Zulu Lost in a desert of a giant spider By: Seidu Lawal After Zulu had his mom read him a bedtime story. Zulu got sleepy, couldn't keep his eyes open. I'm so sleepy, Zulu said. Zulu's mom kissed him goodnight, and Zulu slept off. When Zulu woke up, it was still dark, Zulu could barely see but his mom wasn't around, maybe she left early to get food, I'll just lay here for a bit, he said. The sun was up, Zulu, on his way out, at the entrance of the cave, he felt really strange. The heat from the sun was intense, the sun on his face. He realized he wasn't in his home, he was in the middle of nowhere, all he could see was an ocean of sand. Zulu got confused. Where's his mom and everyone else. Maybe mom brought me here while I was asleep, he thought. But where's mom? Did she leave me here? Zulu was looking around, trying to figure out where he was, he was alone. Zulu had a feeling of being followed, he looked around, couldn't find anyone. Then all of a sudden, a giant shadow popped out and was coming towards him, shocked by this, he ran into a cave, trying to get away from it. It was really dark, he could barely see. Hello! He cried out, there was no reply. He was looking around in the cave, he bumped into something, it was a slimy nest hanging on the ceilings of the cave, he could tell from the sun's light making it's way through tiny spaces in the rocks. Zulu was trying not to freak out. Where am I? He was lost, confused, scared. He found an exit. All he could see was sand. Then he heard something coming towards him, from inside the cave. Who's there, he questioned. Zulu walking backwards slowly, then all of a sudden, popped out a gigantic spider, and heading straight towards Zulu. Scary, with eight eyes, sharp jaws, so huge. Zulu immediately turned and ran as fast as he could. The giant spider chasing him. Zulu ran as fast as his legs could carry him, his heart was pounding. As he ran, he saw a cave and ran towards it, the spider couldn't fit in. Zulu, in shock, he couldn't believe what he saw. Searching for another exit, hoping to find someone. All of a sudden, he heard his mom calling, following the voice, to an exit of the cave. The voice was coming from the cave he woke up in, mom's back, she's looking for me. But how would he get passed the spider. How would he get to his mom? Zulu needed a plan, maybe a distraction. He couldn't figure out, but he knew he had to get passed the monster and back to the cave, in the other side. What if the spider heads for mom? He needed a distraction to get passed the monster. He was walking around, trying to figure something out, if he could find a plan to help him escape. He stumbled over some bones. They probably belong to some animal who died in here a long time ago. He figured maybe if he threw them at the spider, he'll run off. He took a few with him, throwing them at the spider, hoping he runs off. But this only made the spider angry, he began forcing his way in. Zulu had pissed off the spider even more. Zulu got scared as the spider was almost in, he was forcing its way, pissed of was the spider, Zulu was moving backwards, he was shaking, trying to figure out how to get away from the monster. The spider finally broke its way in, staring right at Zulu with it's eight eyes all focused on Zulu. He was heading straight for Zulu. Zulu headed for the other side of the cave, his legs could still run fast. The spider chased after him, almost got Zulu, and Zulu jumped right out of the cave. The spider didn't give up, part of it was already out, but he was stuck half way. Then Zulu ran for the cave his mom was. Running as fast as he could, the spider broke free. Zulu looked behind him, the spider didn't give up. Zulu was almost at the cave, the spider was fast. He tried to out run it, the spider was so close. Zulu was almost at the cave, he hears his mom calling, Zulu, wake up, wake up. He finally made it to the cave. But it was so dark, so he was running towards the voice, then suddenly he started falling, he was screaming for his mom. Then he woke up. His mom was right there with him. It was only a nightmare, she said. Zulu was scared. He held on to his mom. It's was only a dream, I'm right here, she said. Zulu realized it was a nightmare. But he knew he finally found his mom. The sun was already up. He had a sigh of relief, has his mom said "everything will be fine". The End
