1. Planes
“Be safe,” My mom says as she hugs me. I smiled at her before hugging my dad and getting into my taxi. I sat quietly in the taxi smiling as we pulled up to the Airport. I jumped out of the Taxi and grabbed my suitcase before heading in. I walked slowly taking in the place as I’ve never been to an airport, I’ve actually never been anywhere ever. But today that changed, today I will get on a plane to New York City. I am the first in my family to go to college and I am to attend NYU. I got through everything already and got seated in my seat on the plane. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. After about an hour of just sitting on the plane, I checked my watch to see we should have taken off about thirty minutes ago. I frowned looking around, It seemed as if every seat was filled. “Must be something in first class,” the woman next to me. “Planes are late because of the first-class?” I asked her, confused. “No, some rich dude rented the whole first-class seating,” she tells me. “Meaning we are either waiting on him to show up or waiting on his group,”. I didn’t say anything, I looked around and checked my watch every now and then. Just as I was getting annoyed, the flight attendant walked up to me, “Ms. Kinsley, your ticket has been upgraded to first-class,” she smiles. I looked at her confused and frowned, “There but be a mistake, my parents couldn’t afford a first-class ticket,” I told her. “It was someone else who gifted it to you,” she smiles. I stand up awkwardly grabbing my carry-on and following her to first class. As we entered the first class I noticed it was completely empty until she sat me in a seat next to a tall man. I sat down and she set a coke in front of me and I smiled softly without saying anything. I looked around at the empty first-class and frowned. “I bought out the whole first class for myself,” the man says in a deep husky voice. I snapped my head looking at him, his eyes were an icy blue and his hair brown. Everything about his face chiseled was perfect as if he was a god. “Why buy out the whole first class if it’s just you?” I asked. “Because I’m not very fond of people, and my private jet is down. I was not going to spend any more time at the rodeo,” he says expressionlessly. “Then why is it that I’m here?” I asked. “I picked one person to keep my company,” he shrugs. “After looking over all the choices I chose you,” he says. “But why?” I asked. “Had I known you asked so many questions, I wouldn’t have picked you,” he says. “You could always send me back from where I came,” I told him in the hopes I could go back to my seat. “I think not,” he says and drinks whatever was in his glass. “Drink your coke,” he says. “How did they know I liked coke?” I asked. “They didn’t, I did,” he says. I didn’t say anything as I was beginning to get slightly uncomfortable. I sat silently in my chair and looked at my papers about my classes at NYU. “NYU?” he asks. “Yes, classes start in the next few days,” I say looking at the cost of my textbooks, causing my jaw to drop. “Something the matter?” he says slightly amused. “No,” I say, closing the folder hoping the plane lands soon. “I’m bored,” he groans. “Play a game with me?” he asks, looking over at me. “No,” I say ignoring him. I didn’t want to be in first class with him let alone play a game with him. “Come on, it’ll be fun,” he says. “How?” I asked, turning to look at him with my unamused face. “We guess something about each other. If I guess right, you have to answer anything I want to know. If you guess right I’ll answer anything you want to know,” he says. I stared at him trying to figure out what the end game was, but I figured that if I played maybe I’d understand what it is that he does that he could buy out the first class. “Fine,” I say. “Go first if you wish,”. “You’re going to NYU on scholarship yes?” he asks. “Yes,” I say, frowning. Was it obvious that I don’t come from a lot of money? I asked myself. “What are you studying?” he asks. “Business,” I say. “You own your own company?” I guessed. “I do,” he smirks. “What kind?” I asked. “I own Just about half of New York,” he smiles. “What do you mean?” I ask. “Oh no it's my turn,” he says. “Your scholarship doesn’t cover your books?” he guesses. I sigh, “No it doesn't,” I say looking away from him. “How old are you? The Mid 20s?” I guess. “Something like that,” he says. “I’m 26,” he informs me. “Why do you want to study business?” he asked me. “That’s not a guess, that's just asking,” I point out. “I want to work in business or own a business someday,” I answer anyway. “What’s your name?” I ask, realizing that I didn’t know his name. “Nathaniel York,” he smirks as if the name meant anything to me. “I’m Kinsley,” I say. “Yes, I’m very aware of who you are,” he says while drinking his drink. I snapped my head towards him and glared. Just as I was about to ask how he knew me, the flight attendant walked up to inform us the plane had landed and I was told to go. I sighed, grabbed my grab bag, and got off the plane, I walked into the new york airport and grabbed my suitcase from baggage claim, and headed out. As soon as I walked out the New York rain hit my face, I groaned looking around until I spotted her. She ran up to me and hugged me, “I’m still having a hard time believing they let you come,” she screams. “Well when they realized they didn’t have to pay for a dorm or an apartment, and I would be in the safe hands of my aunt,” I laughed, hugging her back. “Nonsense we both know they think I’m a terrible influence,” My aunt Summer laughs. “Thank you,” I whisper, hugging her tighter. “Come on, Let's get out of this New York Rain and to my place,” she smiles, taking my suitcase and pulling it towards her car.
