Most of the events shown in The Prince’s Bride conformed to the royal romance trope standards. Unlike the other books written in this genre, this masterpiece gave another hint of flavor to its characters. And since it is interracial, the male lead who is the handsome crowned prince is white while the smart and sassy female protagonist is black.
This work of fiction opened the reader’s mind to the colorful world of royalties and as the novel told, it was more than a spectacle. Written in the dual first-person point of view, it was indeed a pleasurable swoon-worthy read which promised humorous banters and clever narratives.
The author also purposively made it as special as it could be, creating it with a slow-burn effect which made it more exciting. No wonder she mentioned a disclaimer right before the story starts. I could say that the length of the book was not that long, it would not bring you to a boring state and it is a promise.
The Prince’s Bride offers a hopeful romantic storyline, but not overly cheesy. There was a balance of drama, comedy, and romance which I truly love in this first book. Race might be pertinent in this work of fiction but not to all characters present in the chapters.
The steamy scenes were not that perfect but still moving and effective enough to show sensuality. So, from the gorgeous cover down to the last page, I could really say that The Prince’s bride was a job well done. Kudos to J.J. McAvoy for a brilliantly romantic story, that even at the young age of twenty she came up with this gem. Impressive!

Odette Rochelle Wyntor an American Heiress, who was also a well-known singer. Her life in the limelight turned into a complicated dilemma. Now she was living off her rich dad’s money. This fashionable pretty miss was entitled to receive an inheritance. Yet, she had to follow her father’s irrevocable condition, which she had to follow, or else she would not get it.
Twenty-five point nine billion in total was the amount she was bound to claim. Of which one-third of the heirloom would be given upon her marriage to a man with a respectable reputation. The other third was about to be granted after the three years of the said marriage and the rest would be awarded in full when her first child was born.
Then there was this hot prince of Ersovia named Galahad Fitzhugh Cornelius Edgar, in short Gale. He was a playboy then and was always acting in a happy-go-lucky way, not even thinking of taking responsibility for anything.
Knowing that he grew up having all the riches he wanted, he was not interested in any serious relationship. However, his family pushed him to marry Odette because their kingdom was suffering from scarcity. It was the only way for them to get back on their feet.
Fate brought them together when both their families arranged for them to marry each other. Yet, things started rough for the two. Odette was stubborn and never wanted to be held by anyone. She did not care if she was about to marry a prince.
Unlike other girls her age, it was not even her dream to be involved with a man from a royal family in Europe. On the other hand, Prince Gale was having the same feeling as her at first. He was irritated every time his family would force him to get close to Odette.
Part 2: Thoughts The Prince’s Bride Brings To Mind
Amidst the repulsiveness they were both showing to each other, a certain attraction formed between them. It was like a miracle that Odette and Prince Gale found the love they were both not expecting. And because they both have to save their families, they learned to grow together and changed their old bad habits.
Though it was pretty quick for them to soften their hearts, it only goes to show that they were the right ones. A lot of circumstances happened which brought the princess pain.
The whole story was not only focused on the romantic side but also presented the issues which circulated in the monarchy type of governance. Tremendous cliffhangers were placed accordingly which made me crave more.
My heart was warmed by how The Prince’s Bride took my attention in one sitting. It was relatively short compared to other regal-themed stories that I have read. Gale and Odette had a fascinating chemistry where cute friendship and sweltering romance existed.
However, the way it ended got me puzzled. Her mother seemed against their relationship. Her smiles turned into tears, and I could not help to frown closing book one. Yet, I knew that in the second book Odette and Prince Gale will have another enticing story to tell.
Part 3: The Prince’s Bride Romantic Regency Review
The ending of book one made me realize that a woman might be weak at some point when it comes to love. However, like Odette, one must know how to handle things rationally. Sometimes a wise woman should also know how to wear her heart on her sleeves at the right time. It is not bad to blindly buy this masterpiece.
So, if I were you, I will throw away my reluctance in the bin and go click the add to cart button to place an order. For sure, The Prince’s Bride by J.J. McAvoy will be worth your money, and that’s a fact.
