The story starts off rather boldly, from the perspective of Yileyna as she sneaks off from her baths with her best friend, Charlene, the future Royal Queen of the packs. They checked to see whether the coast was clear for guards and ran off from the doors. Though, in the process, Yileyna noticed a bunch of looks that inculcated disgust and negativity being targeted toward her.

While roaming around, Yileyna noticed Rhys, the son of her pack’s Gamma. This results in a flashback to 2 months ago, during which Yileyna lost her parents. She was able to save Rhys, though unable to save her own parents. She locked her eyes into the seven-year-old’s eyes and thought deeper and deeper into her past. This moment, while reading it, sent a few chills down my spine as did Yileyna’s spine.

The death of her parents was indirectly her fault since it could have been avoided if she hadn’t followed them. Though, her pack entirely blamed it on her and hated her for it, sharing animosity with her on sight.

Yileyna then remembers Theon, her crush, and Charlene’s bodyguard screaming out to her that her parents had died. Yileyna, engulfed in her negativity, wonders if she would ever shift into her wolf form, despite her nearing the age of seventeen then.

Two women make offensive remarks to Yileyna, though Charlene immediately changes the subject to cheer her up. They eventually reach the coast, their destination. After some rather disturbing scenes that went very in-depth into the physical features of both girls, they go for a swim after getting into their lingerie.

Charlene swam away, leaving Yileyna alone. Theon shows up, demanding that she gets out. Before Yileyna did, all she could do was a remark on how attractive Theon was, he wanted them to meet the Alpha King.

Part 1: Main Theme of My Alpha’s Betrayal

Main Theme of My Alphas Betrayal

My Alpha’s Betrayal portrays itself as a werewolf-oriented story, though it never really shows. The concepts of a werewolf world apply, though they’re never executed or fleshed out in the beginning and middle chapters. The author really wants to take their time with developing the characters… and giving us erotic scenes.

Sexual expressiveness is a common trope within this novel. At most chances possible, there will be a somewhat erotic remark made. This was seen first with Yileyna and Charlene going to the coast and swimming and Yileyna thirsting over Theon. Though, eventually, the author just gave us fully-fledged erotic scenes. While they aren’t necessarily badly written, their placement varies.

My Alpha’s Betrayal is, oddly enough, a romance. A unique one, especially since the synopsis just has a dialogue about the body being the only thing of value in a one-night stand. The take on romance within this story is unique in the sense that it develops its own form throughout the novel, building itself piece by piece until we get a normalized rendition of romance.

Part 2: A Glaring Problem of My Alpha’s Betrayal

Early on in the series, we immediately know that it’s going to be a slow start that develops into its own thing once we get a primary objective. Though, the story makes sudden twists and turns that you don’t really expect. I wasn’t able to guess that we’d get a one-night stand chapter only a little bit after getting introduced to the wholesome friendship of Charlene and Yileyna.

Eventually, with its overwhelming number of erotic scenes, we forget that this is a werewolf novel and instead it feels more like an aimless adventure that just gives you the most random experiences. While this is most definitely a negative, it was enjoyable nonetheless, a confusing type of enjoyable.

Character backgrounds and actual story progression get progression a little later in the novel, behind a series of erotic moments that make you forget the purpose of the novel, its true aim. It was also a little stretched out for Charlene to take credit for saving Theon’s life.

Part 3: A Glaring Positive on My Alpha’s Betrayal

Main Theme of My Alphas Betrayal

A Glaring Positive

The characters are very well developed. This applies to some more than others, though it is generally applicable. I especially loved Theon’s character, everything he does is so mysterious and each action of his has you questioning why it was done and who he really is. As you read more, you’ll find yourself beyond interested in his character.

Yileyna isn’t particularly extraordinarily written, per se, though she is one that sparks my interest every time she does something. She has a sense of realism to her, and her tragic past adds depth to her character exponentially.

The rest of the characters are likable, and the author knows which ones they want you to dislike. The characters may very well be the selling point of this novel.

Part 4: Conclusive Remarks

My Alpha’s Betrayal is an interesting novel, to say the least. It was an enjoyable experience to read through it as I found myself lost within its numerous tropes and odd experiences.

Yileyna’s introduction felt like it was leading me to one place, while it led to the other. These unexpected twists and turns that the author presents to us add to the enjoyability of the novel.

The plot twists are beautiful as well, these make the series shine and give it a good little bit of character.

While I did feel lost a few chapters in, not fully being aware of where the author was trying to go, I had fun reading all of the erotic chapters and was pleasantly surprised when the story started developing itself as well. It’s a fun little roller-coaster that you start to appreciate because of its flaws.

The Luna Trials is a similar novel that undertakes similar concepts of betrayal.
