Donnovan Brody had just gone through a divorce for various reasons. In the prologue of the book, he was seen having a conversation with his wife about the obvious. They needed to be apart. Suspicion and doubt had overshadowed what used to be an intense relationship filled with love between Donovan and his wife. But it all took a down-toll.
Donnovans wife suspected him of having an affair with a lady in his office, and so she had sex with one of her subordinates as a result. Donovan knew about the fact that she had an affair, but he kept it to himself because he also had his dirty secret and it was not even as his wife thought. That he had an affair with a lady in his office, no! Donovan Brody was attracted to his senior colleague at the literary and creative club that he worked in, and this said senior colleague, or employer as one would prefer to call it, was a man.
Yes, Donovan Brody was met with homosexual tendencies during this time.

Part 1: Main Story of Dear Mr. Brody
Donnovan Brody’s wife didn’t even know that her husband’s sexual interest had gone beyond the mundane. She thought that he was attracted to another lady. Well, if only she knew. He was attracted to another man. Would it have been more hurtful?
I don’t know how I would feel if the man that I am dating becomes distant from me, and then I find out that he is attracted to another man. I will be cross. To think that a man finds another man more attractive than me, a woman. Anyway, a bunch of secrets and doubts between the couple led to a divorce, and Donovan Brody left his home to live somewhere else.
Then he met Parker. Yes, after Mr. Brody got a divorce, he needed to clear his head and reset his mind per se, so he took another job other than the one he did at the literary club he worked with the boss that he was attracted to. One of the dialogues between Donovan and his boss at the literary center was his boss hoping that his new job didn’t pay Donovan better.
He was not ready to lose Donovan completely. Thankfully, the new jobs pay could not be compared to Donnovans other job pay. Donovan Brody became a part-time lecturer, teaching literary and creative writing, and this was where he met Parker.
Parker was a junior in the college that Mr. Brody lectured at. A former Air-force officer, he decided to take a creative writing course, and there he met a man called Donovan Brody, his lecturer.
Mr. Brody had met Parker on a dating APP before meeting him in real life. But there were restraints. Well, where are there restraints? Maybe only in Mr. Brody’s mind. The student-teacher relationship that they had made it somewhat difficult for Donovan Brody to plunge into the relationship with Parker the way he would have loved to, or the way it should have been naturally.
Besides, they had an age gap of ten years. Age gaps don’t matter to me as far as both parties are adults and they both agree to be together.
I also think that in a situation of age-gap difference, the older person is usually more head over heels for the younger one but tends to douse it with the excuse of their age being too far apart. Back to the subject at hand, Donovan Brody’s daughter, whom he spent days in the week with intermittently with his ex-wife, grew fond of Parker pretty quickly.
An adolescent, she grew used to him and looked forward to seeing Parker now and then. This was a plus in the relationship between Donovan and Parker. The relationship eventually scaled through, but not without a series of back and forth between Donovan Brody and Parker. Letters and texts between them gave birth to the title of the book, Dear Mr. Brody.
Part 2: Main Characters of Dear Mr. Brody
Donnovan Brody
In Dear Mr. Brody’s book, Donovan, as he was usually called in the book, was a literary agent. He was a creative writer that worked in a literary company, and first acknowledged his attraction to men when he saw that he seemingly could not stop drooling about his boss.
I hardly call him Donnovans boss because their relationship was light and hardly carried an air of boss and subordinate vibe with it. Donovan, AKA Mr. Brody, was in a pit stop in his marriage to his wife-turned-ex-wife in the course of the book. She cheated on him, and apart from that, they had become distant because his wife thought that Donovan was having an affair with another woman.
If only she knew that her dear husband was attracted to another man, and not necessarily another woman. Well, he went through with the divorce with his wife, and a couple of months later, he got a part-time job as an associate lecturer, teaching literary and creative writing. That was where he met his new romantic interest, Parker.
Parker
Dear Mr. Brody, Parker wrote a couple of times in the course of the book. A veteran air-force officer, he opted to study creative writing and became a junior at the college that Donovan Brody was lecturing at part-time. That was he met face-face with the man that he had already been chatting with and pretty hooked up with on a dating APP.
The back and forth that Parker had with Mr. Brody was a result of Donovan Brody not being sure if he should continue with the relationship with Parker when found out that Parker was his student. Read the book to find out if Parker stuck around or not.
