Payback’s A Witch because witches were all about revenge in this book by Lana Harper. One young man broke the heart of and double-crossed three female witches. Fortunately, he was also a witch if not I doubt that he would have been able to get away with it.

Emmy Harlow was one such witch. Emmy left Thistle Grove where she was born and had spent most of her life, and moved into a regular city, doing regular things like going to school, having student debts, and all whatnot. These were things that were not adamant to Thistle Grove as regular as they appeared. Thistle Grove was a town filled with magic. Thistle Grove was one such town that tourists from far and near visited in a bid relish the yearly Halloween feel. What these tourists didn’t know was that it didn’t have to be the period of Halloween for them to feel witchy in Thistle Grove, as Thistle Grove was an embodiment of witchcraft on its own.

Part 1: Story Line of Payback’s A Witch

Paybacks A Witch Book

Three female witches were mad at one male witch in this book and sought revenge after him by any means necessary. If I were that male witch, I will beg them to forgive me. Gareth, a male descendant of the strongest founding families in Thistle Grove had hurt Emmy, Talia, and Linden.

This had happened years ago, but as soon as it was time to gather for the Gauntlet Tournament, old wounds opened up, and revenge surfaced. However, this plot of revenge by the three female witches was not without a spice of romance, especially between Talia and Emmy.

At first, Emmy was reluctant to carry out the revenge plot, but her counterpart witches would hear nothing of such. They had all been hurt by Gareth, and they would all plot against him so that he would not win the tournament in any way.

I must say that Gareth was lucky enough to have been met with such a revenge plot. Plotting for him not to win the tournament was pretty decent coming from witches, they were capable of doing more. Did they succeed in keeping Gareth away from winning the tournament? Find out when you read Payback’s A Witch Book.

After the outcome of the tournament, Emmy was in a tight corner. She had grown attached to Talia, and leaving Thistle Grove felt heavy on her. Also, her magic had started to return to her, making it even more difficult for her to leave Thistle Grove again after the tournament.

I forgot to state earlier that Emmy had lost her magic because she had stayed away from Thistle Grove for a long time. Staying away from the magical town gradually rode her of her magic until it was completely gone, by the time she returned to Thistle Grove she had no iota of magic in her anymore.

But after spending time in Thistle Grove on her return, being deeply involved with the tournament as well as plotting against a fellow witch, and being attracted to another witch, her magic returned to her.

Part 2: Main Characters of Payback’s A Witch

Emmy Harlow

It is easy to think that Emmy Harlow left Thistle Grove because Gareth Blackmoore broke her heart, but it was not so. Only a fraction of the heartbreak that she suffered at the hands of Gareth Blackmoore made her leave Thistle Grove. I would love to think that the heartbreak triggered her to just up and leave and that she already nursed the idea of living the entire time.

The major reason Emmy Harlow left Thistle Grove was that her family was the weakest link to magic in the town. The Harlow family had the least potent magic, and the thought and feel of it swallowed her whole. Well, as if that was not enough, Gareth Blackmoore a descendant of the strongest family link to magic broke her heart.

She thought to severe ties with Thistle Grove, and she did, only to return after nine whooping years because of the tournament. She met and got very comfortable around Talia, and it is safe to say that they sparked a lesbian relationship. After the Gaunlet Tournament that made Emmy Harlow return to Thistle Grove after nine years, she found it rather difficult to leave again.

Gareth Blackmoore

Gareth Blackmoore, the descendant of the strongest founding families in Thistle Grove. If only he was not such a douche, the title of the descendant of the strongest founder would have been worth it. But Gareth Blackmoore was literally of no use. Yes, he was a useless chap.

He broke Emmy Harlow’s heart and was dating linden and Talia at the same time. What sort of person does that in a town as small as Thistle Grove? Well, Gareth Blackmoore was such a person.

All three witches whom he had offended in the past sought revenge against him, and the goal was to make sure that the Blackmoore family that was notorious for winning the Gauntlet Tournament didn’t win on this occasion.

Could they stop Gareth Blackmoore, a descendant of the strongest founding family from succeeding at the tournament? Find out when you read Payback’s A Witch.

There is an entire series to this book, nevertheless, this episode is worth giving kudos to. A little beating around the bush by the author, but not so much as everything she tried to portray that seemed like a drag ended up being useful information at a point.

Carefully written by someone with a rich imagination, Payback’s A Bitch generously invites readers to the witchy mind of the author as she takes us on a ride through Thistle Grove. A remarkable book and a hundred percent recommended for paranormal novel readers and general novel lovers as well.
