______________________ . . . Violet squeezed her eyes shut as soon as the sun rays hit her ocean blues orbs, groaning to herself for forgetting to close the blinds last night. Before she could go back to her sleep, she heard the commotion outside. She quickly got off the bed with a frown etched on her soft features. She threw her silk robe over her naked self, wincing at the sudden pain that coursed through her lower regions. She had to thank Nathan later for that. She quickly put on her bunny slippers and made her way out. "V-Vee.. Call.. Vee!" Violet's eyes widened at the sight in front of her. Nathan sat slumped on the foot of the couch, clutching his throat and looking as purple as a beet while their useless maid stared at him shocked. "Nate!" Violet screeched as she scrambled to his side, leaning down to inspect his face while he clutched her arms unable to breathe. "Quick, get the medicine box from the cabinet by the bathroom sink." Violet turned to the maid who nodded frantically before disappearing around the corner while Violet struggled to get his weight on the couch. The maid hurried over while Violet took off her husband's tee revealing red blisters all over. She quickly grabbed the medicine box. "Get some water." She dug out a small bottle of antihistamine lotion and poured it to her hands, slapping it onto her struggling husband. As soon as the water was brought, she ordered the maid to get two of the tablets out and feed him. The maid stood back and watched while Violet slapped more antihistamine all over Nathan. When he started recovering a little, she turned to the maid. "Who brought roses?" "There was a courier from your mother." Veronica! "She's not my mom!" Violet barked as she helped Nathan to his feet, throwing his arm over her shoulder. "I want the flowers thrown out and the whole place thoroughly vacuumed." The maid nodded frantically and got to it while Violet helped him to their bedroom, helping him put on a fresh pair of sweatpants over his boxers and tee before putting on her underwear and a simple dress. She helped him with his shoes and after grabbing her purse, both their phones and car key, helped him back out amongst his protests of feeling much better. "I don't want to hear any of it, Nathan Black!" She stopped his rant with a glare as they rode down the elevator. Nathan knew better than to argue with his wife, especially when she starts using full names. "Okay Mommy." He grumbled, hugging her and nuzzling his head into the crook of her neck. Violet drove him to the hospital. Nathan was breathing normally now and except for the occasional sneezing and the redness on his face and arms, he seemed to be alright. But Violet wasn't taking any chances. She never did when it came to him. So they met up with their family physician, Dr. Lydia Wood. "Just take a dose of antihistamines in the evening and drink a lot of water and have plenty of rest and you will be fine." The middle-aged woman smiled kindly while Nathan nodded his head. "Thank you so much Doc." Violet sighed, relieved. “See, I am completely fine. You stress out too much.” Her husband grinned at her. She rolled her eyes. She wasn’t even going to respond to that because it would start another banter and she will be late for work, which she couldn’t afford today because the CEO of VN Corp. was on leave today and she, the COO, had to deal with everything. Violet and Nathan were equal shareholders and owners of VN Corp. but she really didn’t want to be the CEO because though she majored in business, she wasn’t really business-minded so she dealt with the daily operation of the business while Nathan had to make all the choices. Though she did have to help the man-child with the paperwork from time to time. Violet closed the car door after settling Nathan in and got into the driver’s seat. “Can we get pancakes from Mama Rosette’s?” Nathan turned to his wife, an irresistible pout in place. A pout Mrs. Violet Nathan Black was immune to. “I have to sit in for your meeting at ten, Nate.” She sighed. “And it’s already quarter past eight so that will be a no.” “But-” Violet shut him up with a peck on his lips. “We will go out for breakfast tomorrow.” “Okay.” He grinned. He really was a child. Violet drove towards their apartment while Nathan took a quick nap. She had to drag him out once they reached the basement. She was worried that she will run late so she quickly brushed her teeth and changed into a black bodycon, tying her hair up in a neat bun. “Take your meds and drink water.” She called out to Nathan who was playing COD by then. She walked out and instructed the maid to make sure the game addict was fed and watered before she set out for her day. . . . “Oh my, let me just look out the window for a second!” Veronica Gale’s mere voice was enough to ruin Violet’s mood. “My daughter called me on her own. There must be at least five pigs flying around.” Violet rolled her eyes. She really didn’t want to hear Veronica’s bullshit. “Why the flowers?” She breathed out, keeping her phone between her ear and shoulder so that she could continue working on the datasheet because she really didn’t want to waste time by solely talking to her biological mother. “Honey, don’t you remember? On this day, two years ago, Nathan proposed you for marriage.” Violet raised a brow. Seriously? “Okay bye.” Violet rolled her eyes and then added, “Also, never send roses to my home. My husband is allergic to them.” “But-” Before Veronica could continue, Violet hung up. She really didn’t want to talk anything else to her birth-giver. She tossed the phone to her desk and sat back on her chair, taking off her reading glasses. Two years anniversary of the proposal huh? . . . _________________________
