Low self-esteem got us here. You’ll see what I mean when you read the book. This is something you’d expect from some small-time character, but no, this is Alexi. Can he overcome his hesitation and self-doubt? Love doesn’t wait, so we can only hope that it’s not too late.

Part 1: The Story of Once Rejected, Twice Desired
Once Rejected, Twice Desired is about a young she-wolf. She is full of expectations about her coming of age. Expectations founded on stories that she has been fed from time immemorial about the intricacies of the werewolf nature. Alaia’s expectations crumble to dust however, because in the end, expectations can’t always be reality.
Humans are an unfathomable depth and thinking that they’ll act according to expectations is completely naïve
As a wolf, there are two things to look forward to when you turn eighteen. There’s your first shift and there’s your mate. Coming of age allows the wolf to enjoy these two gifts from the moon goddess. However, Alaia is completely shattered to find that her mate really doesn’t want anything to do with her.
While she had no idea what his reasons were, there is no way to escape the feelings of insecurity.
Alaia’s story is nothing difficult to fathom. However, we see that though they decide to accept the situation for what it is, their fate pulls them back together in one way or the other.
I rarely tag books like this or label them as a cliché teen romance, but Once Rejected, Twice Desired has all of the tropes.
Part 2: Main Character of Once Rejected, Twice Desired
Alaia
Her character in Once Rejected, Twice Desired, is a carefree young woman who has finally attained adulthood. Her first challenge is one she could have never foreseen. It comes as a stroke of good luck and also a complete jinx. She finally got something she had always wanted but what she wanted didn’t want her back.
It’s a shock to a girl so young and full of hopes about what her love would be like, what her life would turn out to be. She is completely taken aback as her expectations are turned into crap right as he says the words of rejection.
How did a gift from the deity turn out to be so painful? How did she end up in this position? Her story wasn’t meant to go this way. Literally everything had been perfect until this moment when he reduced her heart to ash. She struggles to accept the cruel reality but puts on a brave face, trying to look as unconcerned as she can.
They won’t see how much she hurts. They will never know what she must deal with. At some point it will hurt less and she could go back to some semblance of normalcy that she could possibly stomach. But for now, it hurt like hell.
Alaia’s character is built around this idea of a pink, perfect and wonderful teenage dream. As someone who hasn’t faced much difficulty, she is suddenly given this big hurdle she must surpass. Not to mention she is only eighteen and had been keeping her heart for the forever dream.
Part 3: Thoughts About Once Rejected, Twice Desired
Once Rejected, Twice Desired begs a lot to be considered from the characters and their relationships with each other to the setting and the backstories. I find that the author could have done a better job of throwing more light on the tormented personality of the male lead, rather than the minor irrelevant details of the character’s reluctance to commit.
However, the tale makes a lot of sense in a modern era where hookup culture is the norm and persistent attachment to one person is disliked.
Once Rejected, Twice Desired turns a bit on its head in the first chapters but that is not to be criticized or disliked for an overly embellished nature. I enjoy the slight tussle between the two main characters. Their indecision and fears leave a savory aftertaste at the end of each chapter.
The protagonist is caught off guard a lot by the events that unfold. But it’s the way things usually go with matters of the heart; when you think you know everything about yourself, a hidden part you never thought would exist, shows up out of the blue in response to a crisis of emotions.
Part 4: Amazing Chapter from Once Rejected, Twice Desired
Chapter Six – Rejected
Alexi wove through traffic as he cursed. He was heading to the party as fast as he can after a day at the mall.
He got a call from his buddy Aaron and the latter told him the good news; he’d found his mate.
Alexi thought about his mate. He definitely did not want one. It was not that such a love was something he didn’t want to experience. Rather, he didn’t feel worthy of it. He was a man-whore and if his mate was someone perfect, saving themselves for him, then she deserved someone better.
After congratulating Aaron on last time, they hung up. As Alexi got closer to the house, he felt his wolf turn restless. He ignored it and got out of the car, walking towards the stairs. Suddenly his wolf began to howl and a wonderful scent from earlier beckoned on Alexi. As he got closer, he saw Alaia, beautiful and stunning. They locked eyes and he heard himself say “Mate.”
Alaia couldn’t believe it. Her mate was the one she had always wanted. However, instead of the instant clinginess she expected, he invited her into his room.
Alaia saw Alexi with a worried look on his face. But before she could ask what was wrong, she heard him say the words of rejection that she had never expected would come from her mate.
She fell to the ground, feeling like all the air was knocked out her lungs. However, she managed to ask him “Why?”
Alexi’s reason was that he never wanted to be tied to one woman and no woman is going to change that.
