In the prologue of The Marriage Bargain Book, the author tells us of the initial relationship between the lead female, Alexandria Maria McKenzie, and Nicholas Ryan before The Marriage Bargain.
Alexa, as Alexandria was fondly called at the time, was best friends with Maggie, Nicholas’s younger sister. At a point in their lives as adolescents, Alexa was close to Nicholas, and they were seen everywhere together, but along the line, Nicholas drifted away from her claiming to be too grown up for her. He started to hang out with more feminine-looking females, as Alexa was not one to bother so much about being a barbie.
She didn’t wear lip gloss, makeup, or any of the other items that typical girls of her age would be interested in, instead, she played with boys and cared less about how she looked. Maybe that was why Nicholas Ryan stopped hanging out with her.
As a matter of fact, that was why he stopped hanging out with her, as he grew to the age of being interested in more attractive girls.

Part 1: Main Story of The Marriage Bargain
In The Marriage Bargain Book, one fateful day in the woods, Alexa was playing hide and seek with Maggie, Nicholas Ryans’s sister, and some other friends when Alexa saw Nicholas. He scolded her for still being up to such child’s play. Who played hide and seek at their age anymore?
A back-and-forth discussion between Nicholas Ryan and Alexa ensued, with Alexa trying to make Nicholas understand that she was as grown up as he was even though she was not interested in the usual girlie stuff. But Nicholas was bent on not agreeing with Alexa for the fact that she had not even kissed a guy yet. As would have been expected, Alexa shared her first kiss with Nicholas Ryan in a bid to prove to him that she was now grown up.
If only Alexa knew that Nicholas would talk down on her after she gave him her first kiss which was generally considered special and sacred, she would not have done so. Nicholas said the most condescending words to Alexa immediately after that kiss, and it shattered Alexa’s heart completely.
Moreover, some of her friends had seen her kiss Nicholas, and she was sure that they would tease her about it for a very long time.
Fast forward to several years later, Alexa was single and uninterested in any partner who did not have anything to offer. She was now very obviously grown and all about her money, so she had a vivid idea of the kind of man she wanted in her life if at all there would be a man.
Moving forward in The Marriage Bargain Book, Alexa cast a love spell. She had read a book and followed the steps in casting the spell, and she had just finished when Maggie, her best friend who doubled as Nicholas Ryans’s sister showed up at her house.
They had their usual discussion, and Maggie came to find out that Alexa had a list of the features that she wanted in a man. One of the major features was that the man should be able to give her what she considered a fortune of money amidst other features. Alexa needed this money to save her mother from selling her house.
That was why this money was important to Alexa and was a vivid part of the list. When Maggie read Alexa’s list, she immediately phoned her brother, Nicholas.
Coincidentally, Nicholas was also in a dilemma. He needed to claim a fortune from his parents, but his Uncle had made it that unless Nicholas got married, he would not be able to lay a finger on the fortune, and so he was in a fix. At the same time Alexa was casting a love spell on herself, Nicholas happened to be doing the same at his location.
Even if he was not exactly casting s spell, he was penning down the attributes that he needed in a wife, and which of his ex-girlfriends and current women around him fit the picture. But, none of them fit. As for Alexa, Nicholas Ryan did not even remember her.
Suddenly his phone rang, and it was a call from his sister, Maggie, telling him that she had found the perfect match for him since she knew that he was looking for a wife. Be that as it may, Nicholas and Alexa reached an agreement, and The Marriage Bargain was formed between them. A marriage without love, marriage without companionship and attachment.
Would it last? Would it be as they had bargained for, or the ever-ready gripping hands of love and affection would engulf them? Find out when you read The Marriage Bargain Book.
Part 2: Main Characters of The Marriage Bargain
Alexandria Maria McKenzie
The female lead of the book, was involved with Nicholas Ryan in The Marriage Bargain. Friends with Nicholas’s younger sister, Maggie, Nicholas was no stranger to her as at the time he came forward with The Marriage Bargain, even though he had given her the first kiss, as well as her first heartbreak.
Alexa, as she was fondly called in the book, sought a way to pay for her mother’s house which was on the verge of being sold, so she nonchalantly cast a love spell, asking mother earth to lead her to a man that would enable her to fix her financial constraints.
Was it that the spell worked or was it just a coincidence because, Nicholas Ryan had fortune at his fingertips, and was looking for a wife that would not love him nor be interested in him loving her, as he considered marriage a stressful and messy venture.
Nicholas Ryan
Nicholas Ryan was the inventor of The Marriage Bargain and Alexa’s first love. He abandoned her rudely, and in fact, shattered her heart after she had given him a kiss which was her first kiss. The elder brother of Maggie, Alexas best friend, Nicholas Ryan fell into a ton of fortune which required him to be married first before he would be able to access it.
As a result of fate, destiny, or the spell that Alexa, who happened to be desperate for a partner at the time for her reasons was in search of a man to call hers, and this was how The Marriage Bargain was formed between Nicholas Ryan and Alexandria Maria McKenzie.
Part 3: Evaluate The Marriage Bargain
The Marriage Bargain is an interesting book with clearly written English and vivid plots that build up to exciting cliffhangers. What I love most about the book is that it is apt and straight to the point.
I love how the author did not waste too much time describing the setting of the play and the looks of the characters but delves into narrating what the story is all about. The book comes in different series and promises to excite readers at each juncture.
