Star Odyssey bears everything that it takes to be considered as an undiscovered gem, and it’s no suprise why the fanbase continues to expand day by day.
Star Odyssey might give you an impression as a simple apocalyptic novel, one that can sate your satisfaction and tickle your pleasure without doing much, but there’s more than its interesting premise.
Star Odyssey is a tale that completely understood its assignment. Through showing the dark side of humanity, and cosmological mysteries that humans haven’t explored yet, we are deemed to deal with wonders that questioned our very own sanity. It can not only rub our soft spot for fantasy and make us successfully entertained, but it will also feed the hunger of our minds with valuable lessons and core values.

Expanding over a thousand chapters, and showing more than one arc of the characters, Star Odyssey has reached its potential where it would be impossible to mention it without saying even one praise.

Lu Yi’s personality and his whole cultivation journey are something that you must read once in your life. If not, you’re going to have a great loss and it will be a shame for such a wonderful piece.

Here’s what you need to learn more about Star Odyssey.

Part 1: Storyline of Star Odyssey

Star Odyssey - Lu Yi's Mysterious Past

To fully understand the universe of Star Odyssey, we must first take the spotlight on the strange phenomenon that drove the imaginative earth to meet its downfall. How and why it appeared on earth is one of the mysteries that the main character is trying to deduce, apart from his past that was tragically snatched from him.

Humankind just apparently woke up one night, in a blinding bliss of ignorance and curiosity, and all of the living creatures harboring the earth had mutated into murderous beats. Humans hadn’t become an exception.

Many lost their ability to think and function normally, eventually transforming into shells or as many dubs them ‘zombies’, mutant creatures that have no apparent goal other than hunger.

Meanwhile, those who survived the phenomenon were granted superficial abilities and a boost to their strength. These individuals called themselves “cultivators”, somehow, became much superior to normal humans and much stronger than the average mutant beasts.

During the six months of the post-apocalyptic period, the human race did their best to use their knowledge into constructing a rough ranking system that determines the classification of powers and abilities of the cultivators.

The system is parted into three kinds. The Realm of Man, the Realm of Earth, and the Realm of Sky. The latter is by far

Those who managed to show destructive energies were placed among the Seven Sages.

Of course, all of this information is just a decoration of the main character’s arc. The story is mainly about Lu Yin, a cultivator who came from a distant planet and is currently on a mission to extract the mysterious source of power on Earth.

Beneath his ulterior motive, he’s also aiming to stitch up the main events of his past, and possibly answer some of his questions regarding who he was and what life did he really have before the consciousness happened.

Star Odyssey - Lu Yi's Planet

None of the earthen knew about his backstory. They never questioned him, only curious why a normal cultivator possess so much power. His natural abilities even exceeded the admiring ones. But suspicions about his identity slowly grew when Lu Yi accidentally dropped hint by hint every time a rare situation occurred. It was a ticking time bomb. Modern Earth will be upended once Lu Yi revealed his true colors, and demand a response to his whims.

As he ventured on the ruins of the wrecked earth, he discovered more and more mysteries and revelations that instead of enlightening him, catastrophized him like a soul-eating force. His priorities then eventually blurred.

Part 2: Enticing Chapters of Star Odyssey

Chapter 1

Star Odyssey - Lu Yi's Power

Our dystopian world was introduced. Bits of information were as to how and why the earth has been wrecked by an apocalypse, all the while unfolding vague details about the main protagonist-Lu Yi. He was currently engaged in a fight with a mutant rat, and there was a glimpse of his power as he fought it.

Alongside these, Lu Yi’s mysterious background was also hinted at when he shrugged off the offer of a cultivator to find him some backer. His refusal automatically raised the question if he was ever there for another motive other than survival. Who was he, really, and why is he much stronger than everyone else?

Chapter 11

Star Odyssey - Modern Universe

As an effect of the zombie outbreak, Lu Yi was forced to go see the chaos himself. And the current status was too sickening to endure. In the burning building, one prominent cultivator was trapped.

They must face the zombies head-on if they ever want to rescue him or dissipate the danger of the situation. There’s a problem, though. It was revealed the zombies they must face head-on is a rare kind. They have intelligence that only cultivators have. And they are much stronger than the average kind they already know how to fight.

Consequences of the fight that ensued in the previous chapters. The POV is on Jeraldine-the elite student who let Lu Yi perish in the ruins of the combat and was celebrating silently when Lu Yi took her by surprise.

She was taken aback to see him in the flesh, displaying the attributes of a sentinel, and seemed to be very different. What made her more confused was Lu Yi’s aim in pursuing her.

He wants her crystal ball and used it, an action that shouldn’t be done by a mere cultivator. She tried to fight him but end up staggering because Lu Yi showed off some power that none of them has seen before. She popped the question if he was from another planet to which Lu Yi responded with a cold and distant tone.

Part 3: Conclusion on Star Odyssey, and a Similar Book on Dreame

Carefully compacting all the ideas spread throughout a thousand-chapter novel, you’ll get an amazing piece of a fantasy book mixed with a dystopian one.

It kind of reminded me of Star Wars and though the differences are incomparable, the ambiance and the feeling it caused me was identical to the one I experienced the first time I watched Star Wars. Monumental, and extremely engrossing. Honestly, it’s hard to express through words how great the experience was.

What made me fall in love with it the most is the writing style and the world-building that seemed too real for a fictional book. I haven’t encountered any plot holes or inconsistencies that ruined the spirit of the story. Page by page, there was mystery, fear, and anticipation that mounted up with each scene unfolding.

Definitely highly recommend it.
