Part 1: The Plot Of Beautiful Creatures
Ethan Wate is a seemingly normal teenager who lives with his widowed, non-communicative father and his aunt Amma.
After his mother’s death in a terrible car accident, his aunt helped raise the boy, trying to offer him a normal childhood. She is a seer, placing charms all over the house to protect the boys.
Ethan seems to be bored in his old, stuck-in-the-past town and he is tormented by one recurring nightmare, in which he continuously tries to save a beautiful unknown girl. Soon, when the school finally starts after summer break, he meets the mysterious girl. Lena Duchannes just moved in town and she’s a loner.
At first, the girl avoids Ethan’s attempts in befriending her, but slowly he gains her trust and friendship. When he first approached her, Ethan sensed the smell of rosemary and lemon and felt familiar with the girl.
Confessing the dreams he’d been having about her and wondering if Lena had them too, the girl denies and flees. Over the next few days, Ethan defends Lena from the class bullies, earning her trust.
Ultimately, she confesses to having the same dreams as Ethan and the two of them start hanging out. Soon, Lena comes out as a Caster, a powerful creature and that she is set to be Claimed when she turned sixteen.
The Claiming meant that Lena may turn Light or Dark, good or bad. Ethan tells her that he will stay by her side no matter what happens, earning Lena’s gratitude and love. Slowly she starts seeing him as more than a friend.
Ethan and Lena’s real connection starts showing as they develop a telepathic communication and Ethan managing to break the girl from trance when she’s under attack.
Things take a turn when Lena reveals she can not be with Ethan as a Caster could never be with a mortal. Their physical connection could kill Ethan. Will they manage to stay away from each other?
Part 2: Everything You Need To Know About Beautiful Creatures Series
Beautiful Creatures is a novel from the Caster Chronicle series. Ever since it was launched it has gained a great deal of readers and positive reviews. People were drawn by Ethan’s story and struggles.
As a result of its popularity, the novel was adapted into a movie and a second batch of novels was printed, containing images from the movie.

Part 3: The Main Characters From Beautiful Creatures
Ethan Wate is a high school boy who is bored in his hometown. Nothing ever happened in his old town, and the silence actually frustrated him. The entire story is being told from his point of view, so we get to experience his exact feelings and thoughts throughout the novel.
He is not a Caster, but he still possesses some magical abilities. He is able to communicate telepathically with Lena and even shield her from Dark Casters. Ethan falls for Lena at first sight and although she is reluctant to give in because of the death threat, they somehow make it work.
Lena Duchannes is a powerful Caster, whom Ethan dreams about even before moving into town. She is afraid to confess to Ethan the truth about her heritage, but she eventually does.
On her sixteenth birthday she has to be claimed by Light or Dark and this scares her completely, as she doesn’t want to be evil. Her mother, Serafine tries to lure her to become a Dark Caster, but Lena will have to make her own choices despite her mother’s pressure.
Part 4: Beautiful Creature Novel Review
Among the infinite number of novels narrated from the female lead’s point of view, Beautiful Creature truly stands out as being one of the few narrated from a male perspective.
Although the overall story is the same as always, boy falls for girl, girls falls for boy, the twist about this tale is that Lena and Ethan are unable to touch each other.
This inability to be together on an intimate level is interesting and uncommon as most novels focus their love stories on physical intimacy. Here, it develops naturally, focusing on emotions rather than passion.
I must say that it’s a rather intriguing book, that you can’t miss, especially since it has also been screened. After reading the novel and watching the movie, you can make a parallel and see which one you liked best or if there are any discrepancies between the written story and its adaptation.
