Rachel Hudson was brought from the remote mountains to get married to Justin Burton, a man that was believed to be ugly with scars, and ugly at heart as well. The original person slated to get married to Justin Burton was Rachel’s sister, Amber Hudson, but Amber, the spoilt young daughter of Mr. Hudson refused the offer, suggesting that Rachel, who was no good in the first place, took her stead.
Alas, Rachel Hudson was transferred from her lowly mountain place of abode to the city where she would get married to Justin. According to My Mute Bride Novel, Rachel did not just accept the offer as soon as her father brought it to her notice. She revolted, but she was threatened that if she did not accept the offer, her grandmother who was receiving treatment at the hospital would be abandoned deliberately.
The Hudson family suffered a severe financial set back, so they were desperate for some money and due to some deep connections, they were able to get the wealthy and influential Burton family to be interested in helping out, but that would come with a price. The Burton family selected Amber Hudson, but Amber was deliberately substituted with Rachel, and the Burton family accepted it for reasons best known to them.

Part 1: Main Characters Of My Mute Bride
Rachel Hudson
Rachel Hudson is the female lead of My Mute Bride. She was the mute bride who was a substitute for her sister, Amber Hudson. Rachel Hudson was an illegitimate daughter of Mr. Hudson who was forced to get married to a man that every female would rather not get close to for reasons that were rampant. Rachel lived away from her father who threatened her that if she did not return to his home to be handed over to her husband, he would live her sick grandmother to suffer to death.
Rachel Hudson, being an illegitimate daughter, didn’t grow up with her father, so she was naturally not interested in his offer but when she heard the consequences of her action if she refused to return to get married. She had lived with her grandmother for long enough to develop a close bond with her, and she could not afford to see the woman suffer to death, so she accepted to be the wife to any man her father wanted.
Justin Burton
Justin Burton is the male lead of the novel, My Mute Bride. He was without a wife and was interested in one, especially from the Hudson family for reasons he knew best. He was a stoic young man whom nobody dared to mess with, and he often teased his mute bride whenever he had the chance to. He was a sinister man that made everyone around him cower into hiding. In the novel, he had a powerful aura and character.

Chapter 150
Rachel had gotten acquainted with her status as Mrs. Burton at this time according to My Mute Bride Novel. She was indisposed and was being taken care of in Justin’s house. Justin was absent for one reason or the other. He had been absent for three days but trust Rachel to be well taken care of as far as the Burton’s were concerned.
In this chapter of the novel, intense emotions lingered in Justin Burton’s family. Justin, the uptight and cruel man had been having episodes with Rachel, which she claimed that caused her grandmother to die. Rachel blamed Justin for her grandmother’s death. That was the same grandmother that Rachel had accepted getting married to Justin for, now the same man she married had according to her, been the cause of her grandmother’s death.
Frankie, Justin’s personal assistant told Rachel that the reason her husband had not been returning home was because he did not want his presence to upset Rachel. In My Mute Bride Novel, Frankie revealed that although Justin Burton was a difficult man, he indeed loved Rachel dearly. Of course, Rachel was not moved by such words. She was determined that Justin was a stern man who could not change for anything nor anyone.
Rachel claimed that Justing was not caring for her at all, and in fact, he was just possessive.
“I’m just a toy to him that he bought from Jeffery. Even though Justin doesn’t like me, he would not let anyone have me since he has purchased me, and I belong to him forever.”
Chapter 221
Rachel had become a city girl by this time and attended a night club. In the night club, she happened to have been drugged. Rachel didn’t understand how that would have happened, given that the drink was opened and served right in front of her. According to My Mute Bride Novel, she was resisting a predator approaching her, but the man called Mr. Wayne asked her not to bother that there was no way she would overpower him.
“You’ll die a dog’s death.”
Rachel had been taken over by whatever drug had been put in her drink, and as powerless as she was, she was being dragged to the bed where Mr. Wayne started to take off his clothes, and then hers as well. Just when he was about to start his nasty act on Rachel’s body, help came and Mr. Wayne was being forcefully pulled away from on top of Rachel by none other than her husband, Justin Burton.

Part 3: All About My Mute Bride
Rachel Hudson was a lowly girl living a lowly life with her grandmother until her father, Jeffery Hudson introduced change into her life. Jeffery Hudson wanted his illegitimate daughter, Rachel, to get married by force because of financial challenges. Rachel was mute, meaning she could not speak. She had to accept the offer because unlike her father whom she had not seen for a long period of time, nearly since she was born, she had lived with her grandmother.
Rachel was picked and taken to Justin Burton’s house. The man acted lewd towards her. First of all, he was well aware that she was a substitute, she was not Amber Hudson. So, feeling cheated I suppose, Justin did something fishy to Jeffery Burton as well. According to My Mute Bride Novel, Jeffery found out that the money that had been supposedly sent to him by Burton had disappeared from his account. Jeffery Hudson was furious, but owing to the fact that he was also guilty of swapping his daughters, he could not confront Burton directly. What did Jeffery do then?
Jeffery called his mute daughter and wife of Justin Bruton to look for the contract that was signed between him and Burton, take a picture of it and send it to him. What Jeffery did not know was that Justing Burton had tapped Rachel’s phone so when Jeffery gave her the assignment, Justin heard about it. Prepared for the worst, Justin Burton set up a trap with which he caught Amber doing her dirty dealings with.
A plot worthy of note is the fact that Justin’s aunty, Sue, lived with him. Sue hated Rachel, especially the fact that she was mute, Sue hated it with all her heart. She made Rachel do menial jobs. As the wife of Justin Burton, Rachel ought not move a limb for chores, but according to My Mute Bride Novel, Rachel could be found cleaning and scrubbing the house. Justin eventually found out about that and stopped it, but it is worthy of note that Sue was a villain, and guess what? Amber Hudson, the originally proposed lady to Justin, liked Sue’s son compared to Justin.
Part 4: Conclusion
I like the characters in the book. I like Rachel’s character, she was mute, but she was not a dummy in the sense that at a point she knew to put up a fight. I refer to her as someone who had built a lot of emotional intelligence given that she could not speak. She could not express her feelings orally, so there were other ways she did that. Moreover, the book, My Mute Bride is a successful one because it carries the plot alongside its characters correctly.
