Jingle All The Way by Debbie Macomber follows the story of a successful independent businesswoman, Everly ‘Daisy’ Lancaster who finds herself stuck on an Amazon Explorer instead of being on a cruise ship for what was supposed to be the perfect vacation.
Prior to that, Everly Lancaster used to lead a successful but busy life in Chicago growing her start-up Easy Home.
Things were going pretty well for her until she crossed paths with Annette Howington – a carefree, spoiled, irresponsible, entitled young woman, whom her (Everly’s) partner and CEO, Jack Campbell had highly recommended because she (Annette Howington) was his niece.
From the day she’s hired, Annette begins to make mistakes – costly errors. This bothers Everly so much that she decides to drop the unqualified nepo baby working as her assistant. She speaks to her partner (and Annette’s uncle too) Jack Campbell about her decision but he refuses and instead insists she takes some days off to go on a vacation and cool off. Everly is left with no option so she agrees.
With the decision made, Jack Campbell instructs his niece Annette to book a vacation for Everly. Annette nods and moves swiftly to work, utilizing this opportunity to get back at Everly for threatening to fire her.
With everything in place, Everly flies to Brazil on a very tight schedule thanks to bad weather. She’s confused, exhausted, and bitten by a mosquito but she still manages to catch her ship – And then things begin to go wrong. First, she realizes that her evil assistant Annette had tricked her by booking her an Amazon explorer with no internet access, instead of a fancy cruise ship. And as if things can’t get any worse, she gets down with malaria due to a mosquito bite.
Amidst the chaos, Everly meets the explorer’s guide, Asher Adams who nurses her back to health and they begin to develop feelings for each other even though they live in different worlds.

Everly Daisy Lancaster
Everly Daisy Lancaster is a successful independent woman who leads a busy life in Chicago, growing her startup Easy Home.
As the middle child in a family of five siblings (two older sisters, Rose and Lily, and two younger twin brothers, Jeff and John), Everly had always felt sandwiched between her siblings and it was what drove her to strive to be better than them.
Her sisters Rose and Lily married early. Her brothers, Jeff and John joined their father in their farming enterprise, but it was only Everly who got top grades, was voted in high school as most likely to succeed, was granted a full scholarship to the university of Indiana, graduated magna cum laude, and grew her start-up Easy Home from the ground with Jack Campbell.
Everly had always been at the top of her game until she met her assistant Annette, a spoiled, entitled, young woman who tricked her (by threatening to fire her) into going to the Amazon rainforest in Brazil, heavily underprepared.
As if being tricked to board an Amazon explorer instead of a cruise ship isn’t enough, Everly is quickly struck down by malaria, but is lucky to be nursed back to health by the explorer guide, Asher Adams.
Asher Adams
Asher Adams is a naturalist who has been working on the Amazon explorer for years. He is an introvert but he’s never shy to educate travelers about the flora and fauna in the rainforest. He loves wildlife so much that he once rejected his brother’s offer to get him a job as a professor in Chicago.
Another reason why he rejected this offer was that he sincerely didn’t like the noise, hustle, and bustle of the city. Cities weren’t somewhere he could thrive
Like every other time, Asher did his job as a naturalist, educating travelers about the rainforest, until he met Everly Daisy Lancaster, an interesting young woman who complained nonstop about how she was on the wrong ship and needed to get off.
Of course, it’s not possible for that to happen but things take a twist when Everly is bedridden with malaria and he takes it upon himself to take care of her.
In the course of taking care of Everyly, they both begin to catch feelings for each other.
Annette Howington
Annette Howington is a carefree, spoiled, irresponsible, entitled young woman who works as Everly Daisy Lancaster’s assistant. The Gen Z who was ‘highly recommended’ to Everly by her uncle (and also Everly’s partner) Jack Campbell, became a pain to Everly from the onset
Being underqualified for her position she made several costly mistakes that Everly decided to fire her, but because her uncle was the CEO of Easy Home it wasn’t granted.
Because she feels entitled, Annette decides to get back at Everly when she’s tasked to arrange Everly’s vacation. She books Everly on an Amazon explorer instead of a cruise ship.

Chapter 2
After being coerced into going on a vacation at very short notice and underprepared, Everly Daisy Lancaster finds it difficult to sleep due to pressure. Heidi Johnson, a new friend she made on the business class plane, notices her dilemma and offers her sleeping pills.
Everly who has never taken sleeping pills decides to accept them after a few considerations. She realizes she’s on a ten hours flight and would need to get some sleep to avoid being fatigued. She takes the pills from Heidi and downs it with a few glasses of wine. It doesn’t take long before she’s knocked out cold.
When Everly is woken up after the flight, she’s completely disoriented but manages to catch her next flight.
Chapter 4
Because Everly’s bedridden with malaria, Asher tasks himself to nurse her back to health. In the course of this process, Asher and Everly begin to bond.
They do not realize this when they first meet, but it is during their bonding period that they begin to realize that they have some things in common. The most pronounced one is how they were both single because they didn’t have much social life.
Asher who’s beginning to pick interest in Everly also notes that they have a huge difference that might hinder their relationship, which is his love for nature and wildlife, and Everly’s love for the hustle and bustle of the big city where he sadly doesn’t fit in.
On one of the days he nurses Everly, they both share intimate information about each other and he tells her about his first kiss.
