J Bree’s Blood Bonds, a delectable dark, twisted reverse harem erotic tale is the third instalment in ‘The Blood that Tie’ series.
This story is the perfect depiction of hate to love troop which contains five powerful bonds and a kick-ass heroine.
So if you are a fan of strong-headed female leads with special powers then this book will garner your interest.
Triggering Warning: The book, ‘Blood Bonds’ contains torture kidnapping, explicit sexual content, and violence so highly recommended to 18+ audiences.
Part 1: Book Review of Blood Bonds
“Mine, you’re mine. No one will hurt you again. Not me, not anyone. The shadows cannot harm you, they belong to you as I do. We all do.” – J Bree (Blood Bonds)
J Bree’s, ‘Blood Bonds’ is a character-driven book rather than plot-driven.
The beginning of the book was exactly what most of us had expected. The divulgence from the last book was revealed and finally, we got to know who was the villain in this series.
It also helped me to figure out the reason behind the tension in the previous two instalments.
It was both a happy and sad moment to see Oleander back in the place which made and at the same time break her – Resistance Camp.
But the major difference this time was the change shown in people including her bonds as they were looking forward and hoping to save her.
As her past was revealed and the reason she ran away from the camp earlier.
Moreover, the only wish she had was, ‘They will reach her in time.’
And then we reached the cliffhanger. I was like, “Oh, have I reached the end already and how?”
I had no idea how my endearing Ole was going to deal with the news but it was surely going to shatter her heart. I am eager to see how it follows up in the next book.
So, this book, ‘Blood Bonds’ is an action-packed series with lots of unexpected twists and hot steamy encounters between Ole and the boys.
In this instalment, there is the introduction of fresh ideas which is barely seen in this genre where drama ought to be similar at times.
Although the story pace is a bit slow and the action was pretty much the same as compared to the last two books in this series, it was still enjoyable.
Overall I find this a great addition to this series. I recommend this to everyone who prefers slower, character-focused books over heavy plots.
Part 2: Story Plot and Characters of ‘Blood Bonds’
Story plot of ‘Blood Bonds’
Blood Bonds is a PNR, reverse harem erotic tale.
At the beginning of the story, the author diligently revealed the parts of the previous two installments which helped me to figure out the reason behind the tension there.
Meanwhile, we learn about the past of the main protagonist, Oleander Fallows and the war.
That impacted so much on her bonds (Gabe, Gryphon, Atlas, North and Nox) that they started understanding what she had been through and revealed the reason behind her exit from the camp.
I liked to see how she made progress with her bonds and the way they get overprotective around her.
Then finally we get to see some steamy and hot encounters between Oleander and the men.
Later she got kidnapped again and she once again dropped everyone dead. But the real twist came when she was desperately waiting for them to reach her in time and the news broke.
The news was a brutal cliffhanger for us and the author J Bree ripped a hole through my heart.
The villain of this story deserved the harshest punishment for what he had done to Ole when she was young and even tried to repeat that.
I hope the boys treat him in the worst possible way!
Characters of ‘Blood Bonds’
Oleander Fallows
Our nineteen-year-old kick-ass heroine. She is a good-hearted person who is assertive that she did right by rejecting her bonds for the sake of saving the world.
Her character development in this particular instalment is commendable and for this, the author deserves all the praise.
She is one of the fictional characters we can look forward to.
North Draven
A twenty-nine-year-old, with a strong gift of bringing death by touching people.
Initially, I found him controlling and full of rage because he thought Ole ran away.
But he finally let his walls down. Then he realized where he was wrong and proved to be caring and protective towards her later.
I always liked him more as compared to others.
Gabe (Gabriel) Ardern
A shifter who is romantic and good at heart.
I loved the moment when he befriended Ole.
Nox
He is the younger half-brother of North Draven with the gift of nightmares and is still in search of his other gifts.
He is on my list of least favourite characters due to his dirty mouth and anger issues.
Gryphon Shore
He is a certified neuro, the reason he always knew what Ole needed.
He is a decent guy and my second favourite character in this whole series.
Atlas Bassinger
Initially, he lived on the other side of the country but later on transferred to Draven university.
Although I didn’t like Ole’s decisions regarding him due to trust issues, I’m looking forward to getting to know more about his characters in the next instalment.
As the book had themes of multiple POVs, I not only got to know about Ole’s characters but also got a deep depth about the characters of Gabe, Gryphon, Atlas, Nox and especially North.
This helped me a lot to know and trust these characters more.
