Six years ago, he was the best of the best but was framed, incapacitated, and imprisoned. His wife suffered because of him. Six years later, he is now the God of War with immense wealth and power. Standing at the pinnacle of martial arts, he holds her hand in his and rules the world.
I guess stories that are centered on revenge never run out of an exciting plot to present. I thought at first that The Protector is another rising man troupe, but when I see that the male lead here is a military man, I give this a try. At least, unlike other rising man troupes, the male lead here isn’t just some rich man back for revenge.
The Protector is a revenge action romance novel that tells the story of Levi Garisson who was mistreated by his adoptive parents and whose wife was doomed to humiliation. Seeing the genre of The Protector, I decided to give this a try for I’m certain this isn’t going to be boring. The Protector doesn’t just focus on romance and revenge but this is also an action story.

Part 1: Plot Summary of The Protector
In The Protector, Levi Garisson was an orphan. He was adopted by the Garisson family, the rich family in North Hampton, but life for him in the family wasn’t easy. The Garisson wasn’t fond of him. They usually beat him and maltreated him. Yet, despite that, Levi strived hard to win his family’s approval. He became a successful start-up in the business world.
Contrary to what he’s hoping, his family got jealous and mad as a result, they framed him for a sin he didn’t commit. This made his life miserable. He was beaten up, left cold in the street, and sent to prison while his reputation was being ruined. As a result, his wife was humiliated and forced by the Garisson family to marry another guy.
Years later, Levi came back to North Hampton. He was no longer the same man whom they trampled before, rather she rose to power and influence and was dubbed as the God Of War. He once inflicted defeat in the strongest battalion of eighteen countries and created the Five Great War Regiment.
So, basically, at this point of his return to North Hampton, the previously humiliated orphan boy had already dominated not just the business world but has the capacity to dominate a nation, thus Levi Garrison has become The Protector.
Part 2: Main Characters of The Protector
Levi Garrison
He is The Protector basically because he came back to protect his wife from his enemies. He is the commander in chief of nine war zones, the God of War of Erudia. So, here in The Protector, we have a male lead who both has wealth and weapons.
Without the Garisson knowing, and without his wife’s family’s knowledge, Levi Garisson can actually wipe off a clan in a command of his words.
As The Protector, Levi even made a scene when his private jet landed back in North Hampton, causing eight hours delay of international flights, yet despite that, the rich people in North Hampton even competed for his favor. That’s how influential he was.
Zoey Lopez
She’s the female lead of The Protector. Her character was not shown much at the beginning of The Protector. We only know her as the wife whom Levi was the reason why he came back to North Hampton.
Yet, in the latter part, we have seen her as the faithful wife of Levi and despite constant pressure both by her family, and the Garisson family, she remains firm and refuses to remarry, choosing to wait for Levi’s return.
I could say that Zoey of The Protector has some kind of a noble character yet she isn’t the type who could save herself and deal fix her problems, thus Zoey’s character needs The Protector, which is the essence of this story here, Levi is The Protector of Zoey, and that’s where the plot is centered.
Garrison Family
In The Protector, the Garisson is not actually a big family and they’re not the usual family we know. Every member of the Garrison family works to maintain the family’s influence and wealth. Each has a different level of authority in the family. There’s not really affection or a close bond in the Garrison family.
Yet, their characters showed us how money runs the world, and how money could run a family. They showed us greed and pride. They showed us how money could become a weapon. The Garisson family in The Protector was an elegant bunch of villains.
Part 3: Plot Review of The Protector
The Protector was particularly interesting for me because of its action genre. It is not about the romantic relationship between Levi and Zoey but about Levi’s revenge and his being the god of war. I like how the plot was conceptualized. I must say, it was entertaining. Yet, I think the charm of The Protector lies in the characterization of the male lead.
It has always been intriguing when main characters are tagged as someone immovable and undefeated, like Levi as the god of war. He was the most interesting aspect of this story.
As for the plot, I could say that I wasn’t disappointed because this is a bit different from the rising man troupe I have read. Here, the male lead returns not just to prove that he’s one rich change man, but to protect his wife, and avenge themselves. That kind of plot concept was nice and catchy for me.
Part 4: Similar Book To The Protector
If you love the protective guy in The Protector for sure you will love Her Protector too. I honestly love this book more because I’m into the fantasy genre.
I think this is similar to The Protector in the way that the male lead here would go far to protect his beloved, and I like this more for the female lead here isn’t some kind of damsel in distress. Her Protector tells the story of Maxon and Nova.
It’s been a year and a half since Nova and Maxon completed their mating.
Things were going wonderfully until someone started sending Nova threatening letters and dead things.
Normally, Maxon would’ve just sent out a search party to find the bastards, but they’re smart. They use silver powder on everything making it hard for Maxon and the pack to get anything from it.
Not to mention Nova’s gifts haven’t been working well lately, and to top it all off Maxon knows Nova is keeping something from him, but he won’t push her into telling him; scared he’ll push her away.
When the threats hit too close to home, Maxon makes a choice that will forever alter his life. Whether it is good or bad Maxon doesn’t know yet. All he knows is that he will do anything to keep Nova safe.
