I Quit Being The Villain follows a story about a villain Emperor of Luck named Gu Xia, who has been defeated mercilessly by the protagonist of the series. Furthermore, the villain system also gives Gu Xia an F- overall rank, which is the lowest rank and forces Gu Xia to restart the system instead of quitting it and having the normal life that he desires.

Just as Gu Xia yelled, “I Quit Being The Villain!” in his mind, he doesn’t know that all heroines are listening to his inner voice screams. The extremely-beautiful Shu Ling is the first heroine who hears such inner voice screams with the help of the bodyguards. Then, as the novel’s stories progress, we also get to know other heroines.

“If you get offended easily, this is not your kind of novel!” That’s the warning from the author of I Quit Being The Villain novel. So, when we read the stories, we can expect more than foul language and lots of emotionally-triggering scenes.

Another interesting thing that we can get from reading the I Quit Being The Villain novel is that Gu Xia, the main male character, won’t have harem squads despite this novel having many attractive female characters.

Part 1: The Author Of I Quit Being The Villain

I Quit Being The Villain by Kurupts

Kurupt’s is the pen name of the author of I Quit Being The Villain novel. When I read the author’s bio, I know that the author of I Quit Being The Villain is a male, and the gender is getting even clearer in the ways Kurupts describe the female characters’ physical characteristics in the novels that he creates.

Speaking of the novels, I Quit Being The Villain is one of the novels that Kurupts wrote. Other novels also include vivid physical imagery of the female characters. Some novels that Kurupt has written also include dark-themed elements. Then, again, being the villain of the I Quit Being The Villain, Gu Xia also has some dark elements attached to him.

From my observations, I would say that Kurupt is one of the never-give-up authors. He has histories of his novels being taken down by the platform – however, such things don’t stop him to create and update his other novels. I Quit Being The Villain is one of Kurupts’ successfully-published novels, with more than 15k readers pinning it in their reading lists.

Until now, Kurupt’s makes sure to always update the novel. Hence, I also think that he’s one of the most diligent and productive authors. I won’t be surprised if I Quit Being The Villain becomes a completed novel in the future, just like Kurupts’ other completed novel on the platform.

I Quit Being The Villain Chapter 2

With the title of “Avoiding The Plot!”, Chapter 2 of I Quit Being The Villain becomes one of the most representative chapters of the novel’s title. Furthermore, it doesn’t only tell us about Gu Xia’s struggles of quitting the villain systems and getting back to help his family runs the entertainment business.

It is also in Chapter 2 of I Quit Being The Villain that we get to know Gu Xia’s family. His father’s name is Gu Luo, his mother’s name is Gu Lin, and both of them refer to him as the “Little Xia”. As for Gu Xia himself, he has lots of luxury cars like Bugatti Chiron that aid him in his missions in future.

Just as Gu Xia is desperate to quit as the story’s villain, Shu Ling is also desperate in quitting her fate as the heroine. However, Gu Lin, Gu Xia’s mother, doesn’t agree with her son rekindling his relationship with Shu Ling. Those messages are the themes that I see surrounding me throughout Chapter 14 of I Quit Being The Villain.

The title of Chapter 14 of I Quit Being The Villain itself is, “Shu Ling’s Act,” and we see here that Shu Ling is so desperate that she thinks only by rekindling with Gu Xia that she can escape her heroine destiny. Too bad, Gu Xia only sees her with disgusted looks and tells her straight away that he’s no longer interested in her.

I Quit Being The Villain Chapter 21

I Quit Being The Villain Chapter 21

True to the chapter’s title, Chapter 21 of I Quit Being The Villain introduces to us a new character in the novel. Her name is Li Min, and she is the underground queen. She obtains this status illegally, and she has multiple connections with several high-seating politicians. Li Min is also the woman who controls 75% of all bars, nightclubs, and strip clubs in Zhou Capital.

She obtains information about Gu Xia from her people. As a person who is a highly-skilled combatant, Li Min is more than interested to fight Gu Xia. I guess, starting from this chapter, Gu Xia would be ready for the fights and forget the engagement that he doesn’t want.

Part 3: Alternative To I Quit Being The Villain

Similar to I Quit Being The Villain

I Quit Being The Villain shows consistent second-chance scenes from the villain systems throughout the chapters. It encourages Gu Xia, the main male character, not to give up on his villain role.

Speaking of second-chance novels, we can read plenty of them on the Dreame platform. One of the second-chance novels on Dreame that I would recommend as an alternative to I Quit Being The Villain is Beta’s Second Chance (Book 2 of the Mate Series).

Beta’s Second Chance on the Dreame platform is slightly different from I Quit Being The Villain in ways that the main character is a female and the novel’s genre is a werewolf romantic genre.

However, the story themes are almost identical: The main character in I Quit Being The Villain is bored of living his life as a villain and wants to live as a normal person, while the main character in Beta’s Second Chance wishes to enjoy the normalcies of lives even though she knows that she is tired of her so-called mate who loves her wolf more than herself.

Summary of Beta’s Second Chance (Book 2 of Mate Series):

Alternative to I Quit Being The Villain

True to the full title’s name, Beta’s Second Chance belongs to the second sequel of the Mate Series. Beta’s Second Chance on Dreame follows a story about a she-wolf named Maya, who is in love with her mate, Vince. Maya becomes a rogue after the death of her parents. Fortunately, she can still access her wolf, whose name turns out to be Loreal a.k.a Lo.

Unfortunately, Vince loves Loreal and not Maya. Worse, he gives that “I don’t care” look when Maya’s female friend, Roe, confronts him with the truth. At least, that’s what Maya understands when I read some beginning chapters of the novel. So, these entire things make Maya so desperate to leave the scene and just live a normal life.

Just as Maya goes desperate of leaving the scenes, something happens with the relationship dynamics. For me, the author seems to want to clarify that Vince loves both Maya and Loreal and that Maya and Loreal are inseparable. Here’s where I think the story portions are similar to the one, I read, in I Quit Being The Villain.
