17 year old Selena has always loved her childhood sweetheart and son of the wealthiest family in town. But things go sour when Cian turns his back on her and abandons her after she is accused of a robbery. Devastated, she discovers she is pregnant with his child and eventually gives birth to a baby girl. With no father she earns a reputation in town.

Four years later, she moves from town to New York where she lands a job as a secretary. Fate has it that the father of her child is the CEO of her company and her very own boss.

Where would the road lead Selena when she finds herself torn with the father of her child, especially when he is set to marry another woman. And what happens when he makes her his mistress. Would Cian win her back or is he doomed to lose her for good?

I walked into the restaurant with my bag slung on my arm. I bit my lip nervously this was it, this was really it. If I was successful, I was going to get a job as a waitress. Dubois was really an expensive restaurant in our town, in fact It was the most expensive restaurant. I had been turned down so many jobs in our town because of my predicament, but someone had recommended me to get this job. So i had fairly more chances of getting the job. I need the money badly to take care of my family, especially for Vivian. I needed to be the mother for her, the mother she deserved to have. Not a loser like me who was declined every job. I walked towards the receptionist, and past all the rich people dining at their tables. "Good evening." I greeted the receptionist. The receptionist looked up at me. "Yes Good evening. How can I help you?" She asked me. "I'm looking for the manager. I was told to come this evening and apply for the job as a waitress." I told her. "Ok, I see. What's your name?" She asked me. "Selena, Selena Bush." I said. She looked down at her desk and then she said. "Ok, I see your name here." Then she called out to a waitress and instructed her to take me to meet the manager. I followed the waitress into an office. "Good evening." I greeted the brunette elderly woman seated behind her desk. "You must be Selena Bush." She said. I nodded. "Yes I am."" "Good, you can have a sit." She said and I followed her request. "I am Mrs. Richwood." "So you have with you your CV for the job?" She asked me. "Yes, I do." I said as I brought it out from my bag and handed it to her. She received it and opened it. My heart was already beating rapidly. When she looked at me, I knew what she was about to say. "You were a straight A student from high school." She said. "Yes, I was." I said uncomfortably. She looked down at the papers again. "And you were given scholarships, why were they taken back?" I swallowed. God, not this again. "I was pregnant." I said. She looked at me from her glasses and I saw her disapproving look. "Oh." She said. "And what happened to this your er... pregnancy." "I gave birth. My child is at home with my parents." I said. Then she rested in her chair. "I see." She said. "So you are a high school drop out with a child and is there a father?" I was beginning to feel suffocated. "No." I said. "I see." Mrs. Richwood said. "A dropout from school, pregnant with no father, no further education and nothing else to give you credit for." I started to shake. "I am sorry, but you see this is the Dubois restaurant. The finest in our town and one of the top restaurants in this part of America. We have senators, mayors, business men, African royalty dining here. Someone like you, will soil our relationship." She said. My heart crashed ultimately. Not again. I tried to convince myself that I was not going to cry. "Please, I need this job." I begged. I had no choice. "I have a family to take care of." Mrs. Richwood gave me a very fake and pleasant smile. I knew what was coming next. I knew what she was going to say. "I'm sorry, but we can't give you the job." She told me. "You don't have the qualifications. I mean, I wish I could, but it's not within my powers." She was lying. She didn't want to give me the job at all. The whole talk of her saying that she wanted to give me the job, was a complete lie. "I mean, it's such a shame." She said to me. "A very bright student and after all you were a straight A one student. You just went down the wrong road I believe. Such a waste." Then she cleared her throat and said. "I am sorry but there is nothing that we can do for you. If you will please excuse yourself out." She closed my CV and dropped it in front of her desk for me. I felt a blow in my stomach and then I very slowly rose up from my seat. I wanted to plead to her, beg her that i needed this job terribly. But then looking at her, I knew that it wouldn't be of any help rather it would only fuel her Ego. I picked up my CV and turned away from her. She continued with her paper work and acted like I wasn't even there. I simply took myself out of her office and went into the restaurant. As I passed the bunch of rich people dining at the expensive tables, I felt like everyone staring at me. Like they knew how much of a failure I was and how i had just been turned down once again from the over thirtieth Job application. I hurriedly walked out of the restaurant and when I went down the road, it started to rain heavily and I felt like s**t. I couldn't do anything, couldn't run or take sanctuary somewhere, I just walked on like a completely dazed zombie.
