The book tells of Reyna who has been through a bad marriage but fortunately came out alive. She is suddenly put in a difficult position by her brother who wants to marry off his only daughter, her niece and goddaughter, to a strange man. Reyna isn’t pleased with all and expresses her discontent with the marriage.

Honestly, who likes an arranged marriage these days? Everyone wants to find love, not to be treated like cattle being sold off at the market square. Lilliana certainly thinks so. It gets even crappy when you add in the fact that she already has someone she loves.

Reyna struggles to console her niece and get her amicable with the situation. She has to accept, otherwise, it gets ugly with her father’s death and most likely hers as well. It’s the goddamn mob, you can’t break promises.
