However, Larisa is one of the quickest-minded characters, as she protects herself against Marcellus by framing her concerns with a “what-if” question instead of lashing out against him or Clara, his eternal love.
Marcellus Huxley
Being born from someone who rules over a massive corporation like Huxley Corporation means Marcellus Huxley HER CEO EX HUSBAND has to bear huge responsibilities since childhood. Since then, Marcellus has been familiar with the term of “consequences”. He loves Clara; yet, his father will only let him marry Larisa.
HER CEO EX HUSBAND novel shows Marcellus’ decision to marry Larisa because he fears his father would disown him if he married other girls than her. It results in his bitterness towards Larisa, which manifests through his constant cold-hearted demeanor toward her and his unwillingness to sleep with her unless he fantasizes about Clara.
Clara Scott
Clara Scott’s status as Marcellus Huxley’s true love in HER CEO EX HUSBAND makes her the one marrying Marcellus instead of Larisa. At least, that’s how Marcellus would like things to go according to his perspectives. Marcellus’ marriage with Larisa makes Clara automatically become the other woman in their marriage.
Like any other mistress characters, Clara loves to mutter hurtful words to Larisa, while emphasizing how Marcellus loves her more than Larisa, and that Marcellus only uses Larisa as a substitute when he misses Clara. In the end, her mask falls, and only a few characters know her true nature.
Part 3: An Analysis Of HER CEO EX HUSBAND Novel
Pregnancy is the highlight element I find in HER CEO EX HUSBAND. I may also sense another theme in this novel, which is the arranged marriage. However, the pregnant moments and how each character deals with the word “pregnant” intensify the unique parts presented in this novel.
Larisa Madison of HER CEO EX HUSBAND comes first as the least-loved woman in Marcellus Huxley’s eyes. So, her pregnancy is the least desired thing for Marcellus. Consequently, it’s normal for Marcellus to force her to abort the child, if she didn’t want a divorce. When I read this part of HER CEO EX HUSBAND, I get a sense that Marcellus imposes his two non-choices in his highly traumatic childhood on Larisa.
Marcellus’ stories bring out the most traumas in HER CEO EX HUSBAND. He has been fed up with his oppressive father since his childhood. After all, his father traumatized him by threatening to disown him if he didn’t obey. Now that Marcellus has reached his adulthood and taken over the CEO position, he gets traumatized by the word “pregnancy”.
Larisa’s sudden breaking pregnancy news already makes Marcellus startled. It doesn’t matter if Marcellus was in love with Clara and finally met her up in her apartment. Seeing Clara’s struggles in eating brings back the “pregnant” word in Marcellus’ mind, which leads him to ask if Clara is pregnant.
So, based on my observations of HER CEO EX HUSBAND, Marcellus might always be cold to Larisa. However, fatherhood is crucial for him, and I can see it in his reactions to the word “pregnant”.
Part 4: Read A Novel Similar To HER CEO EX HUSBAND
The CEO’s exes always have interesting stories to tell about. After all, their presence proves to the readers that marrying CEOs is not always easy and dreamy. For example, in HER CEO EX HUSBAND, I can imagine Larisa’s early bubbles of imagination burst in wildly spread directions when she undergoes two years of an unhappy marriage with Marcellus Huxley.
The question that remains in my head as I read HER CEO EX HUSBAND is, “Can we find a similar novel?” Then, “yes” is the answer, considering that such a theme has been a trending topic in the romance novel worlds. One of the alternative novels I can recommend to you is The CEO’s Ex-Wife.
Matthew Roberts, the brilliant, charming, and possessive CEO in The CEO’s Ex-Wife, is similar to Marcellus Huxley of HER CEO EX HUSBAND, in ways that he controls the family’s assets. Meanwhile, we can see the fate that Marcellus tries hard to avoid, which is to be estranged from his family, through Ayla Roberts, the female MC of The CEO’s Ex-Wife.
Ayla Roberts is a hard-working woman who has made her way to wealth since her college graduation, only to have whatever she does get isolated by her ex-husband. It results in running away and embracing another equally broken man. Alas, Matthew never seems to let her go.
