For what it’s worth, Underworld 2003 is no ordinary movie. It tells the tale of a secret battle between Werewolves (or as they’re called here, Lycans) and Vampires.
The action-horror film introduces Selene, a Death Dealer. It also features the secret history of the two immortal species. The main plot of Underworld 2003 revolves around Selene who has dedicated herself to the killing Lycan species.
She then finds herself attracted to a human named Michael Corvin. Michael was targeted by the Lycans and eventually got bitten by one of them. Selene must then decide whether to kill or save him.
Underworld 2003 apparently got its title as an homage to the secret societies of vampires and werewolves.
Part 1. Main Plot of Underworld 2003
Two black-donned Vampires known as Death Dealers follow Lycans on the street below. The Vampires, Selene and Rigel, are set to kill the ancient species.
However, Selene’s motivation goes beyond her duty. She also wants vengeance because she believes that Lycans killed her family when she was a kid.
The Vampires also believe that they defeated the Lycans centuries ago and killed their leader, Lucian. Now, they must kill any survivors.
As Selene and her companion follow the Lycans into a subway station, the Werewolves realize that they are followed. As a result, they open fire with submachine guns. During the shootout, Selene sees that the Werewolves have been following a human named Michael Corvin.
Soon after, Selene breaks into Michael’s apartment. They are then attacked by Lycans including Lucian. Lucian then bites Micheal’s shoulder. Selene saves Michael by helping him escape. In turn, Michael saves Selene after she passes out from blood loss.
After a series of events, Selene comes to Michael. However, a shootout distracts her, letting the Lycans kidnap Michael. Selene then captures Singe and tortures him for information. She takes him back to her coven. Singe then admits that the Lycans have been trying to create a powerful Hybrid.
Part 2. Main Characters and Their Relations in the Underworld 2003

Selene
Selene, played by Kate Beckinsale in Underworld 2003, was born to a Hungarian family in t1383. Her father was a famous architect who designed a fortress for the Vampire general, Viktor. Selene then became a Death Dealer with a thirst for vengeance. Later on, she becomes Michael’s lover.
Michael Corvin
Michael Corvin, played by Scott Speedman, is the Corvinus Clan’s modern-day descendant. He studied to become a surgeon who was bit by Lucian during a shootout. Michael then becomes the first Lycan-Vampire Hybrid after Lucian and Selene (who eventually becomes his lover) bite him.
Lucian
Lucian, played by Michael Sheen, was a Lycan antagonist in Underworld 2003. He is the forefather of the Lycans. The Underworld Werewolf is also the leader of the Lycan resistance since Viktor’s enslavement. On top of that, Lucian was the lover of the Vampire Sonja, Viktor’s daughter.
Viktor
Viktor, played by Bill Nighy, is a Vampire Elder and the main antagonist in Underworld 2003. He was initially a human Hungarian general born in the 5th century. As Viktor was about to die, Marcus Corvinus, the first Vampire, came to his deathbed. He offered him immortality in exchange for Viktor’s military knowledge and army to fight the Lycans.
Part 3. Conspiracies and Dark Secrets Revealed in Underworld 2003

Conspiracy Between Kraven and Lucian
Selene, like all other Vampires, believes that Kraven killed Lucian and burned his home to the ground. However, Kraven slipped his tongue while speaking to Selene. In particular, Heaven referred to Lucian in the present tense, even if the Lycan was dead 600 years prior. This aroused suspicion in Selene’s mind.
Eventually, Kraven and his personal guards, led by Soren, are sent to pick up Amelia, a Vampire Elder. They are assigned to escort Amelia back to the mansion.
Unbeknownst to Viktor or anybody else, Kraven tips the Lycans about Amelia’s whereabouts. He then commands his men to stop protecting Amelia and the Council. As the Vampires are attacked, it’s revealed that Kraven is a secret ally of Lucian.
By the time the other Death Dealers realize something is wrong, Amelia dies. It is then revealed that Kraven plans to kill Marcus and Viktor next.
Viktor Kills Her Daughter and Blames It on Lucian
At some point in Underworld full movie 2003, Sonja meets Lucian. She then falls deeply in love with the Lycan slave and Underworld Werewolf. Lucian also falls in love with her and the two start a secret affair.
The couple then secretly wed each other and spend time together. However, things take a turn when Sonja discovers that she is pregnant. Because of this, Lucian and her cannot continue to hide their affair. So, they devised a plan to escape.
Unfortunately, before Sonja and Lucian are able to escape, Viktor discovers their affair. He sees the secret passageway the couple has been using to secretly meet. Lucian and Sonja are then captured.
Once Lucian’s torture is done, the Council members and Viktor leave the room. Sonja is then exposed to sunlight through a hole in the roof, burning her alive.
Given these events, Viktor blames Lucian for turning his daughter against him. As result, Viktor continues hunting Viktor centuries later.
Vampire and Werewolf Share the Same Ancestor

For one, Vampires can drink human blood and relive their memories. Vampires and Lycans also share a common ancestor by blood mutation.
Moreover, Vampire like Selene with a direct bloodline can get extra powers. Plus, the Lycans believe that Eve’s blood will make them extremely powerful for reasons they didn’t reveal. But they surely hype Eve a lot.
Part 4. Underworld 2003 Summary
Selene, a vampire warrior, gets caught in a battle between Lycans and Vampires. She gets caught up in the immortal war as she falls in love with Michael, a human followed by werewolves for initially unknown reasons.
Underworld 2003 introduces Selene, a Death Dealer who wants revenge, and Michael Corvin, a human who gets transformed between the immortal war. The film was followed by Underworld: Evolution, where Selene and Michae get hunted by dangerous enemies.
