The friendship which had started off as ordinary had managed to grow to the extent that Eugene couldn’t do without Melanie. They got into an entanglement which the innocent Melanie thought was love. She was willing to do anything for Eugene and the growth of LeapCo. She saw the company as their baby which must be cared for.
It wasn’t long before everyone that mattered in the society came to know about their relationship. In fact, the whole family, both Melanie’s and Eugene’s knew Melanie was Eugene’s woman and everyone expected him to marry her.
They were that good together. But problems began to arise. Not that she didn’t see the signs as during their days in college Eugene had always been sleeping around with anything in skirt. It wasn’t so much of a problem then, since he always returned to her and he just couldn’t do without her.
But now when all her world had been built around him and his company, Eugene began to make his promiscuity a public affair. The wealth and power had gotten into his head. Nobody could do anything that was worthwhile without wanting the favours of Eugene.
Melanie also noticed that Eugene’s friends didn’t regard her. They treated her like nothing at every chance. How wouldn’t they? When Eugene was always with other women and voicing his distaste of Melanie to every listening ear?
