There’s nothing sweeter than knowing your childhood best friend has been secretly admiring you for years, and patiently waiting for the chance to come up.
What’s more surprising is that they’re the mastermind behind your unexpected success, your mysterious lucks, and the particular major events that spiced up your life. Would you be touched, or would it leave some distaste in your mouth?
In Love is Sweet, every question that often surrounds the idea of love developed early in childhood had been explored with deliberate care. It went successful in portraying the endearing sweetness of a secret admiration and its destructive abilities when left unaddressed and unnoticed.
It’s the romance book that everyone needs and must read. You might think those are pretty big words, to begin with but it’s not even describe its full potential.
Because beneath the sizzling romance of the principal characters, several controversial topics are also discussed throughout the entire story.
Examples worth mentioning are the dark side of a seemingly perfect family, the nasty operations happening behind closed doors of famous companies, and the sick effects of manipulation and possessive love. Within only sixty chapters, you can enjoy witnessing those happening inside one universe.
That being said, let’s dive into the two most important parts of Love is Sweet that made it exceptionally good and remarkable. I swear, once you read its first page, you’d never think of putting it down. Finding it hard to believe? Read more to be convinced.

Part 1: Characters of Love Is Sweet
Jiang Jun (Juno)
Starting by the main female lead, Jiang Jun or currently known by her closest peers as ‘Juno’ is the lead player in the game as the current top investment banker of a well-known company. Note that she’s not your typical heroine who reeks of kindness, purity, and moral principles. She’s resilient, tough, and knew perfectly well what she’s doing.
She has a thing for cigarettes, just as she likes to burn her boss using the flames of her intelligence. Her personality wasn’t actually like that from the start. She was rather a sweet and adorable child.
But her family’s strictness and high expectations molded her to behave like a forceful warrior always ready for battle. Because of that, she had learned how to act tough and summon her to alter ego whenever there was a need to. Only Yuan Shuai can see through the pretend, and only he can destroy that armor.
Yuan Shuai (Zeus)
A puppet. That’s all I could describe Yuan Shuai is the acting male lead. He clearly has no gripping control over himself because he concedes everything to what Jiang Jun wants and needs. Pretty ironic for the nicknamed ‘ice man’, isn’t it? Well, every single human has their own weakness.
And Jiang Jun is his. She owns him, literally. And when I say literally, it’s not just about the stupid decisions he made in order to glorify Jiang Jun. Every part of that makes up Yuan Shuai considers Jiang-Jun as their master, always screaming for her name and always seeking her approval. He’s a slave hiding in the false pretense of a hero.
It’s not hard to see why he’s so head over heels for the adorable banker. Ever since they were little, he always felt the urge to protect her and shelter her from any suffering. At first, he thought it was just the effect of brotherly love but as time passes, he realized it was more than that and much deeper than kinship.
Since then, he did everything to make her solely his someday.
Yin Zhe (Jan)
If Yuan Shuai is Jiang-Jun’s brutal knight-in-shining-armor, Yin Zhe (Juno’s ex) has everything it takes to be a dazzling prince. Compassionate, kind-hearted, and virtuous, he has everything a girl could ask for. They a literal boyfriend material. And Jiang-Jun had been brilliant enough to spot all of those.
She pursued him, and Yin Zhe would be a hypocrite if he doesn’t admit he liked the chase. Unfortunately, the very same exceptional qualities that Jiang-Jun had grown to love were also the reason for her downfall.
Yin Zhe had played too much of a hero, without thinking that some of his noble principles can be manipulated. As a result of his blindness, he lost Jiang-Jun forever.
Qiao Na (Joan)
Of course, the lineup of the characters wouldn’t be complete without the irksome villain. Qiao Na is the witch that would certainly make you scream in frustration. I gotta say, this character was very successful to make me fume in silence.
Really hated this one, more than I hated finishing the story. She’s manipulative, greedy, and immature. She wants everything to revolve around her. And she made it her career to pester Jiang-Jun, ruining her peace every chance she could get.
Part 2: Hot Chapters from Love Is Sweet
Chapter 4
Here, the nature of their relationship was revealed when Yuan Shuai showed the telltale signs of jealousy after seeing his precious Jiang Jun get hugged by her boss. Enraged at the sight, he ran away and was eventually chased off by Jiang Jun.
Their monumental feud resulted in passionate lovemaking! (What a surprising way to comfort your friend, huh?) As they gather both of themselves from that mistake, we get to see some hints about what Yuan Shuai did for Jiang Jun in the past.
It wasn’t certainly pleasant because his tone was ominous, and he was sure Jiang-Jun would leave him if she ever find out about it. Hmm, what could possibly that be?
From then on, things started to get extra intriguing.
Chapter 13
After a roundabout of chasing and unvoiced jealousy, Jiang-Jun, and Yun Shuai end up marrying inconvenience. It was only a temporary deal, and yet the two seemed to be taking their marriage seriously. Gone with the quirky banters, only lovemaking at every chance they could seize.
All is going well. Until Jiang-Jun’s boss announced who’s the new employee under her wing. You guessed it right. It’s her Yin Zhe! Her very own ex-boyfriend!
Chapter 25
Jiang Jun professed that she wants to resign. Not because her ex and the woman she despised are back in town, but because the idea of spending more time with Yuan Shuai won over her will. When she broke the news to her boss, she was taken aback that he took it wholeheartedly.
He has no opposition, and he seemed to be willing to cooperate with what she wants, very unlikely of what she knew of him. But what surprised her most is the warning he issued at the end of their meeting about how she hasn’t yet known the true Yuan Shuai and that she must not give him all of her trust. It’s odd because Yin Zhe—her brother—also said the very same thing. What could this mean? Is Yuan Shuai not really what she thinks he is?
Part 3: Evaluation And Why You Must Read Love Is Sweet
First off, Love is Sweet has two English translated versions. One is raw and unedited, while the other is advanced which has been through under the thumb of several editors. If both seem appealing, and you want to give each a try, it’s perfectly fine. There’s no major difference that ruined the entire plot, thank God.
But if you wish to have a healthy and easy read, opt for the edited one because the raw version will certainly make you gouge your eyes out. Don’t ask why, you know exactly what that means.
Putting technicalities down, neither of which versions had become disappointing. In terms of its components, nothing came out as off-putting. From the major plot, down to the lively characters, everything is worth praising. It’s definitely a highly recommended book!
If that seems interesting, here’s another masterpiece that you can enjoy freely. It’s available on Dreame and has already enchanted thousands of readers. Be one of them, and join the majestic journey of this suspenseful romance!
