In Let Me Hold You Book, Kimberly Hampton handled a summer camp program for teenagers in her community. It was a black community that harbored children faced with poverty, bullying, a dysfunctional family, as well as other extreme measures that a typical black centralized community could be faced with.
A basketball summer camp would certainly distract them from the toughness in their lives and create opportunities for them. The ones that care to take it as a career, and advance to the next level that is. One of the volunteers to handle these special needs children in this summer camp was no other person than Leland McClain, the last son of the McClain family.
Oh, I thought to add an aside: This book has other series with LeLand McClains other brothers doing their bit, but this review is centered on LeLand McClain, a basketball professional. He volunteered to train the children in the camp. How endearing and nice of a basketball star. Most basketball stars would be too busy living life to care about anything like children with special needs.

Part 1: Main Story of Let Me Hold You
Let Me Hold You Book starts on a pretty decent and regular note with Leland McClain resuming his volunteer duty at the center where the camp was being held.
Oh! Needless to say, he had just left his hotel suite where he had been with an older lady overnight. Leland had a knack for older ladies as he considered them the real deal. According to Leland McClain in Let Me Hold You Book, older ladies were more seasoned than ladies of the same age group as him. He was introduced to the kids by Kimberly Hampton.
Already popular, the kids were gawking and delighted to see him. Not much was spoken about Leland McClain at the beginning of the book from what he did at the center of the camp where he was volunteering.
On the other hand, Kimberly Hampton had her backstory. After what she considered countless failed relationships, she settled for sexual exercises with an older man that had a dysfunctional marriage at the time. She said she was with him because he helped to keep the cobwebs away from her woman place.
*Laughs* The spark between LeLand McClain and Kimberly Hampton started after Kimberly’s casual lover told her that he was ready to end their affair because his marriage was beginning to come back to life and he could not cheat on his wife anymore, doing the same thing that made her leave him in the first place.
Kimberly was back to square one as a result. Actually, in her mind, she had ruled out the possibility of dating again.
She was only interested in sex, and nothing more. No strings, no attachments, and no consequences. All this was happening with Leland McClain right under her nose. He was attracted to her, but he did not consider her as one that would fit his description of an older woman, even if she was older than him by a couple of years.
Following the downturn of sexual events between Kimberly Hampton and her casual lover, LeLand McClain and the director of the community center that held the camp for teenagers started to find themselves in awkward positions.
However, when it was glaring that they were likely to start a romantic affair, Kimberly Hampton’s unavailability for love got the better of her, and I can imagine how Leland had felt to be met with a brick wall every time he felt that they had reached the moment of truth for a romantic affair to spark up between them.
Let Me Hold You Kimberly Hampton, would have to have been LeLand McClain’s mantra during the book.
Part 2: Main Characters of Let Me Hold You
Kimberly Hampton
Let Me Hold You Kimberly Hampton, was LeLand McClain’s reality in this book. A director at a community center that hosted children with special needs, she got entangled with Leland McClain an NBA superstar that had volunteered to train the teenagers at her community center.
Following the end of a casual relationship that she had with a much older man, Kimberly Hampton became available for a romantic affair even if she was not interested in one, and LeLand McClain was there, asking Kimberly Hampton to let him hold her.
LeLand McClain
LeLand McClain was a professional basketball player that was an of the major league. When Kimberly Hampton heard that he was volunteering at her community center, she could hardly believe it until she saw him for herself.
LeLand was the one saying, Let Me Hold You in this novel, and he was saying it to Kimberly Hampton. He was available. Well, he happened to have found her attractive enough, besides she was available too, so why not. They had at least one thing in common, and that was a drive and concern for kids that needed some form of help in the community. He was a hero of some sort.
In the previous series of the McClain Brothers Books, LeLan McClain brothers had already blazed the trail before Leland, the last son of the McClain family came on board. Also, Leland McClain had a knack for older women, one of the things that made him consider finding Kimberly Hampton attractive, even though he had first told himself that she was not old enough.
Part 3: Evaluate Let Me Hold You
The book gives taboo vibes. Though subtle, it creates a spark for readers because of the age difference between the lead male and the female. With precise language and zero time to beat around the bush, the author transports the readers of this book into the love life of Kimberly Hampton.
For such a book that talks about humanity and giving back, I was surprised to see that the author did not spend time with complex plots and choice of words while narrating the story.
It is a plus for me as the author. The characters are well thought out and portrayed vividly to the extent that the reader would surely be able to picture them in his or her mind’s eye while reading the book. The plot, as I said earlier was clear, and pretty realistic. In a nutshell, the book was relatable.
Out of a hundred percent, I will generously score Let Me Hold You Book a hundred percent because the author’s pen game was at its best during the time of penning down this book.
