The Dragon’s Bride You Can’t Miss

The Dragon’s Bride by Katee Robert is a fantasy romance that focused on a marriage of convenience idea. This trope was rampantly used during the historical period where the female protagonist had to marry someone she did not like for the sake of securing herself.

Unlike the freedom that we all have today in picking the person, we would like to date or marry, women before were not that rightful to choose the man they would end up with.

I must say that it was a character-driven story with a medium-paced flow for a 188-page book. The character development was strong, knowing that Sol and Briar’s personalities were relatable too.

The dual POV was also something I would like to commend; I was able to understand both of their personal sentiments. It’s just that there were explicit contents in this novel which is not good for readers ages 17 and below. There were domestic abuse and sexual scenes.

For a huge fan of fantasy romance, my heart was full for rediscovering this gem even though it was written decades ago. The excitement and thrill still did not feel outdated. It was a combination of sweet and spicy flavored kind of love which I was exactly looking for in a novel.

The Dragon's Bride- Part 1 Background and Characters

Briar Rose is the female lead in Katee Robert’s The Dragon’s Bride. She was a previously married woman who wanted to leave the miserable life she had with her abusive husband, Ethan. She signed a contract with the bargainer demon named Azazel just to protect herself from violence, for she was so tired from getting bruises and punches.

It was the only way for her to save herself. No matter how strange it might be to marry a monster, she only swallowed hard and accepted the conditions. After signing the thick paper, she traveled into a different realm which she was not familiar with.

There she met his husband, Sol, the dragon. He was actually a humanoid dragon, not really a reptile-looking creature, unlike the others who attended the auction.

He chose her to be his wife however there were a lot of conditions that she had to follow. Like for instance, Sol could not force her to cohabit with him and was only allowed to seduce her. It was all okay with Briar however, she was confused if it was fine for her to marry again when she was still married to Ethan in the human world.

There was Azazel who enlightened her about her question. Technically, she was already a widower, knowing that Azazel already killed her abusive husband. Yet, she no longer wanted to get tied to any man because she was traumatized before when she nearly died due to domestic violence.

Amidst her reluctance, she still agreed because based on the contract she was not allowed to get hurt or feel any harm. When the two met, of course, it was inevitable for her not to get scared because he was tall and seemed ferocious.

Also, she was amazed that a dragon-like him could speak English which was an effect of the spell cast on her. Briar had to be with Sol for seven years, yes, seven years living with a monster.

Part 2: A Marriage of Convenience Novel: The Dragon’s Bride’s Ending

"The

The story of The Dragon’s Bride did not move so fast, I could say the pacing was just right. Form how they met up to the last chapter of having a satisfying ending. Katee really had a great talent when it comes to story-telling, she even turned a beastly creature into a hunky dude. Sol was described as a hot human dragon with a great body and pecs.

The author presented wittily banters which I loved the most. Knowing that it was told in the first-person point of view, the dialogue was so personal and human I might say. Their romance was something I was really looking forward to since I started reading this book. And it was undeniably heartwarming, cutesy, and swoon-worthy like I was watching a fresh-romantic series.

Sol was a gentleman who always made her feel so special. However, Briar felt like she was not having a purpose aside from being Sol’s wife to bear children. Thinking about seven years she felt like it was an eternity for her.

In spite of being angsty, Sol had always been concerned and supportive of her. He even took her outside the keep letting her explore more of his territory. They finally fell in love which alarmed her so much.

Until the time came when she felt that being pregnant with Sol’s child was not a good idea. She argued with Azazel but she did not want to leave her child in the demon realm. And that thought only broke her heart. But Sol and Briar’s love for each other was so strong that they finally built a family and ended up with a newly born baby girl named Hyacinth.

Part 3: The Dragon’s Bride Book Recommendation

The Dragon's Bride- Summary

The ending was indeed fantastic, enjoyable and it was something I honestly expected. In real life, couples do have differences but if true love and respect are present, nothing will keep them apart. It was a lesson that I got from Sol and Briar.

They let go of the past behind and lived in the present. Despite the adversity, they were still united as one and learned that no matter how hard the circumstances are. Everything will be fine as long as they have each other.

I finished reading this sweet treat all in one sitting because I just could not get enough in reading every page. Grab your copies now of The Dragon’s Bride. Still available in digital online stores!
