The narrative takes place in a mythical world infused with magic, in which humans, monsters, and gods all cohabit together. Cultivators are practitioners of martial arts who hone their physical prowess through the cultivation of spiritual energy referred to as “soul force” in order to attain superhuman skills.
The planet is divided into several different factions, and these groups are constantly at odds with one another over resources and control. The demon mediums and warriors are involved in these conflicts and their contrasts are something truly acknowledgeable.
The main character of the book is Nie Li, a talented individual who was killed in a conflict with the Sage Emperor and his army. He is described as having perished in the conflict. Although Nie Li has been reincarnated into his younger self at the age of 13, he is still in possession of all of the information and memories from his previous lives.
Nie Li comes to the conclusion that he should put his knowledge to use in order to change his fate and protect the people he cares about since some of them which he cherished had died in front of his eyes.
Nie Li instantly realizes that his revived reality is different from his previous one. He wants to change history and prevent certain tragedies. He starts out weaker than a commoner, and this serial uses racism, which I thought interesting. Due to his knowledge, Nie Li can accurately predict the future, helping him train. He also helps his students become powerful cultivators.
Nie Li faces stronger opponents as his power grows. Many global groups are cooperating to stop him. Since he understands more than the sacred families around him, his intelligence initially threatens them.
This plot concept was the most intriguing in the first few chapters and truly hooked me. Nie Li faces political enemies, demons, and formidable cultivators. Due to his intelligence and compassion, he always wins.

Part 1: Themes of Tales of Demons and Gods
Both the Sage Emperor and Nie Li are engaged in one of the most important conflicts that the novel has to offer. The Sage Emperor was the one who ended Nie Li’s life in his previous incarnation.
Nie Li is steadfast in his determination to wreak vengeance on the Sage Emperor and his army while also preventing a recurrence of the catastrophe. To prepare for the battle against the Sage Emperor, he is now working to establish alliances and amass resources.
The novel’s approach to the construction of its setting is one of the ways in which it succeeds. The world is rich in history and lore due to a large number of factions, demon beasts, and gods that inhabit there.
The author does an excellent job of establishing a setting that is vivid and compelling, which in turn captivates the reader. The complexity of the planet, with its myriad of distinct governmental and social systems, contributes to the multilayered nature of the story.
The growth of the characters throughout the book is also one of its strengths. Nie Li is a character that is both intriguing and complicated. He has a strong sense of purpose, and he wants nothing more than to protect the people he loves.
His friendships, romantic interests, and relationships with those who follow him are all well-developed, and the reader is dragged into the challenges that they face.
The book touches on a variety of subjects, including power, retribution, and atonement, among others. Nie Li goes to great lengths in his pursuit of power and retribution, but along the way, he learns the importance of compassion and forgiveness in interpersonal relationships.
The plot of the novel focuses on Nie Li’s efforts to change his destiny and prevent another tragedy from occurring, but it also explores the concepts of destiny and free will.
Part 2: Main Character of Tales of Demons and Gods
Nie Li is a complex and compelling character, with a clear motivation and a desire to protect his loved ones. He is intelligent, strategic, and cunning, using his knowledge of the future to gain an advantage in his cultivation and to outsmart his enemies.
Despite his desire for power and revenge, Nie Li also learns the value of forgiveness and compassion, and he cares deeply for his disciples, friends, and romantic interests.
Nie Li’s journey is one of growth and development, as he learns from his mistakes and becomes a better person and cultivator. This is perhaps the most relatable trait of the main character which is why I fell in love with him immediately.
We make a lot of mistakes in life, that is a given, and Nie Li’s character brings something out of me that makes me feel as if I would do the same thing in his situation. He is a very realistic character despite the fantasy setting.
I also love how he is not afraid to fight or answer back, that is perhaps the thing I like most about him. His racist, upper-class teacher makes remarks on him for being weak and he answers back in the most splendid, beautiful manner that makes me appreciate him so much more. He does not leave anything to be desired except more of his raw personality.
Part 3: Closing Remarks
Closing Remarks
This novel is one that packs a punch and hooks you in like nothing else. While the start of the story is nothing especially new, I loved how the author took an interesting approach to Nie Li as a character and took inspiration from other lovable characters.
The love interests in the story all spice it up, inserting conflicts inside the reader as to who should be with who and truly immerse you within the story. Most characters are interesting in their own way and their chemistry with Nie Li is something that even I envy at times, it is something beyond brotherhood and friendship.
However, the novel is not without its flaws. The pacing can be slow at times, and the story can get bogged down by side characters and subplots. The author has also been criticized for the novel’s slow updates, with fans often waiting months for new chapters to be released.
In conclusion, Tales of Demons and Gods is a compelling and immersive fantasy novel that explores the world of the cultivation and the struggle for power in a world of demons and gods.
I highly recommend giving it a read since it is an EXPERIENCE, a delightful one that takes you on a roller coaster of internal conflicts, positive emotions, negative emotions, and pure adrenaline with the intensity of its fights.
