promising. This novel will surely sweep your heart away with majestic delight.

After reading this imperial read, I recommend jumping through the pages of the second book in the series, The Heir Affair. For sure, you could not get enough of the swoon-worthy plot.
