Part 1: Plot Summary of Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman’s Sinner Wife

Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife: Madeline and Henry

The story follows Madeline who, by a twist of events, winds up sleeping with Jeremy Whitman, the man she has been in love with for years. This would be a happy occurrence, but it is marred by the fact that Jeremy was drugged and that is what led to that situation. Before they could gather themselves the next day, reporters showed up and just like that, there was a scandal on their hands. In order to take the strain off the Whitman family, the patriarch had the two people get married.

The marriage was a descent into hell for Madeline. Her husband despised her for using tricks to get with him. He hated her for causing himself and Madeline’s sister, Meredith to be torn apart. Madeline wasn’t given the chance to tell her side of the story. People hated her and scorned her for being a desperate woman.

Madeline discovered that she was pregnant, but she was unable to tell the hateful man because he would have her kill her child. They soon heard that Meredith had tried to kill herself. Madeline hurries to the hospital and there she is beaten and abused by the parents who adopted her. She was sent out limping. However, she returned when she realized that her phone had been dropped somewhere. She got back to the door of the room and there she heard all the plans that her adoptive parents and sister cooked up.

Why Read Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman’s Sinner Wife?

Read it for the schemes.

They had made an elaborate scheme to get Jeremy to marry Meredith, but as the universe would have it, Madeline was the one who got to reap the benefits of drugging Jeremy. She wound up in Jeremy’s bed and Meredith wound up shagging a stranger because she had taken the drug as well, hoping for a wild night.

Madeline hears all of this and after going inside to confront the despicable people, she understood that truly a vile person won’t change. However, all attempts to get Jeremy to believe her were a complete failure. There is only so much a woman can take from a bastard husband, his wicked and rude family as well as her own repulsive one. Eventually, the same bastard that beat her up when she was pregnant, is the same one who will kneel at her feet for forgiveness. Getting to that point is only a matter of time.

Part 2: Main Character of Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman’s Sinner Wife

Madeline

Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife: Madeline

She is a girl adopted from an orphanage for the purpose of donating bone marrow. No doubt, this was why the people who were supposed to be her adoptive parents, both didn’t hesitate to throw her under the bus. Even their daughter who Madeline had truly cared for, came out with her true colors.

The most shocking thing, however, is the way Jeremy treats her. She is the girl he had cared for when they were little, yet he despised her so much that he laid his hands on her. Jeremy doesn’t even welcome the possibility that he could be blindsided by the person he had fallen in love with.

Madeline is a young woman who has been through some really bad experiences, but they didn’t make her lose the goodness she still retained. Even when the world looked down on her, it didn’t do much. However, learning about the fact that she was the cannon fodder in the plans of the people she called family, destroyed a vital part of the light she had carried for so long.

The conversation she did/didn’t have with Jeremy about their baby, was another wake-up call. However, there’s the big one to look forward to. Since Madeline couldn’t understand that life wasn’t going to get better in that marriage, she needed this one slap from the universe.

Part 3: Awesome Chapter from Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman’s Sinner Wife

Chapter Nine

Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife: Jeremy

Madeline felt unwell. It was as if her heart had been sliced a thousand times. She reaffirmed to Jeremy that she was telling the truth, and that everything was all Meredith’s plan. Jeremy on the other hand, was brutal in his comeback. He told Madeline that only Meredith’s feelings were important.

Madeline understood what that meant; even the truth didn’t matter, so she was wasting her time. Madeline’s heart sank as she lost hope. She smiled bitterly and agreed to apologize for slapping Meredith who claimed to be pregnant for Jeremy. Madeline knew about the tramp Meredith had slept with on the night she drugged Jeremy, but Jeremy didn’t believe her and even slapped her. There was no other way to go about this.

She endured the pain in her body as she bowed her head in apology to Meredith. During that action, she caught sight of the victorious smile which was in huge contrast to the crying face that she had carried only a moment ago.

Days after, as Madeline finished up her work in the office, she thought about Jeremy. The other employees got off early, but Madeline didn’t, she would end up alone in that house. It was late when she suddenly felt hungry. She touched her stomach and remembered her child. The thought of the life growing inside her gave her comfort. She was about to leave when she got a call from Jeremy. The same man who had never once called her.

Madeline answered the call happily, only to hear a woman moaning Jeremy’s name on the other end.

Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife: Madeline and Her Husband

Family can be so goddamn messed up. In fact, people are just wicked, down to the smallest essence. That is humanity and few escape the evils of our species without scars. It is a powerful message that this book, and just like it, His Wife’s Cry gives us a tale similarly compelling.
