In this review of a book, Gu Shishi’s life is compared to a novel with a thrilling plot twist. As an avid reader, one of my wildest fantasies involves swapping places with the heroine of my favorite book and sharing her happily ever after with the handsome and wealthy hero of the story.

Do you think Gu Shishi will be able to make the most of her new role as a damsel in distress with a handsome prince charming, or would she rather spend her days reading her favorite book? Here’s how her life began in the novel Spending the Villain’s Money to Extend My Life.

Part 1: The Chain of Events of Spending the Villain’s Money to Extend My Life

Spending the Villains Money to Extend My Life: Plot

Gu Shishi was born into relative wealth in the novel “Spending the villain’s money to extend my life” but she switched places at birth with Gu Wushuang, a young woman from a poor family.

Due to her heart condition, Gu Wushuang was deemed unsuitable to be Huo’s arranged wife. The union of the Huo and Gu families was a time-honored custom. That settles it; Gu Shishi will wed the venerable old Huo. She may have been assigned to the Hou household, but her true affections lie with the second young master.

Gu Shishi couldn’t believe she’d been transported into the novel she was reading, much less the role of the protagonist’s female counterpart. Her husband Huo Sishen’s masculine voice interrupted her thought, and she looked up at the tiny closet window with wide eyes.

With her eyes shut and shame entirely accepted, Gu Shishi was about to get a call from Huo Shishen when a voice interrupted him. When she realized that the young master was leaving, she let out a long sigh.

Seeing how close she was, she decided to use Huo Shishen’s bathroom for her bath. Having freshly showered, Gu Shishi went to Huo Shishen’s closet to select an outfit. She was dressed in his boxers and a baggy shirt. When Gu Shishi had finished getting ready, Huo Shishen emerged from the dressing room. He stared at Gu Shishi with wide eyes.

Soon after that, Gu Shishi once again faded into oblivion. The novel presented a constant test of her courage with each new chapter. She opened her eyes to find herself met by angry glares. It was Huo Shishen’s annoyed expression directed toward her.

Whenever Huo Shishen saw her, he immediately became enraged. Words appeared before her eyes, stating that she needed to find a solution to this problem to continue living her life in the novel. Huo Shishen’s big hand came up, and he began to choke her. Thanks to the helper named Siyi, who barged into Huo Shishen’s room and announced that they needed to act quickly because of a crisis.

Gu Shishi had to find ways to escape sticky situations to continue her life in the novel. Evidently, she was being abused by her ruthless husband, but she had to find a way to keep going.

Since the original Gu Shishi in the novel met her end at Huo Shishen’s hands, using her money to buy more time was the only way to bring about the desired outcome. Her surroundings constantly shift as she reads, and she eventually jumps to the next chapter.

Spending the Villains Money to Extend My Life: Gu Shishi

Spending the Villain’s Money to Extend My Life, the book she most recently read while riding in a taxi features her as the main character and protagonist. Waking up in a strange room with a man she thought was the villain in a novel filled her with terror.

But to make it to the end of the book, she has to face the dangers and complete the stage without dying. To accomplish this, she must negotiate with her ruthless husband, Huo Shishe, who is responsible for Gu Shishi’s death in the original novel. Still, she will not perish within its confines. “Spending the villain’s money to extend my life” from the title itself is the key for her to survive the scenes of every chapter.

Chapter 4 of Spending the Villain’s Money to Extend My Life

Thanks to Siyi, the house helper, intervened and prevented Huo Shishen from completely choking Gu Shishi. In this section of Spending the Villain’s Money to Extend My life, Siyi advised her to stay in her room rather than explore the rest of the house.

And because Huo Shishen is so particular about how his garments are laid out, Gu Shishi shouldn’t rearrange them as she did earlier to avoid her husband’s anger. Gu Shishi nodded briefly as Siyi left the room.

Chapter 7 of Spending the Villain’s Money to Extend My Life

The mansion’s cook has called for Gu Shushi and asked what she would like to eat. Gu Shushi felt somewhat better after being scolded and hurt by Huo Shishen when the chef brought her the requested food. After finishing her meal, she heads back to her room, and it is then that she has her first realization that she is actually playing the role of one of the characters in the book.

The Gu Shishi in front of the mirror was too beautiful and had a perfect body. Her delicate and frail appearance makes it easy to understand why Gu Shishi died so young. Now that she is playing the part, she is doing whatever it takes to stay alive, even if it means “spending the villain’s money to extend my life,” until the end of the book.

Chapter 8 of Spending the Villain’s Money to Extend My Life

This section of Spending the Villain’s Money to Extend My Life is where Gu Shishi meets Gu Wushuang. One of the people who will make Gu Shishi’s life miserable is a villain named Gu Wushuang.

Gu Wushuang doesn’t appear ill to Gu Shishi, and the woman’s gentle mockery of her every time she speaks is evidence of this. In Gu Shishi’s opinion, if anyone should be wed to a monster like Huo Shishen, it’s Gu Wushuang, not the gentle and sympathetic Gu Shishi. From then on, Gu Shishi vowed to keep an eye on Gu Wushuang’s every move.

Part 4: Story that is Intriguing as Spending the Villain’s Money to Extend My Life

This was the first book I’d read where the antagonist’s drive was crucial to the protagonist’s survival. Even though the new Gu Shishi faces many difficulties, she has succeeded brilliantly thus far in every chapter. The Second Wife, by Scarlett Strange, is just one example of the many stories on Dreame with surprising turns of events like the ones described in this book review.
