Part 1: Plot Summary of Before Jamaica Lane
The story follows Olivia, who is downright terrified of any social interaction or any interaction at all with the opposite sex. This doesn’t show immediately because of her outgoing demeanor. After nine months of being in Edinburgh and starting a wonderful life with friends and family, Olivia’s life sees an upward bound.
She suddenly decides it’s time for a change of pace, that she must push herself to deal with her issues and fears and go after what she wants. She puts this to practice with the crush she develops for a postgrad student.
Have you seen handsome, the word, in person? Have you met sexy? Or did you have dinner with the drop-dead gorgeous? What more can we say about Nate Sawyer? He’s HOT! Chapter Two
What makes a crappy workday for you? For Olivia, it is finding young people getting intimate between bookshelves or in the private rooms meant for the handicapped, in the library.
However, something makes up for the bad day. That is a gorgeous young postgrad who you develop a crush on. Benjamin Livingston does this for Olivia. She catches sight of him and runs to help him out with his book. Unfortunately, for Olivia, it is much harder to interact with this person because of her anxiety around the opposite sex.
Olivia muddles through the brief exchange and afterward admits her problem is severe.
Chapter Three
Nate comes over to Olivia’s for a movie review and commentary session. He brings dinner and a rocky road, just the way Olivia likes. When she begins to eat, her expression of the food’s deliciousness prompts Nate to lead it into the naughty territory.
Nate has an easy relationship with Olivia. They are best friends and always have fun together. When he finishes up, he begins to leave. However, he is stopped by Olivia, and she tells him not to cut his hair, indicating it was better that way. On the other hand, Nate points out her red, lace underwear that was out for his eyes to see. Apparently, it was better that way, too.
Chapter Five
It’s Joss and Braden’s wedding, and everything is going perfectly. Except, Olivia is suddenly faced with her sad love life again. She gets incredibly drunk and Nate has to help her back home.
While they are in her room, Olivia gets really honest. She puts herself down, but Nate is quick to disagree with her about her attractiveness.
Before Jamaica Lane is wonderful and with its amazingly rendered tale, it is perfect for readers with a thing for love.
