"I don't have anything to say to you Alpha." I said as I stared at him currently glaring at me.

"Neveah you don't understand so don't act like you do." he said in frustration.

"I dont mean to offend you Alpha Axel but I have no clue what your talking about."

"Don't act like you don't know we're mates," he said in irritation.

I tilted my head to the side knowing I was getting under his skin.

"Mate's or not. You are no longer mine. So please Alpha King, escort yourself out," I said with a blank stare.

I faced my back to him feeling the anger rolling off him in waves.

I wasn't the one at fault here.

It was all him.

Chapter One
"You should leave me here, that way I can learn on how to look after a pack. Beta Benjamin can watch over me while..." "Beta Benjamin is coming with us," he interrupted with a raised brow. Amusement danced in his gaze as he watched me fight my way out of not assisting him in visiting the Alpha king. "The more reason for me to stay. who's going to look after the pack while we're gone. We cant leave the pack defenceless," I said with a victorious smirk. "You wound me Nevaeh. Do you not think I am capable of looking after the pack." I turned around facing the new voice and groaned. "Frederick, why did you have to show up. I nearly had him," I grumbled folding my arms across my chest. My father chuckled and stood up walking towards me placing a kiss on my forehead. "Not even close pup. Frederick will be staying while your brother learns off him during the time we're gone." I rolled my eyes and glared at Frederick who grinned throwing a wink my way. "Why are you so determined to stay behind?" my mother asked with a raised eyebrow. "I want to show dad that I am perfectly capable of leading a pack on my own. I don't need to wait for my mate to rule." She smiled and walked up to me cupping my cheek. "Your father knows your capable sweetheart, he just wants a man beside you to be able to protect you when you can't protect yourself." "And while we wait for your mate, I will protect you," teased Frederick as he threw an arm over my shoulder. I laughed and shrugged him off while facing my dad. "Fine, but can Avril come too." Suddenly the door opened revealing my grinning best friend. "I'm coming too b***h," she squealed as she ran over to me. "Language Avril," scolded her dad. She looked up at Beta Benjamin and laughed sheepishly before facing my dad. "Sorry, I apologise Alpha Ezra," she said as her cheeks heated in embarrassment. I snickered behind her  causing her to elbow me in the stomach. I grunted and glared at her then slapped Frederick upside the head when he laughed. He grumbled as he rubbed the back of his head glaring at me while I grinned back at him. Frederick, Avril and I have known each other since diapers. It wasn't really a big surprise that we were close considering our fathers held titles and were close friends as well. My father is the Alpha of the pack and till the next full moon I will be taking over, or thats what I like to think. Apparently my father will only hand the pack over to me by the next full moon, if I haven't found my mate yet. The reason is because if I have a mate with the same status as me then I would have to live with him in his pack. Hence the reason he is training my younger brother as well as me for the Alpha position.  For twenty three years I've trained with this pack. Ive trained so hard I have managed to go undefeated against the warriors in our pack. I fought with them urging them to not go easy on me. During the first few sessions they wouldn't fight me properly which angered me and my wolf. They were afraid of hurting 'the Alphas daughter', note the sarcasm. So I made my father not attend the trainings and commanded them to fight me. From then on I slowly earned their respect which I was thankful for. I didn't want them to respect me because of my title, or who my father was. I wanted to earn it. Don't get me wrong I wasn't an amazing fighter when I first started. I was getting my ass kicked left, right and centre. But I was determined to prove myself to them as well as myself. Avril louise, my best friend and Beta female of the pack. She was more of the loud one out of us. Where I was composed and closed off, she was outgoing with a very loud personality. I guess you could say our personalities complimented each other. Frederick Mayson was our protector as he would say, I thought with an eyeroll. I am confident I can take care of myself but Frederick insisted to follow us around and annoy the hell out of us, but we've learnt to love him. Growing up with the two of them has made me thankful to have them. I wouldn't have it any other way. I snapped out of my thoughts when I noticed my mother grinning at me. I narrowed my gaze in suspicion as I faced Avril who scoffed. "Your mother is talking about us finding our mates while we're there," she said with an eye roll. I chuckled knowing Avril is set on not meeting her mate. She see's them as a weakness and judging from what happened to her brother I guess I can understand that. She wasn't always bitter about Mates, she use to dream and squeal at the idea of finding her mate. But that all changed after what happened with her brother Ryder. He was her idol. Someone she looked up to who inspired her. But unfortunately for Ryder, his mate died from a rogue attack. After that incident everything changed about him. He was angry all the time. He never had time for Avril and would snap at her when she tried to console him. He was going through a rough patch with the loss of his mate and Avril had to watch her brother slowly fade away from who he used to be. She hated it. She hated the effect someone else could have on your life. And when he ended his own life. She despised the idea of mates. The night of her brothers death she told me that she would never let anyone hold that power over her. Mates were not an option in her book. In my opinion I didn't mind having a mate. They were your significant other made specifically for you. I was neutral on the subject. Whatever happens, happens. "Maybe, but don't count on it," I said as I pulled her in for a hug before I faced my father clapping my hands together. "Alrighty, since I know I have no choice but to accompany you I will go pack." I nodded my head in acknowledgement to both my father and Beta Benjamin before leaving the room. "Stay safe while your there. There are a lot of royal pain in the ass men whom lurk the halls." I smirked and looked at Fredrick as he walked in step next to me. "You and I both know I am more than capable of taking care of myself." He chuckled and placed a hand on my shoulder halting my movements.  "I'm serious Nev, you have no idea what goes on in the house of the royals." "You don't either," I said poking him in the chest.  For a moment he looked serious before he looked behind me and smiled as Avril came and linked her arm with mine.  "Well I will miss you both. Be safe, I mean it." he said with a pointed to stare to the both of us before he went back in the direction of my fathers office.  "Sheesh, he acts like we're going to be gone forever," she joked. "Hmm," I said with a narrowed gaze watching Fredericks retreating form.  I wonder what he meant. "Well come on Nevaeh we don't have all day. We need to pack," she said as she grabbed my arm pulling me along with her. I nodded letting her drag me along as my mind wandered off to what the royals were like.  Well I guess I will be finding out soon enough.
