Love Triangles Novel Review: The Unloved Luna Queen

The story starts off with a Prologue of sorts. Darcy enters a ballroom in which a coronation was to take place.

Darcy had no will to attend this coronation since it hurt her to see the love of her life being with someone else, though she held her head high (somewhat) in the hopes that she would find her mate here. She also misses her brother Dylan, who’s pretty much the only person along with one other who cares for her, as he was away for Alpha training.

Darcy was an Alpha female herself, though her parents thought nothing of her and did not let her go to any training sessions. A feeling of happiness came across Darcy that her best friend Lavender, the second person who cares for her, would be at the ceremony. If her brother was there, both of them would have gone off alone since they were probably mates.

As she enters in hopes of finding Lavi, she gets attracted to a scent that was irresistible to her. She immediately went out in search of it and came across a beautiful man. It was destined to be her mate. Both of them exchanged glances, the man took his hands off of his woman and was angered as Darcy stepped back trying to control herself.

Both of their inner wolves were thriving with desire. Darcy gets slammed against a wall, and the male lets out a scream declaring him claiming Darcy which went across the entirety of the ballroom.

Part 1: Main Characters of The Unloved Luna Queen

Main Characters of the Unloved Luna Queen

Darcy, the main character, is an Alpha Female that was neglected and ignored by her parents. This may cause the reader to feel sympathy for Darcy, however, the execution of her explaining her background feels a little forced.

It was iffy, though inevitably you do feel bad for her. Darcy is beautiful in many senses, though she fails to find a lover and hopes that she can find mutual love with her mate. Darcy brightens up this story and is definitely a character that I keep wanting more of, though sometimes on very rare occasions, her writing falls flat.

We then have Colton; the spice of the series and he is meant to be the Alpha King soon. He has basically every desirable quality and has his eyes only for Patrina (a friend of Darcy), she thinks highly of herself and has essentially every red flag in a friendship.

Colton finds out that Patrina is not his mate, though he wants to have her as his queen either way. Colton develops here and there throughout the series and is overall an interesting character whose writing is questionable at best.

Stephen also acts as one of the primary characters and his character I found the most lovable, somehow. He has every possible positive quality that you would want in a man, though he sets his eyes on only one individual, Darcy. The thing that really defines the passion in his heart is that Darcy is not his mate, though he only wants to be with her despite that.

Though there was a reason why he had no desire for his mate, he couldn’t get her, and the reason remained within him.

Each character in the series spices it up exponentially. Spice is a good word to describe the series in general honestly.

Part 2: Main Theme of The Unloved Luna Queen

Main Theme of the Unloved Luna Queen

The Unloved Luna Queen, with its title alone, suggests that it is a story that makes you feel sympathetic. It does initially, though it dilutes its own effect by making you read the same thing twice. We get introduced to Darcy’s lack of love and attention twice. Twice! It does somewhat get repetitive, though the later parts of the series make up for it.

The romance in The Unloved Luna Queen is a bit in your face at certain points though it is pulled off beautifully, it even makes the reader envious of a desire for true love. The characters in the story themselves define their own perception of love which is something beautiful.

However, the series quickly changes its tone when Darcy gets accused of murder despite her being innocent. Relationships break or add depth within themselves, the tone gets rather serious, and the story really starts to pick up its pace from that point onwards.

However, the thematic representation of this story is really held down by the writing. It is plain average, and some moments get EXTREMELY brought down in quality using plain words that don’t really fit the scene. Midnight Shines, the author, has created a story nothing short of exceptional though improvements in the writing are visible a little later.

Part 3: Conclusion to the Unloved Luna Queen

Werewolf Eyes

The Unloved Luna Queen is a novel that demands your attention, with every element of its story being masterfully created to appeal to the reader and it succeeds. Despite the rather plain and disappointing writing, there is not much else to dislike about the series.

Sure, the characters do feel a little flat at times though this is a very rare occasion and can surely be overseen by the fact that they develop immensely throughout the series, have deep chemistry with each other, and react in a way that gets the reader going. Stephen and Darcy’s character development together are one of the golden points of the series.

This is an absolute must-read for you, I was so hooked from the beginning and each shortcoming that the story faced was quickly swept away by something greater. The side characters also bring this series to life in an indescribable and appreciable fashion which I noticed other novels utterly failed to do.
