Jaime pov “As the princess of this realm and the eldest of the late king, I take the honour of crowning our new queen,” I said with confidence. “ I hereby declare you Queen Sophia Ramiro, the queen of the realm of the wizards.” The princess and the firstborn of our late king crowned her as queen. I eyed her as the crown was placed on her head. Pathetic. She doesn’t fit to be queen. I should have been queen. I should have been chosen as his bride. I absolutely cannot understand why he had chosen this stupid werewolf as his bride and queen. I huffed as king Luke held her hand and stood up from the throne. They walked together towards the gate that leads outside, just like when he did during his coronation ceremony. I turned around and watched as he held her hand up high so that the commoners could them. I heard them cheer for her. Stupid commoners. They would believe whatever their king tells them. This ceremony is a lot like the coronation held about five years ago. The coronation of our king Luke, the chosen one. The ceremony was broadcasted to the whole realm. I remember watching him on TV. *Flashback* “My people. We have managed to attain this success after going a long way. Our realm has gone through a lot of trials. We have fallen, yet we managed to pick ourselves up and defeat our enemies. My people, a lot of trails may still be awaiting us. I promise to stay by your side till my last breath. I promise to rule with equity. I promise to be a just ruler. We shall continue to work as one. We shall stand united. We are one.” Our young king finished his speech. I watched in awe at the one who saved us from the darkest days. He was the one who had removed us from the misery and he is just fifteen years old. He is my hero. “Jaime, that is our king. We have our king now. The true king. You have never seen this because fourteen years ago, our kingdom was completely shattered by those evildoers.” My father explained. “Remember Jaime. You are fourteen years now. I think we will be allowed to learn magic from now on. I will teach you everything I know. Make sure that you use it for the betterment of this realm.” He said. “Yes, father. I will.” I said. I sure will. Serving this king would be an honour. Days passed by and the palace that was used earlier by the dark lord was made an academy of magic. I begged my father to enrol me there. I enjoyed every session. Councilmember Wilma taught us magic while council member Alec taught us to fight without magic. We learnt everything we could from them. Everyone was thirsty for anything they could learn. I worked hard. I was like a sponge and absorbed each information I could get hold of. And soon I was selected as the best all-around witch of our batch from the academy. On the day of our graduation, our king handed me my prize. I was ecstatic. It was such an honour to be able to receive it from his hands. I walked onto the stage, my heart thumping hard in my chest. I tried to calm myself down before I walked towards him. He was smiling in satisfaction. He held out his hands to shake my hand. I gulped before shaking his hand. I felt goosebumps all over my body. “Congratulations Jaime. You have done a great job” he said. “Th..thank you, your majesty.” I managed to stutter. When I climbed down the stage, I was determined to do something else. To join the army and work so hard to impress him. I’ll be the best warrior there ever was, I will make sure that I was the best. And when the time comes for him to choose a bride, he surely will choose the best. *End of flashback.* All those memories made me roll my eyes. How could he choose a girl whom he had just met? I have been working hard for the past five years just for this realm. For his kingdom. To serve him. But still, he chooses this stupid she-wolf over me. A girl whom he most probably just met when his adoptive family visited for council member Kira’s wedding recently. I scoffed. A werewolf. Just a werewolf is our queen. How ridiculous. What does he see in her? She is just a werewolf. I thought. I will be better at being queen. I held my head high and left the coronation ceremony. She wouldn’t have any powers what would she do to protect our realm? I walked briskly towards the knights' quarters. “knight major Jaime.” I ran into my superior, knight commander Yail, who happens to be council member Kira’s husband. “Why are you leaving your duties?” he asked. I stood in attention and saluted to him as a sign of respect. “Knight commander, I am not feeling well. I need to have some rest.” I lied. He nodded. “That is fine. But next time, let us know if you need a break because then we would know to find someone to fill you in.” “Yes sir,” I said and proceeded towards my cabin. I was fuming. I had worked so hard to be a knight major at 19 years of age only in the hopes of the king taking interest in me. