**COMPLETE**
“No!” I moaned as the painful memories all came flooding back to me. I palmed Joel’s chest and thrust off of him with as much force as I could muster, stumbling towards the door as tears rolled down my cheeks.
“Rose!” he called to my back, pushing through the crowd after me.
Breaking into a run, I bolted out the door and into the humid night air. Startled guests stepped aside as I passed, making my way towards the parking lot. As I ran, my ankle went out from under me, snapping the heel on CeCe’s left shoe. I hit the gravel hard, biting my lip to keep from sobbing.
Brushing debris from my bloodied knees, I unlatched the stilettos, carrying them with me as I walked barefoot up the drive. I fished out my phone from my purse and dialed the one person I hadn’t wanted to call.
“You on your way home, Cinderella? Clock is ticking towards midnight,” CeCe answered wryly.
“CeCe I’m so sorry,” I sobbed drunkenly, stumbling down the dark dirt road. “I need you to come pick me up.”
“Where are you? I’m on my way right now. Are you somewhere safe? Is anyone with you?” my roommate asked frantically, keys jingling in the background.
As I opened my mouth to speak, a car engine roared behind me. I stumbled back into the grass, dropping my phone in the process. A Porsche 918 Spyder spun to block the road, its driver stepping out with hellfire in his gaze.
