"Hmm, ouch!" Chloe squirmed in pain and purred. Edward was supposed to sleep beside her. But now he was plunging deep inside her. This was the fifth time tonight. It was a long time before he gradually stopped his rudeness, rolled out of bed, and headed to the bathroom. "Get on the pill. Don't get pregnant to please grandma. I do not buy it." Edward slammed the door and the sound of water in the bathroom stung Chole's ears. Chloe opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling, as the blush on her face faded. Chole had to laugh at her insignificance. She was used to this man's arrogant tone. She knew that he hated her and would never let her conceive his child. It was a fresh day when Chloe woke up again. The empty place beside her was cold. Edward had long got up. She dragged her aching body to the bathroom for a quick shower. She pulled up her messy hair, changed into a blue dress, and put a little foundation on the bruises around her neck to hide Edward's madness the night before. Downstairs, several servants stood around the table, Edward leaned against the chair, his knife and fork lifted, elegant and noble. Edward noticed her standing at the top of the stairs, paused the fork in his hand, and said carelessly, "Grandma just called and asked me to take you back to the old mansion on Saturday." With that, he cut a small piece of steak and put it in his mouth. "Back to the old mansion?" Chloe hesitated. She dawdled down the last step, her palm-sized face torn. "Does grandma have something important to say?" She didn't think grandma would call them back for nothing. But her words grew harsher in Edward's ears. His eyes darkened. With a clang, the knife and fork collided with the plate and made a crisp sound. "Something important?" A gentle smile spread across Edward's lips. "You want grandma to have something important to say? Huh?" His vague low smile made Chloe's skin crawl out. She stared at him as he got up from his chair, picked up his suit jacket, and approached her step by step. The one thing that couldn't be denied over the years was that she was afraid of Edward. His sullen and unsteady character, and his wicked behavior, always made her shudder. She was afraid of him at all times. Her heart thudding, she stood there transfixed. Edward was now less than half a meter from her, his eyes narrowing dangerously, like a demon in the flesh. She wanted to take a step back, but there was no way back, barred by the banister. "If I am not mistaken, it is your marriage to me that is the most important thing you wish your grandma to announce?" Edward finally stopped at the shock in her eyes. Their bodies fit closely together, and his tall and straight figure completely enveloped her petite body. The atmosphere froze for a moment. "No, I…I, " Chloe shook her head and quivered with nerves. Chloe's face turned pale, as Edward spoke slowly, enunciating every word with great clarity. Even though she was deeply humiliated, she still dared not show anything. She struggled to defend herself. "That’s not true. It was just an accident..." "An accident? " Edward thought he heard a funny word. His voice was freezing cold. "You mean it was an accident that you slept in my bed and grandma saw you?" Chloe was totally misconceived by him, failing to defend herself. The moment Chloe wobbled in humiliation, her wrist was suddenly grabbed by Edward, who prodded her against the banister. His cold eyes were fixed on her pale face. "Do you know why I acquiesced in grandma's behavior and let you live here?" Chole shook her head. Greeting her puzzled eyes, Edward sneered and said slowly, "No man would turn down a free bedmate." Half-jokingly, half-seriously, Edward watched her stiffened look with admiration. Then he loosened her thin wrist and took a white veil from his trouser pocket and wiped his hands. He threw the veil to Felix and then walked past Chloe. "I'm leaving, Secretary White." A teasing voice came from the door, and Chloe suddenly realized that Edward was gone. He put his hands in the pockets of his trousers and walked at an unbridled and elegant pace. His hearty laughter with a touch of coolness spread to her ears. "It's almost time for work. You'll be punished for being late!" Felix gave Chloe a blank-eyed look, hesitated to speak, then finally turned around and quickly caught up with Edward. In the large villa, in addition to the servants looking at each other, Chloe was the only one left.
