A strong independent girl. A realm of fairies and mortals. A Court of Thorns And Roses is as intriguing as its title. Young adult fantasy romance has been a trending read nowadays perhaps because of its appealing characters and of course the romantic story.

A Court of Thorns of Roses as its title appeals seemed to be a promising young adult fantasy romance. The premise of the story was about a young girl, Feyre, who kills a wolf in the woods but happens to not be a wolf. As a consequence, she was dragged into the land beyond mortals, the realm of fairies.

She discovered that her captor isn’t really a beast but a fae, and as she was forced to adapt to their world she finds herself falling in love with someone from the fairie land, but then there was an ancient wicked shadow growing in the fairie land.

The premise actually of A Court of Thorns And Roses is very simple and common, it looks like a children’s story to me, yet let’s see how the author will deliver its plot.

Part 1: Plot Summary of A Court of Thorns And Roses

A Court ofThorns And Roses Plot

In A Court of Thorns And Roses, young Feyre accidentally murders a Fae while out hunting in the Mortal Lands to provide food for her family, who are starving to death. Because of Treaty law, Feyre must give up the rest of her life to Prythian, the enchanted Realm of the Faeries where, not so long ago, people were sold into slavery and slain for entertainment.

At first, all she can think of is getting away. She is drawn slowly and inevitably intrigued into the fairie world, along with all of its magic, mystery, peril, and glory.

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Dawn, Day, and Night,” it mused as if I hadn’t even answered. The seven Courts of Prythian, each ruled by a High Lord, all of them dead in their own way. They are not merely powerful they are Power.”

Feyre arrives in the Spring court, which has been plagued for almost fifty years by a masquerade curse. There is a blight on the land, and there are all kinds of horrible monsters attacking the court. This blight will soon enter the human realm, endangering every person close to Feyre.

Part 2: Main Protagonists of A Court of Thorn And Roses

Feyre

A Court of Thorns And Roses Feyre

Feyre of A Court of Thorns And Roses is a stubborn and mature young woman. I like that she has her flaws but she knows what she did wrong. Feyre of A Court of Thorns And Roses is a hunter.

I like that she was shown as a strong woman, a type that is difficult to tame, well, I honestly expect something like that in her, but there are some scenes in A Court of Thorns And Roses where her kickass side disappoints.

Nevertheless, Feyre of A Court of Thorns And Roses is the character this book needed. Feyre is a remarkable character for someone who loves her family despite how they treated her.

Rhysand

A Court ofThorns And Roses Rhysand

A Court of Thorns And Roses is a love triangle that was unnoticeable at first until you realize that Rhysand and Feyre have chemistry. Rhysand’s character is the “don’t get close too close it’s dark inside,” yet despite his dark personality and the mystery that surrounds his nature he’s the one who’s sincere to Feyre.

He’s dark but he’s real. He sometimes acts like the bad guy, but that was just a facade, deep inside he’s got a heart. I like Rhysand’s character here in A Court of Thorns And Roses to be crafted this way, for his character was the kind that drives the plot.

Tamlin

A Court ofThorns And Roses Tamlin

Because your human joy fascinates me the way you experience things, in your life span, so wildly and deeply and all at once, is entrancing. I’m drawn to it, even when I know I shouldn’t be, even when I try not to be.”

So, he’s the guy who’s responsible for why Feyre was dragged to the Fae world. Feyre was young and inexperienced, and Tamlin was the first man to treat her nicely and be her first love, so I suppose from her point of view it made sense.

But I doubted that Tamlin was that committed. Indeed, he made an effort to preserve her, but admiration is not the same as true love. It was like he wanted to possess her because he finds her pretty and he was fascinated with her.

Nevertheless, I find it Brilliant that Tamlin’s character here in A Court of Thorns And Roses was crafted this way for it gives intrigue and puzzles the readers. His character’s interaction together with Feyre and Rhysand makes up an effective love triangle.

Part 3: Plot Review of A Court of Thorns And Roses

A Court ofThorns And Roses Book Cover

What’s weak in A Court of Thorns And Roses for me is its world-building. I mean, don’t get me wrong, maybe I expected much reading that this is a story of both human and fairie realms, although some places were painted beautifully with descriptive words, but don’t get me wrong, I was hoping for more yet something is lacking.

For me, it’s the characters that carried the plot of A Court of Thorns And Roses. The main protagonists are suited well to the love triangle theme, and the side characters add colors to the plot.

A Court of Thorns And Roses attempted to retell a kind of beauty and the beast theme, yet I think it wasn’t effective. Instead, A Court of Thorns And Roses possesses its own beauty. One thing I admired about this book was it attempted as a young adult fiction yet it too had captured the adult readers’ attention.

Part 4: Similar Book To A Court of Thorns And Roses

A Court ofThorns And Roses Similar Book

If you love fae and magic there’s a great book I will suggest that is similar to A Court of Thorns And Roses. What about fae and werewolves plus a kickass heroine?

That sounds interesting, right? Into The Fae tells the story of a great luna, a female werewolf who happens to be a fae at the same time. With peace finally descending on the Romanian Grey Wolves, the longtime fae ambassador to the wolves, Perizada, has been given a new mission by the Great Luna.

But Peris desire for revenge against her sister, Lorelle, burns in her heart. Further complicating matters, the great white wolf, Lucian Lupei, has been returned to the pack after centuries trapped in the Dark Forest, and it appears he is destined to be with Peri. Can she put aside her thoughts of vengeance long enough to accept Lucians love and complete her mission?
