A beautiful book in all regards, Ruthless People By J.J McAvoy is one mafia book you wouldn’t want to take your eyes off. Each chapter brings a new twist and introduces new conflicts, good enough to keep us all hooked. Ruthless people is so beautifully and perfectly written that it seems like you are engrossed in the storyline right from the very beginning.
I have read a considerable number of media romance books in the past, and I can say without mincing words that Ruthless People is one of the best I have ever come across.

Ruthless people is set in modern-day Chicago. Ruthless people quickly introduce Liam Callahan, the handsome, rich, ruthless, and exotic heir of the Irish Mafia group. Liam thinks the world is under his feet and all women should be submissive to him, including Melody Giovanni, the daughter of the Italian mafia boss to whom he was about to get married.
In an attempt to curb a war that is about to break out between the Italians, both mafia families had resolved to come to a peaceful agreement by marriage, but that decision does not seat well with the parties involved.
To the general public, The families present simply as philanthropists doing good and giving humanitarian aid. But deep in the shadows, the strings that broker peace between them has thinned.
From the first moment, they saw each other, a tug of war began between Liam and Melody. They hated each other, they hated how attractive they were to each other, and that only made it all worse. Two tigers cannot live on the same mountain, they say.

She is calm, calculative, fierce, and extremely dangerous to those who underestimate her, Liam Callahan included. She is a very capable woman, having been trained from a young age in more than one way to defend herself and bring the world around her to its knees.
She despised Liam when they first met, although, she could not deny the attraction she felt for him. He was handsome, but his features were not good enough to make her stop hating him. She had vowed not to submit to any man and the more Liam pushed, the more she pulled away.
After several attempts to kill and dominate each other, coupled with the steamy sessions that were quickly ensured, Melody and Liam finally realize that there are more dangerous things out there other than their bickering.
A new enemy has come and they must team up, whether they like it or not.

Melody is on a plane to Chicago to meet Liam and his family for the first time. She goes over a series of files containing information about him.
She then reminisces about the past and how her family had understood the importance of women in the mafia business, something most other families fail to recognize. The women also seemed to live longer than the men who all had a certain genetic disorder in the end. She had learned how to shoot from her grandmother, but her mother died in a plane crash.
Melody soon speaks with her father and gives him information about how she had allowed the Callahans to hack into their database and know how much they’re Worth. Her father commends her capability and when she lands, she braces herself for a very interesting meeting with the Callahans.
