After the mysterious lightning that streaked the entire sky of the nine provinces with its blinding lights? The Imperial City experts by the order of their leader searched the nine provinces without success, in an effort to find the baby they assumed might’ve absorbed the powers of the nine lightning beasts.
Their five years of effort were wasted because they were searching in the wrong place.
Everyone in the nine provinces still remembered the lightning incident that happened five years ago, including Chu Feng, as he was ten years old then.
Now he was fifteen and worked as an outer disciple of the Azure Dragon School – a demeaning role for a person of his caliber because he couldn’t level up his spiritualism.
Deep down he knew the reason why his endless efforts to level up never worked, but it still pained him that even tho, he was adopted, he was the only one in the Chu family where he was from that experienced this kind of issue, and people made sure to mock him for this.
As no situation is permanent, luck finally shines on him when his cousin decides to help him level up by giving him a Saint Spirit Grass. With the help of this, Chu Feng was able to spontaneously level up from two to three, and then four.
And what’s more, he was even able to activate the powers of the nine lightning beasts he had absorbed five years ago.

Part 1: Main Characters of Martial God Asura
Chu Feng
Chu Feng is the main protagonist of Martial God Asura. He is fifteen years old and works as an outer disciple in the Azure Dragon School. Unlike his cousins Chu Yue, and Chu Zhen, for some reason Chu Feng can’t seem to level up his spiritualism.
It is suspected that this is so because he is not biologically from the bloodline of the Chu family as he was adopted by Chu Yuan, his stepfather. But Alas that’s not the reason why he can’t level up his spiritualism.
The real reason was that five years ago, during the mysterious nine-beast lightning that streaked the sky of the nine provinces with its blinding lights, a ten years old Chu Feng had been the one who absorbed the powers of the nine lightning beasts and not a newborn baby.
This was why the Imperial City experts couldn’t find who absorbed the powers because they were looking in the wrong place.
And as for Chu Feng who absorbed the powers, the nine lightning beasts in him were so hungry for energy that they absorbed all the efforts that would’ve helped him level up, to feed their hunger.

Chapter One
Continuing his demeaning job as an outer disciple in the Azure Dragon School, Chu Feng was beseeched once more by his cousin Chu Yue who offered to assist him to level up his spiritualism. As usual, he tried to decline her offer, but after much pressure from Chu Yue, he succumbed and finally accepted the Saint Spirit Grass she gave him.
After his time in the temple, Chu Feng retreated to his room and tried to activate his spiritual energy with the Saint Spirit Grass, and to his greatest surprise, it worked.
Not only was it able to fill the chasm inside him because of the nine lightning beasts inside him, but he was also able to level up two steps instead of one. It could be said that his efforts had paid off.
When the race for the martial arts skill book and the saint spirit grass got too difficult that even the most competitive disciples who were at the forefront were forced to slow down, Chu Feng utilized this opportunity to breeze past them undetected.
When the elders watching saw this, they decided to make things a little bit difficult for him so he wouldn’t just take the rewards easily.
However, instead of releasing one beast, they accidentally released all forty vicious beasts. Chu Feng was in trouble but he didn’t know this yet.
Chapter Three
After activating his powers, Chu Feng was now excited that after five years, he could now participate in the annual inner disciple exams. It was a very competitive race which was why he never bothered joining because even level three disciples rarely ever passed, and at the time he was just at level two – but not anymore now.
The reason why the exam was tough too was that everyone coveted the martial arts skill book that belonged to only the person that came in the first position.
This was why the number of participants this year doubled because in addition to the martial arts skill book, the winner would be given five Saint Spirit Grasses too. This was why Chu Feng was hell-bent on participating because just like everyone else, he wanted them to.
But because he didn’t want to be noticed, Chu Feng decided that his best strategy would be to mix with the crowd and let the two competitors who were at the forefront clear the road for him until he got the perfect opportunity to use his skills undetected to pass the exam.
Chapter Four
At last, when Chu Feng entered the room where the martial arts skill book and the saint spirit grass were housed, he was stunned to meet all forty fierce beasts waiting to devour him.
He knew they were usually brought out to make the exams difficult but never did he expect that this much would be released at once. Nonetheless, he refused to let them deter him from his mission.
Coming to this resolution, Chu Feng fought his way through all forty fierce beasts, killing them before he retrieved his reward. His plan was to keep his abilities low-key, but little did Chu Feng know that while he was fighting the fierce beasts, the elders were watching him.
