The faithful housewife, that’s what most men want and desire. They want a wife they can pin down, offer money to, and have their way with.

This was who Zoe was in the novel ‘I Refuse to Divorce!’. In fact, Zoe was the worst. She was Mason’s dirtbag. One he could use and discard as he pleases.

He gave her money and jewelry she couldn’t access without going through some irritating procedures. Zoe’s head became clear and freed of Mason when she lost her incoming joy.

She had endured enough; it was time she broke free from the man that doesn’t love her and doesn’t want to let her go.

Part 1: The Plot Behind The Novel I Refuse To Divorce!

The novel, ‘I Refuse to Divorce!’ has a plot filled with twists and unexpected events. It’s about Zoe and her reluctant husband, Mason.

Zoe was Mason’s housewife, or like he likes to put it, homemaker. She doesn’t have a job as her duties were tied to pleasing and satisfying Mason.

She had loved him for six years. His finely defined body was hard for her to ignore, and the fact that she loved him genuinely was a factor holding her back from divorcing him.

To please Mason, Zoe has to keep his house tidy at all times and hand wash his clothes, as he doesn’t like the laundry smell that comes with clothes washed by a laundry. All his meals are cooked fresh daily by her; otherwise, Mason would make the house hot for her.

At the end of the day, when he feels satisfied and tired, he would share his bed with her as his wife. That was the only moment in which he acknowledged her presence. She was never his wife but a tool he used. His treasured possessions were locked away from her.

Mason had some other woman, Lilith, whom he found interest in. He tends to please Lilith while Zoe was left in pain and unattended to. With time, Zoe could no longer bear the pain her loveless marriage inflicts on her.

When she lost her pregnancy, she knew that was the height of her pains. Better to end her marriage before it destroys her completely.

Zoe asked for a divorce.

In ‘I Refuse to Divorce!’ Mason found it funny that Zoe could ask for such a thing. He thought she was throwing her normal tantrums, but when she persisted, he knew she had stopped loving him.

Zoe divorced Mason and fled the country. Their three years of marriage had ruined her, but she had plans to come back stronger.

Two years later, she returned as a changed woman. She was wealthy and had eyes hovering around her. The once unwanted wife of Mason became who he so wanted.

At that moment, Mason was late, as another man, Cecil, already had a spot in Zoe’s heart.

Part 2: Why is Divorce so Painful in ‘I Refuse To Divorce!’?

I Refuse To Divorce Zoe in pain

Divorce is a painful process. This is because it involves putting an end to a relationship you’ve built and nurtured for years. You’ve loved and fallen out of love with someone you vowed to love and be with forever.

Most partners during divorce feel no pain. Their marriage wasn’t based on love or anything worthy from the onset; that’s why they could throw it away and still feel nothing.

In ‘I Refuse to Divorce!’, Zoe’s decision to divorce Mason came from a place of hurt. She loved him for years. Never has she thought that she would be the one to initiate their divorce.

When she took that bold step, she knew it had to be. She had trapped herself in a loveless marriage with a man who only sees her as his homemaker and nothing more. She had hoped to win Mason’s heart, but that never happened.

After initiating the divorce, Mason was reluctant when it came to acknowledging Zoe’s decision. He felt she wanted his attention, and he would give it to her for the meantime. He enjoyed watching Zoe be his obedient clown.

I got excited when Zoe finally made that divorce move. She got freed from her unworthy husband, grew herself, and became who she was meant to be. Zoe did all these while ignoring Lilith, the girl that continuously stole her husband’s attention.

Part 3: Main Characters in I Refuse to Divorce!

Zoe Sanders

I Refuse To Divorce Zoe

Zoe Sanders is a beautiful woman. She has lovely dark hair and soft skin that are way too smooth and beautiful. Her curves are perfect for her body. That’s one of the attractions that got Mason pinned to her.

She has a scattered background, though, in the novel ‘I Refuse to Divorce!’. Her father was in the hospital. It seems as if his life was short. Her brother was locked up after being accused of a crime. And her stepmom, Mia, was in just for the money Zoe got from Mason.

Zoe divorced Mason when she lost her pregnancy. She wanted to be a mother and love her child, but Mason failed her.

Mason

I Refuse To Divorce Mason

Mason is that hot man most girls would faint over. He has defined muscles and a sturdy chest. He’s tall and sensual. His features are part of what made Zoe so attracted to him.

In this novel, he doesn’t know what he wants. He’s confused about whom he likes between Lilith and Zoe.

However, when Zoe divorced and left him, he realized she left with his heart.

Lilith

I Refuse To Divorce Lilith

Lilith is a young and attractive woman. She enjoyed her moments with Mason. She knew he was married, but she didn’t care about snatching him away.

When Zoe left Mason, Lilith saw a chance to claim him, but he ignored her feelings.

Cecil

I Refuse To Divorce Cecil

Cecil was Zoe’s doctor and friend. He knew of her ill relationship with Mason. He couldn’t help her, nor could he confess his love for her.

He had known Zoe longer than she thought and had loved her way before she met Mason. The one thing he wished to get from Zoe was a space in her life and heart.

Part 4: Final Thought and Ending Prediction of I Refuse to Divorce!

What do you think might be the ending of the novel ‘I Refuse to Divorce!’? For me, Zoe’s decision to divorce and flee to some other country was nice.

According to the novel, after two years, she came back bolder, smarter, wealthier, and more prepared to rule her life. Her husband, Mason, was all over her. He told her that he never agreed to her divorce and never planned to.

So, I think Zoe might flaunt her wealth a bit on the faces of those that thought she would remain a housewife forever. She would solidify her divorce with Mason after much resistance from him.

With her divorce finalized, Zoe would welcome Cecil into her heart. He might be the better man for her. With this, Cecil would reveal to Zoe their childhood she had forgotten.

‘I Refuse to Divorce!’ would turn out to be a great read with Zoe getting the love, peace, and money she deserves.