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have worked this hard. Becoming the knight major at 19 is not easy. Duties. Fill in. Knight major. I don’t want any of these. I want to be queen and I will prove that I am better, somehow. Luke pov. I took Sophie’s hand and guided her through the crowd. Her hand was ice cold. Of course, she is anxious. She is new to this. I leaned into her ear and whispered. “It’s ok. Just follow me.” She nodded with a smile. That smile made my heart skip a beat. I had to look away from her to stop myself from doing something a king shouldn’t do in front of all the citizens. We faced our people. They were all cheering for us. For her. Their new queen. We waved to them and walked inside the enchanted palace. I saw that she was smiling beautifully. She was feeling more confident after seeing that the people were excited about their new queen. We walked towards the throne and sat on our respective seats. Me on the king’s throne and Sophie on the queen’s. The quests came to congratulate us one by one. Kings and queens of different kingdoms and realms wished us well and blessed us. We went to the palace garden for our reception. We danced and enjoyed ourselves. Time flew. Soon the guests started to leave and only our families and council members were left behind. Mom and dad came towards us with everyone else in tow. I could see that Sophie’s mom was crying. She came towards Sophie and hugged her tight. “My baby. I will miss you so much” she cried as she hugged Sophie. “Mom.” Sophie gasped, wrapping her arms around her mother. “I will miss you too.” She said. Her father joined them. I watched as they cried together. I felt a hand on my shoulder. “Luke.” Mummy came towards me with my brother Luca. Luca ran towards me and hugged my waist. “hey little bro,” I hugged him back. Mom, dad my sister and her family gathered around us. “Oh my gosh you guys have grown up fast” my sister exclaimed trying to wipe her tears without ruining her makeup. “Yeah. We most probably will soon become grandparents. And you an aunt Aisha.” Sophie’s dad said with a mischievous smirk on his face. Sophie blushed at once. “Daaaaaaad!” She groaned. Everyone laughed. “What? I want grandkids.” He said shrugging. I chuckled as I looked at my soulmate. Our eyes met and her blush deepened. I couldn’t help smirk at her. I heard my dad clear his throat. “I think we should all go back to our rooms.” He said. “yes. It has been a tiring night.” Mummy said smiling at me. My little brother looked at the faces of each of us one by one. “I’m not tired. I want to have fun.” He whined. “Yeah. I don’t want to go to sleep.” My niece joined him. “Yes. No sleep yet.” Sophie’s little brother agreed with them. “Oh. None of us is tired. We just need to get some shut-eye.” Mommy told Luca. Luca held her hand. “Shut tie?” He asked innocently as mommy took him away. My niece, Anna, looked at my sister “Can I have a shut tie?” She asked. My sister chuckled. “Of course love. Let’s go and get some.” “Don’t you need a shut tie, Sayed?” Sophie asked her brother. He yawned. And hugged their mom. “Mommy. I want to sleep.” He said. “But can I have shut tie tomorrow?” I shook my head in amusement. Kids are so innocent. His mom took him in her arms and carried him away. The dads had followed them to their rooms so did most of the council members. Soon Kira and Yail were the only ones left with us in the throne room “Congratulations your majesty” Yail greeted us. Kira followed him and bowed down to us. “Are you going to be this formal forever from now on?” Sophie asked a little surprised. Kira looked at me. I chuckled. “No. She is your closest friend. Why does she have to be so formal all the time. I too need a social life you know.” I said and I looked at Yail. “Hey. Yail, you are practically family now. No need of all these formalities when we are alone. Ok?” I told him. “But sire....” He responded. He was interrupted as Sophie body slammed into his wife. “Oh my God, I thought I have to have this boring life for the rest of my life.” She said. Kira giggle and hugged her back. “I still need to be able to tease you woman. And scold you or kick your ass if I have to.” I chuckled. Yail was watching with his mouth hung open. “It’s ok man. You will get used to it.” I told him with a smirk. He smiled back. What is better than to befriend your knight commander? I think I have the best team with me. And when we add Sophie to it, now we are perfect. ****** Narrator Unknown to the four friends, Jaime was watching them enviously. She had returned to the hall of the palace to see how things were going. She just saw that their king and the queen who she refused to accept, befriend a council member and the knight commander. She huffed in anger. It should have been here all along. She should have been queen. Not this she-wolf who didn’t have any magical powers.
