Vampire’s Slice of Life is a novel that undertakes Fantasy, Harem, Slice of Life, Adventure, and Romance, and is Rated 18 genres and provides a story written by SocialHippo that is nothing short of unique and refreshing.

It starts off with Lith, reincarnated as a baby after dying in a plane accident. Though, this was not any regular reincarnation. He was reincarnated as a vampire, the son of the Vampire Queen who was one of the strongest beings around in that world.

Immediately we are introduced to Lith’s rather realistic personality. Since he retained most memories, teachings, and habits from his past life, Lith sexualized his mother, Lilith, and sister, Lucy upon sight and gave them fitting descriptions.

He saw more of a sexual interest in them and their bodies instead of one that bonded them as family. Of course, this was only because he was unfamiliar with their language and had no idea who they were. Therefore, he reacted as he would if he was a human instead of a vampire.

It is obviously intended for adults. This introduction may come as a negative factor to most readers, and while it may, it’s necessary to understand that this take on incest is somewhat realistic and the reasoning behind that is very evident.

The main character, in his past life, was a pervert who probably had no relationships. He reacts naturally when he is introduced to two beautiful women who he gets intimate with since that’s just how his world operates. The author was aware of how people dislike incest as a concept and they pointed out that this, while it still is a controversial system, may be acceptable to some.

The main theme of Vampire’s Slice of Life

Vampire’s Slice of Life has thematic representations that cover almost everything. It can be humorous at times, somewhat steamy (a lot of the time), dark and broody at times, and sometimes even gives the reader a wholesome sensation. This is what I love about Vampire’s Slice of life, it is very diverse and does justice to the ‘Slice of Life’ aspect of its title.

In the most intimate moments, Lith would have the daringness to crack a joke which would make me chuckle unreasonably loud.

For example, in one case Lith discovers that vampires get very intimate when their blood is sucked from the neck and sucks the blood from Lilith’s neck. She starts getting aroused and after discovering of this, Lith mocks the dense isekai protagonists from other pieces of work and plans to take full advantage of that. I cannot put into words how hilarious that moment was.

The intimacy is also very evident throughout the entirety of the series. The main character takes every chance he can to breastfeed in the beginning, be it his mother or sister.

He eventually makes kissing a norm in his family and the author made a clever excuse for the rapid incest scenes which boils down to it being natural for vampires and a few other races while some races detest it. While it is a bit cliche, I will say it is cleverly convenient.

Part 2: Main Characters and Setting of Vampire’s Slice of Life

Lith is supposedly the main character of the novel, constantly overshadowed by more important characters, however. He started out interesting and realistic.

When he realized that Lilith and Lucy were his mother and sister, he appropriately managed his actions to be more fitting to that of a baby. This is so that his family would not be suspicious of him and so that he can slowly get things going his way as well. He also took advantage of his family for his pleasure in ways that came across as wholesome to his family.

This was a good beginning for Lith and made his character interesting, though inevitably I started to get the feeling that he is just more of a protagonist than a main character. This is because his mother, Lilith, just plays the main character role better.

He is undeniably hilarious when he gets the opportunity, going as far as to classify Lucifer as a NEET and making bold yet hilarious comments on the ‘assets’ of his family. The story progresses as Lith gets older and starts developing enough to do fully what he desires to do. This is, keeping in mind, that he watched anime in his past life and was a virgin.

Lilith, the mother, is a fascinating character who drives the plot. She appears strong and capable of creating devastation in the new world, but she loves her children. As the chapters advance, Lilith’s past and ruthless and powerful side become more intriguing. She adores her kids. Lucy, like her brother, travels with her mother but is shyer and less assertive.

This novel has wonderful worldbuilding. When it’s often too long, I’m lost in the author’s passion-filled universe. If not for the dense smut sequences in the initial chapters, this story’s setting would be a spectacle I can’t get enough of. A crimson Silver Moon suggests daytime despite the darkness. The color disappears at night. I enjoy this series’ simple items.

Part 3: Conclusion

Lilith-Image

Vampire’s slice of life is an admirably unique spectacle that alarmed me at first with its interesting takes on intimacy, comedy, and world-building. The chemistries of Lilith, Lith, and Lucy are something that is truly entertaining and worthy of praise.

The side characters really bring the novel to life and in later chapters, more than the main character himself. This is due to the introduction of further reincarnated humans who feel more like the main character than Lith. This does not derivate away from the fact that the novel is beyond entertaining to read.

The use of incest, while I still cannot accept it in any given situation, is not as bad or obnoxious as most other cases. The harem aspect of the novel is also executed in a decent fashion. Though this novel has several other problems and the memories of Lith’s past life are a primary source.

Going deeper and deeper into the novel, it feels as though his memories hold him down. This is especially amplified by the fact that he essentially took advantage of his conditions in the beginning of the series regardless of the conditions but is later bound by laws of life that do not apply to him anymore. That, while I find it ridiculous, does not act as a dealbreaker.

I could not stop reading this novel ever since I started and I don’t think I will anytime soon. No matter how far deep you go, the world reveals newer things about itself, the characters develop more and more, and the novel seems to evolve. See for yourself by reading it!
