The story starts off with our female protagonist, Deirdre, in quite a pinch as she receives the results of her pregnancy test. She was, indeed, one month pregnant and panicked as her doctor congratulated her for what seemed to be something associable with demise only. She asked the doctor if he was absolutely sure that the pregnancy test was correct since she claimed that all she had was gastric pain.
As a reply to her request to check again, the doctor replied if she had intercourse in the past month. The response to this question was affirmative, as Deirdre remembered all the times Brendan ravaged her. The doctor then made the conclusion that not only did Deirdre not have protected intercourse, but she also didn’t take the morning-after pill.
The doctor reaffirmed that the probability of pregnancy would be high with those conditions, and even went as far as to question why she thought it was impossible for her to be pregnant.
She then asked the doctor in a panicky way to alter the documents to show that she was not pregnant, to which the doctor said that she would have to stop right there. He had no intention of doing anything illegal, and what she asked was definitely something illegal. The doctor then chanted out to the next patient to come along, and Deirdre left the hospital unsure of what to do next.

Part 1: Deirdre’s Pregnancy in Resent, Reject, Regret
Being pregnant was something that would usually be seen in a positive light for most mothers, though not for Deirdre. Her husband, Brendan, already saw her as more of something that he had to tolerate and was losing his patience with her. She wanted to keep the child that she had, though she knew if Brendan found out about it, he would terminate the pregnancy in a flash.
Returning home, she saw Brendan coming downstairs and was in his pajamas, his collar slightly loose which displayed and reminded Deirdre just how handsome and dashing he was, the reason she married him in the first place and was caught in his trap.
He asked her immediately in a calm, demanding voice as to what the results of the hospital tests were to which she replied that everything was okay and the problem was just relevant to gastric issues.
He left the topic alone and demanded food instead, he was hungry. Deirdre’s cooking was one of the only things that made her tolerable in the eyes of Brendan. He had whipped her inelegancy into shape after her marriage to him.
After eating in one of the most elegant manners, Brendan said that he spoke to Steven Young and that Deirdre would be going out with him later. After asking a bunch of questions, Deirdre was shocked to hear that Brendan was sending her to the hospital, and that he wanted her to get rid of the child.
Part 2: Main Characters of Resent, Reject, Regret
The main characters of this novel are Deirdre and Brendan, who has the most interesting of power dynamics in their relationship. Deirdre by herself is a timid, confused, and adorable girl that has been wedded to nothing short of a beast. Her cute personality shines through the reader’s screen, leaving them drooling for more of her interactions.
Deirdre has exceptional character development in the series, as she learns more and more to voice her opinions, to not be the one that gets taken advantage of in her relationship, and to solidify her place in the world. It’s rather reassuring and motivating to see her progression in this novel and it really brings that extra bit of life that it needs to the novel.
Brendan, on the other hand, exerts his own intimidating and possessive aura. He’s almost the complete opposite of his wife and gets what he wants whenever he wants. He’s rich, he’s elegant and he’s incredibly dashing and powerful. Any woman on earth would fall for his looks alone.
While he initially comes off as someone cold, collected, and demanding, he starts showing a side of himself later on in the series that comes off as soft and caring. The development between both of these characters is nothing short of exhilarating to read!
Part 3: Deirdre’s Miserable Love Triangle in Resent, Reject, Regret
While pleading for her child to be safe, Brendan consistently demands that the child be exterminated from this world and never live his life. This is because of his superiority complex, deeming that the only one that could bare his child was Charlene, who was in a coma. Deirdre even said that she would disappear along with her child as soon as Charlene woke up, though Brendan could not accept that.
Deirdre always had to go through the inevitable reality that Brendan would abandon her even if she was dying cold on the ground if it meant that he had to go to Charlene, the person he truly cared for. It was especially heartbreaking after she was abused both mentally and physically, then left immediately after Brendan’s true love had arisen. This element of the story adds the most suspense, undoubtedly.
Part 4: Conclusive Remarks
Recent Reject Regret by Aqua Summers is one of those novels where you can’t get enough of its story, its worldbuilding, and its wonderful characters. I was hooked on the story in a measly matter of three chapters, as it was just that good. Brendan seemed calm and collected, but he showed an aggressive and cruel side right in the beginning which makes his future losses all the more meaningful.
The writing style is captivating, intense, and easy to understand while providing the novel with a personality of its own. Each scene is elevated by the skilled and experienced writing of Aqua Summers, and it relentlessly keeps you coming back for more.
The novel has exponential levels of development and change, you just have to give it a read!
