Best Vampire Fantasy Romance Review: One Foot in the Grave

A love story tinged with a buttload of heartache and disaster. Yes, there is something delightfully enticing about a romance that doesn’t end with a happily ever after. However, this is only fun for us readers who are ready to delve into the harsh and enlightening journey of our favorite characters. Quite unfortunate for the character though.

But, here we are with Catherine’s story. What can we say about a girl with a hard life of being faced with near-death situations, losing her lover to the inevitability of their circumstance, because of all this and everything in between, she retains a pessimistic view of love.

How will Catherine deal with her love life and battle evil vampires at the same time? We have to find out as soon as possible.

Sometimes what we need is a good vampire action and romance story to chase the stress away. something to keep one mesmerized and forgetting to turn off the washing machine. Well, If you want to seat on it too, no problem *naughty.*

Another gripping factor of this book is how badass the female protagonist can get. Although, her sentimentality is one for the ages *you’ll get that joke after a few chapters.*

Part 1: Plot Summary of One Foot in the Grave

One Foot In The Grave Novel

Catherine Crawfield is quietly passing her days as a half-vampire. Well, as quietly as she can while fighting the scum of her species as an officer of a top-secret department of homeland Security. Yes, I think this is really major, too. Along these lines, Catherine is sent a message. This is not your typical text or maybe a written letter. No, we’re talking a cut-up corpse or two, strewn about your living room floor. That kind of message.

So Catherine, holding tight to her suspicions, goes to investigate. However, what she finds is a group of vampires wanting to collect their bounty. Catherine loses a dear friend and comrade in the midst of things and it lights her fire. All along Catherine has been careful to conceal her identity.

The world thinks Catherine Crawfield is dead. So, who is the mystery person trying to dig up her undead self? Is it her old and unmatched lover, Bones? Who else could it be? And suddenly, he shows up, back in her life once again.

Catherine contemplates how dead their prospects are and then there’s Noah and even Tate. Yes, romantic love blooms in unexpected places. But to Catherine, maybe this one’s a little too unexpected.

Part 2: Main Characters of One Foot in the Grave

Catherine Crawfield

One Foot In The Grave: Catherine Crawfield

A bold woman, full of strength, and I don’t necessarily mean her vampiric strength. Catherine has gone through so much and come out even better than she was before.

With her abilities, Catherine fights for those who are weaker, those who have no way of defending themselves. Catherine’s mission is to fight those of her species who prey on humans and kill them for sport or without proper justification.

Catherine’s life does not only revolve around supernatural battles filled with flying heads and vampire’s guts. She struggles to find something more to life. Does she need a little romance? Yes, she does. Does she need to stay away from toxic ex-boyfriends? Again, we think that would be for the best.

Crispin Russell (Bones)

Unpredictability and a great jawline can be sexy as hell, and Bones covers all the basics. After four years of being away from Catherine, our man has gone through a few changes. Now, this handsome vampire is unwilling to let his girl go.

Bones shows up in Catherine’s life once again, and he sets the ball rolling on a whole bunch of things. Secrets are exposed and schemes are unraveled.

Part 3: Fantastic Chapters from One Foot in the Grave

One Foot In The Grave by Jeaniene Frost

Chapter One

How much patience can one have with a lusty vampire when you’re on the clock? Catherine or should we say Catrina could answer this question. We see her in the house of the very old, very sexy vampire. However, Catherine isn’t there for a social call. Rather, she’s on a kill mission.

Catherine shows a lukewarm attitude as she is flirted with by the vampire, Liam. But, she doesn’t shy away from his advances. Of course, you have to give a little treat to complete a trick. Barely ten minutes later, Catherine is being kicked and is destroying old and priceless artifacts.

However, this mission was destined not to be completed as our protagonist learns from her target that they are connected by a common acquaintance who Catherine had actually thought was quite possibly dead. Catherine takes the opportunity to send this acquaintance a message.

Chapter Six

Catherine has returned back to the town where she grew up, but it’s not to reminisce about the old days. She’s back to investigate the incident that took place in her old house and figure out who it was that chose this gruesome method to get her attention. Her investigation leads her to a cave where she is encircled by multiple vampires.

Catherine doesn’t completely mind at first because she expects one person to be waiting for her in that cave. Her expectations are let down, however, when she comes face to face with the wrong ex-boyfriend. What follows is gunshots and throwing knives as Catherine kills her way out of the trap. Sadly, Catherine loses someone important to her in the thick of the battle.

Chapter Ten

One Foot In The Grave Chapter ten

It was her best friend’s wedding, and Catherine couldn’t be any happier to see her friend marry the love of her life. She is the maid of honor and she is feeling great about the day. But, this feeling quickly turns into dread and apprehension when Catherine catches a whiff of the power in the air. Catherine is ready to gut any goddamn vampire that threatens the success of this wedding.

However, maybe the stress of the preparations have gotten to her, or maybe she was simply losing her mind, because here she was, looking at a face that couldn’t be any more familiar. Bones looked at Catherine and she looked at him. Catherine is sure her life was going to get more chaotic.

Now caught in a situation where her friends did not trust her and her boss was keeping serious tabs on her, Catherine is almost feeling helpless with everything. She’s even being babysat by Juan of all people.

But, how quickly the tables do turn. Catherine takes control of the situation and frees her lover from where he is being held. However, she may have come close to burning several bridges.

Tate’s jealousy is through the roof and the incessant displays of affection by Catherine and bones add fuel to the flames. However, he proves that he can be a friend in dire circumstances, even trusting in his captain. His romantic designs do not cloud his judgment as he follows Catherine’s orders regarding the capsule.
