Love and hate are powerful feelings. One could easily slip from hate to love and vice versa in a heartbeat. Sometimes, one person can loathe and cherish someone with the same fervent passion.
In An Impossible Marriage Christopher Lewis behaves as if he despises Margaret with all his heart, but at the same time, his actions often prove otherwise. He is considerate and takes action to undue wrongdoings done to Margaret even if, apparently, he doesn’t seem to care or notice anything.
This intriguing story is captivating as Christopher and Meg need to overcome their ghosts from the past if they truly want to be happy together.

Part 1: Margaret’s Journey Throughout An Impossible Marriage
Margaret is a stunning young girl whose life took a tole for the worst the moment her father died in a plane crash. From that moment on, the billionaire Cristopher Lewis took the girl in his home and kept her under his wing.
The truth is that Cristopher felt he needed to vent his anger towards Margaret, as his own father was in the same plane as the girl’s dad, blaming him for the accident back then.
Everyone knew that Meg’s father was the pilot, thus the culprit for the unfortunate event, yet no one understood the billionaire’s stubbornness into taking the girl in his own home.
Meg carried on with her life, going to school and helping around the house. The past three years have been easier on her, as Christopher has mostly been away. He intimidated the girl, thus his absence was more than welcome.
As soon as the man came back home, he requested to see Meg, as now she was close to being eighteen. Christopher believed she must have grown into a fine young lady. Although undeniably beautiful, Margaret was very thin, as she mostly ate plain bread. She didn’t want to take advantage of everything that was offered to her by her benefactor.
He tried to approach the girl a bit more than usual, causing Margaret to stumble backwards and seem repulsed by the man. Enraged and curious whether the girl was interested in someone else, the gorgeous billionaire dismissed Margaret in a heartbeat and went on a business trip again.
As Christopher wasn’t home, Margaret seized the opportunity and went together with Jodie and Jenson at a party. A drunken Meg fell asleep in no time and, upon waking up the next morning, she found herself in bed with Jenson.
She liked the boy, but she had no recollection of anything happening the night before. Terrified, she tried to run away without listening to Jenson’s explanation only to bump into an enraged Chrisopher.
Without listening to a word from Margaret, Christopher made her sign a marriage agreement in order to let Jenson unharmed. Soon enough though, both Jodie and Jenson were sent abroad, without permission of coming back in town or anywhere near Margaret again.
A heartbroken Christopher went away again for several years and only returned when Margaret called him to ask for a favor. Jodie was getting engaged and she wanted permission to return back home.
Christopher granted his wife’s request, while also coming back home himself. But he didn’t return alone. He was accompanied by Megan, a beautiful woman who wanted the billionaire for herself.
Megan and Margaret turn out to have the same mother. Hannah abandoned Margaret and her father when Meg was only a little girl and now she had the back of her younger daughter, encouraging her to snatch her sister’s husband without remorse.
Just as Margaret finally starts acknowledging her feelings towards Christopher, she loses her pregnancy due to Megan’s reckless driving. Instead of backing Margaret, Christoper defends his mistress, making the woman once again distant and pleading for divorce.
Will Christopher grant her wish? Or will he finally let go of his revenge desire and listen to his heart telling him to love his wife?
Part 2: A Small Glimpse Into An Impossible Marriage Novel
One of the things I appreciated about An Impossible Marriage is the constant flow of events. There’s no story dragging and no over explanations regarding a specific scene.
Everything flows natural, unrepetitive and in an appealing way. To get a better view on the story, here’s a sneak peek into the novel.
An Impossible Marriage Chapter 25
Elizabeth nodded, aware that now, since Christopher is back from abroad, his wife should share a room with him. She immediately proceeded to move Margaret’s things into the master’s room, not before Christopher told her that she should also start calling Meg Mrs Lewis now.
Margaret is stunned to see her things being moved and one thought started clouding her mind. What if Christopher wants a baby? She tries to put aside this thought and headed for the shower. She had to be done with her nightly routine and get in bed before her husband returned in his room. This way, she could pretend to be asleep.
When Christopher finally comes, he gets undressed without bothering to hide his nakedness, making Meg truly watch him for the first time. Without a doubt, he was a handsome man!
While he gets dressed in clean clothes, he catches Meg watching him, but the woman immediately closes her eyes and pretends to be asleep. Without a word, Christopher leaves. Hours later, Margaret receives a phone call to go and fetch her husband, who is drunk in a bar.
Part 3: An Impossible Marriage Book Review
Making a comparison between An Impossible Marriage and other such long romance novels, I must say that Christopher and Margaret’s story is by far one of the most enjoyable romances I’ve read so far.
I find it appealing that Margaret didn’t devote her life and heart to Christopher from the beginning. Her interest in Jenson and her genuine feelings whenever he’s mentioned are like a breath of fresh air.
They show the fact that Meg is not a gullible little frail girl, who would easily cling on a man to protect and save her. She has her own opinions and feelings and, although she seldom allows Christopher to taunt her, she still stands her ground and is ready to fight back.
I would have appreciated to see a little bit more affectionate moments between Christopher and Meg, or at least, get a glimpse into what the man is really feeling, share his emotions, but I guess that his cold and unreadable expression is also a way to allure us readers.
