I personally read it over a year ago and I really want to recommend this to the bookworms out there who wanted to read a unique story with a light and hearty feel.
Basically, it was all about a story of a peasant girl who lived a new life in a different dimension in the ancient era. At first, I thought that this novel would be kind of boring, but I was wrong. It was something magical and surreal that I was not able to hold back.
This novel got me hooked in a way that my heart was struck. Being a family-oriented person who loves getting along with my friends and relatives, I could not help to appreciate the bond that the characters had with the main protagonist.
Even though it took place in a far-flung Chinese community which was called Dongshan Village, I still felt the freshness of the scenes that I could easily relate to.

Part 1: Whimsical Characters and Highlights of Fields of Gold
Lin Xiaowan is the female lead in the book, Fields Of Gold. She is a twenty-nine-year-old lady who transmigrated into a young girl’s body living in a fisherman’s village. It all happened when she woke up in a daze finding herself in a very strange situation.
Lin Xiaowan could not understand what was happening. All she remembered was the time when she attended the wedding of her younger brother who worked for the military. Her heart was so happy as she witnessed her siblings having their own families. During the celebration, she did not notice how drunk she was until she fell down the stairs and lost consciousness.
As soon as she was awakened, she suddenly realized that something went wrong. There were people around who were worried about her. However, she had no idea who are they. She even had no clue what type of person is the owner of that body.
The doctor thought that she had a mental illness or amnesia. Lin Xiaowan was called Yu Xiaocao, for it was the real name of the peasant girl.
The people living in the village were all sad about what happened. A lot of misfortunes came to their family and now the girl had lost her memories. Knowing that Madam Zhang, the mother of her father took all their money made them empty-handed.
Yu Xiaocao fell into a deep slumber because of the weakness that was running through her veins. In her sleep, there was complete darkness but the next moment, she saw a glowing orb called Divine Stone.
There was a certain invigorating energy that made her flourish all of a sudden. The wounds that made her suffer were already gone which truly took her by surprise. It was powerful, nothing but a magical force.

In the succeeding chapters of Field Of Gold, Yu Xiaocao was awakened by touching her forehead and clearly, the injury was gone. As she was checking herself under the blanket and saw a red stringed bracelet with a marble-like stone that she got from the stream during her vacation nearby the Potala Palace.
However, that ornament was already thrown away when she was still Lin Xiaowan. It caused her confusion, wondering why it came back and reincarnate with her. Her mind was full of questions. But Liu Muyun, her mother immediately checked up on her and was so worried because of sleeping for exactly three days in a row.
From there, she felt a different kind of maternal love and care which she never received from her mother in her past life before. There was something special about the way she was treated, and she could not deny how nurturing it was.
Later on, in the next captivating chapters of Fields Of Gold, the glowing orb appeared again right in front of Yu Xiaocao. At first, she wanted to get rid of it, but the magical entity talked to her. It was stated that she could no longer say no to possessing such powers.
She turned out to be the master of the orb which eventually became a kitten with golden fur. With that, she could no longer be wounded nor be weak just like before.
Time passed and she discovered a lot of incredible things which the multicolored stone could offer. Their previous scarce life improved. She was helped by the orb in cultivating the crops and earned a bountiful harvest. And knowing that she was a good cook in her previous life, she still possessed it throughout her stay in the old fisher’s village.

Overall, it was indeed a long yet satisfying read for me. It might be dramatic but not too soapy. I was really glad that I was able to finish that 734 chapters. There were also lessons that I got by reading this gem, Fields Of Gold. Family is indeed an essential part of every individual’s personal growth, whether it might be in a career or on a daily life basis. If you know that there were people behind you with undying support, you will surely hit success.
