Part 1: Dark Secrets Of A Blind Husband: Cherise’s Journey
On her wedding night, Cherise Shaw was standing in front of the bathroom door, not sure of her next move. Should she go to bed directly or undress her husband? She was nervous as the man in front of her was gorgeous and had a powerful aura, despite being blind and bound to a wheelchair.
Damien Lenoir was a rich man, but he was considered a jinx. Due to his bad luck, everyone blamed him for his parent’s death when he was nine, his sister’s passing away when he was thirteen and for the demise of his previous three fiancées. Coincidentally, or not, all three girls died the night before their wedding.
Cherise had heard the rumors and she was afraid, but her uncle Elvis urged her to marry Damien as he would pay for her grandmother’s medical expenses.
Damien looked at his beautiful wife and, while smirking, he coldly asked her if she were afraid of death. Cherise told her husband that she was grateful for his financial help and promised to stay by his side his entire life and bear his children.
Over the next few days, the girl did her best to get close to her husband, even kissed him, not wanting to start her marriage on the wrong foot. Although Damien didn’t brutally push her away, he didn’t let her get too close either.
The two newlyweds finally bonded when Tristan, Damien’s cousin tried to overstep with his wife. The man wanted to get back at Damien for putting him in an awkward situation with a random girl’s family and attacked Cherise at her college.
As a future cardiologist, Cherise knew exactly how to threaten the man with a blaze, explaining just how a small cut in the right spot could split the man’s heart in two. Tristan foolishly stumbled into the blade, causing a graze into his skin.
For hurting Tristan, old mister Lenoir punished Cherise and whipped her, making her back bleed. Secretly, Damien wasn’t blind at all and he could also walk, yet he needed to keep this a secret. He knew that there was someone who wanted him dead as all those deaths surrounding his life weren’t a coincidence.
Watching his wife getting beaten wasn’t easy. He felt the urge to protect her, especially since he knew that she was innocent. Without thinking and risking exposing himself, he jumped in front of her, taking the last whip.
They both saved each other, thus they realize they can only rely on one another. Soon, Ian, a handsome man infatuated with Cherise, will start doubting Damien’s inabilities to see and walk, thus he will do everything in his power to make the girl doubt her husband.
Even worse, when Ian suspected that Cherise might be pregnant with Ian’s baby, he put an abortion pill in her coffee, leading to a miscarriage. Despite all the turmoil, Damien and Cherise remained together, protecting each other.
Soon though, Cherise will find out the truth about her husband’s lies. Learning that he deceived her about being blind and disabled and the fact that a woman from Damien’s past will come along seeking his attention will cause a strand in their marriage. Will their love eventually prevail?
Part 2: The Naïve Bride And The Healthy Crippled In Dark Secrets Of A Blind Husband
Throughout the story, we witness a series of events that make us understand Damien’s reality and struggles throughout his life.
He is actually an athletic man, smart, not to mention handsome, yet he had to remain inconspicuous all his life due to the enemies lurking around. Unfortunately, his nemesis were also his relatives.
Damien is cautious and a good pretender. There were various occasions when Ian and even Cherise tried to test his blindness and he managed to fake his inability to see quite well, fooling them.
Our hero from Dark Secrets Of A Blind Husband doesn’t go from weak to strong throughout the novel. He is courageous from the beginning, having a well thought plan into motion, yet Cherise merely interfered with his agenda.
He does manage to work a new plan that includes protecting his beloved wife without disclosing his health at first. Damien pushes Cherise to become a better person, stronger and bolder even, especially after she proved her devotion towards him.
When it comes to expressing his feelings, Damien surely lacks experience. The only times when his true sentiments resurface are when he is feeling jealous.
Cherise on the other hand is a beautiful young girl who studies medicine and who wants to help her family at all costs. She doesn’t mind being married to a crippled man all her life, even though this could mean giving up on her career.
She is nice, caring and fair, willing to do anything to accommodate her husband’s needs. Despite being in love with him, she is still willing to bear his child, so she wastes no opportunity to get close to Damien.
After having a miscarriage, both Cherise and Damien blamed themselves for not paying better attention to the girl’s health and well-being. This sad event, along with the past catching up to Damien will eventually lead to a rupture in their relationship that they will need to mend.
